Kayden hadn’t heard from Jack in ever so long, and while she had gone back to the bottle for a time, eventually…she just didn’t seem to care any longer. Even the depression that had been with her since the death of her fiancé hardly seemed to touch her any longer. She didn’t have anything going for her. Not one single thing. Nothing that could get her thinking about anything that mattered.

It was hard to eat, hard to get out of bed. Honestly, most of what she did now was sleep, and she knew it wasn’t…a good state to be in.
Hadn’t she moped for far too long?

Wasn’t this edging on…well. Insanity?

Kayden had decided to get a job. Perhaps having a steady place to go every day. The start of some new routine. It might do her some good. Or…it might not. But. She could take hold of things now. Get herself on a better track. She could do this, if she tried. She could find a way to make a new life for herself. Maybe…she could even reach out to Anella…though she supposed she should put on a bit of weight first, she knew she was far, far too thin.

Finally, the brunette came to the clothing store and let out a long, heavy sigh before going in and looking around, hoping to find the owner, Alexandre. She wanted to be able to get this interview over with and…hopefully have a new job in the process.

Work was just that - work. It was work just getting out of bed some mornings so he could go handle the boutique but he went, mostly because it wasn't his business. He didn't own it but he ran it and honestly he might as well own it he figured. Rose, Lily and Xander weren't likely coming back to Destiny City anytime soon, if ever, and they had left him here. He knew he could join them, they'd mentioned it a few times, but he couldn't. He had a life here and family...and Aiden - he's had Aiden. Now that he didn't have Aiden he still remained because of the war...because of the Negaverse - the thing which had ruined his relationship. He was still loyal to it even after it had ended his relationship.

He'd gotten out of bed this morning, he had no choice, and gone through the usual motions of getting ready to start his day and get to work. A morning run, dog walking, feeding Cadha and himself and then a shower and getting dressed in presentable clothing. He made sure he looked good, because even as he was no he had to impress people, and then he was off to work.

Today he had the usual things to do and the added duty of a job interview. He wasn't so happy about it but he needed another person on staff, someone else had left because college was becoming too much, and he'd set up the appointment with the first person to apply...as well as a few others. The others had been...meh - not too impressive.

From where roamed the store he heard, and saw, the female enter and made towards them. "Can I help you with anything?" He didn't stock the place or pick the styles, though they were all on point with latest trends, it was left up to Rose to do. He left what he could to her, everything she could handle from her home in England, while he handled the at home end of things - like this.

Kayden looked up and managed what passed for a warm smile. “Oh, yes please. I’m here to see Alexandre…my name is Kayden Hamilton, and I have an appointment for an interview today.” Her accent was still heavy, from when she lived near London, and she obviously wasn’t active enough, nor did she care enough to try to shed it in this city. For one thing, she just didn’t talk a lot anymore.

“It’s a beautiful store here, and I very much hope that I will have the pleasure of working with you in the future.” It never hurt to give just a little flattery. It could get you places, especially if the owner asked this guy for any thoughts on the prospective hires…this could be the way to really get the job.

She was admittedly more than a little nervous, but was good enough at hiding it, projecting an air of confidence that she hadn’t had in years. Nor that she really wanted to have. She needed a job for money, and money to get on with her life. And she needed an excuse to get her out of the house more often. Kayden was utterly wasting away and there was a part of her who knew that if she kept up…she wouldn’t make it to the end of the year.

"That would be me." Brushing his bangs from his face he slipped out of his seat and landed on the floor. Moving around the counter, which was on the tall side and made him look short, the ashen blond held out a hand. "Alexandre Evans. I'm glad you approve of the store." Since he didn't pick what was sold here, Rose handled that, he just maintained the place and made sure it didn't burn down...or in some way come to harm.

"If I hire you I'm sure you'll see a lot of me. I do a lot of the work around here." Since he knew the owners and was left in charge while they were off in England living their lives nice and safe - away from here.

"Follow me, I'll have someone take over while we head to the office." And he did move to page for someone, over the loud speaker, so one of the few other workers could take over.

While the store boasted a wide selection of high end, designer, brands as well as other non-American brands the ashen blond seemed to have rolled himself around in a closet filled with the most expensive, up to date, fashion available. It wouldn't be much of a surprise if his socks and underwear were designer as well. Once someone else, who worshiped designer names less than he did, appeared he motioned her to take over and motioned for Kayden to follow him. "It's good to see you. Tell me - you found your way here alright?"

Kayden watched him and looked around the store once again, before nodding. “It’s nice to see you too, I did find it easily enough.” Her own taste in fashion was…well. She didn’t have designer labels, it just hadn’t seemed like something that was needed when all she was doing was guzzling down whiskey.

“Thank you for the opportunity to interview though. I’m very grateful to have the chance. It’s been…a bit of a bumpy few years and I’m hoping that a new job will give me something to focus on. Something to keep my mind on.”

The words were little more than just thinking out loud, but Kayden couldn’t seem to remember how to filter her thoughts now that she was actually talking to another person. She hoped it wouldn’t cost her the job, but she couldn’t really pretend otherwise.

The woman followed the shorter male and fell quiet again, vowing to remain silent until she was actually being interviewed. Perhaps that was just…smarter.

Nodding his head towards her, a small smile forming . "I understand - I know how that can be." He was having a bit of a bumpy few months...or few years really. The bumps had been small, and far between, but keeping his secrets from Aiden was not easy. It had finally caught up though and things had ended. He was tossing himself into as much as he could at home, work, the Negaverse. Anything he could manage to toss himself into.

"Hopefully, if I hire you, this will help you pull yourself out of whatever hole you've fallen into. It would be good." Normally he wasn't the sort to pity a person, or care much for their feelings, it simply wasn't how he was. He cared...but in the general sense - not personal. But he understood, to some degree, about bumps in the road and falling into holes. At least right now he understood a bit.

"Tell me. Why apply here? Did you apply to other places? Other areas of retail or non-retail jobs?"

Kayden nodded, relaxing just a bit. He sounded as though he really did know what it felt like to need something to focus on, and oddly, that made her just a bit hopeful. “Thank you. I hope so too. At the very least it will get me out of the house and force me to form better habits.” She drew in a breath and took a moment to mull over the question, knowing that the true test had started and finally she just nodded.

“I only applied to here. It’s close enough to my apartment that I can walk here, and I thought that would make things better, giving me the added benefit of getting fresh air and giving me no excuse but to go to work. Unless…I break my leg or something.”

But, that would be a whole other set of issues.

“And…I do like clothes…” Kayden added, rather lamely. Almost as though it were an afterthought.

"Yes, a job is a good way to kick start things - to force habits and a life change." It could change a lot, it was a big thing, a job tended to change what people did with their hours, sleep schedule, how they spent their time off of work. It did a lot of good for most people.

"So only here...there are other places around here. Interested in clothing or just want to get your feet wet and go for something easy to help you out of the rut?" Might as well be blunt and ask the proper questions right from the get go - figure her out. Making it to the back office he pushed the door open and held it for her, entering only once she had.

"Have a seat." A couch and two chairs were situated in the room, nice and plush, for people to sit and talk - like now. When he did take a seat it was one of the chairs where he settled himself. "I see, so an interest in clothing - that's good. Designer names as well, I would hope, at least to an extent? We don't have only designer luxury brands but that is a good portion of what we sell here." How Rose had managed that he'd never figured out. It was nearly impossible to find some of these brands anywhere outside of their own brand stores and a few top chain stores.

"Tell me about yourself, I want to know who you are." Or at least who she thought she was."What skills do you have? Not just ones that pertain to this job but in general. What are you good at."

Kayden took a seat, relaxing as she did so, thinking that she could use a piece of furniture like this in her apartment. It would sure make it easier to fall asleep out on the couch if the couch was this comfortable.

She relaxed and nodded. “I like…clothes. Yes. I wear them every day. I…will admit, I haven’t had much of an interest in much of anything lately, but…I was quite into fashion when I was back in England.” And she had been. It was just the fact that…she didn’t have anyone to wear something nice for any longer. “I can learn again, if I have the chance to do so, and of course…” Kayden gave a small smile. “Well. If I get to model some of the clothing here, I know for a fact that I’ll…have an interest in it again.

At the next question she fell quiet. “About myself? I’ve…lost my way. I lost the love of my life in a random act of violence. Moved here to try to run from my past…got tied up in a very. Strange…bad relationship….”

She fell silent. This wasn’t what he wanted to hear. This wouldn’t get her the job. “Anyway…I decided that I needed to move on. I need to go back to who I was. I was strong. A planner. I knew what was going on with everything. I had purpose. And I want that back again. I was a leader. I was someone who took charge of things. I want to go back to taking charge of my life.”

"So it wasn't just on a whim to pick here, or clothing retail. You had a passion for it...you just lost it." Nodding his head, legs crossing loosely. "I can work with that. I can work with helping to re-spark that interest." He could certainly help, he had a love for fashion. "The owner of this store lives in England currently...as does the rest of her family." Which was growing, slowly but surely. As much as he'd never wanted family he had wanted to bring Aiden into his family....and he'd messed that up.

"I see...so if I start slowly giving you tasks, more than just sales floor things, you can handle it? If I can help you find your way do you think you can find it and bring yourself up from the hole you're in and be what you once were? Strong and a planner...someone who can run things? Can you be that again?" Could she relcaim herself and perhaps prove to be worth more than she thought?

Her words made him wonder...made him want to keep her and push her...to see if she would bend, break, or grow stronger and blossom. Was there more to her than just some employee. Was she just speaking highly over herself with nothing to back it or was it all true. He wanted to find out - he needed to.

"I think I'll be keeping you around. I want to see what you can become."

Kayden nodded slowly. England. What a funny coincidence. It was no wonder she had been drawn to this store…no wonder it felt like home. Like a shop that belonged in London.

She paused as his words began to slowly process through her mind. He was…asking if she could be the planner. The one who ran things, and slowly a true smile began to grow on her face. “I…think I could become that persona gain if I had focus. If I had something to run. Something to plan, something to think on other than my own tragedy…well. I think I could do just about anything.”

There was hope growing in her chest and the brunette sat a little straighter, tossing her hair behind her shoulder. “…So…does that mean I have the job, Alexandre?” If she had the job…she could move on. Maybe not all at once. It would take time…but she could start. She could find a focus.

She could truly begin to heal.

"Good. I'll start easy on your but I'm going to raise the bar as time goes. If it's ever too much let me know - I want honesty. I won't push more than you can handle. But I want to see what you can do." If she was as good as she said she was. He wanted to see what potential she had. If she was what she said...well she might just wind up doing more than working here for him.

"You have the job, consider it settled." Reaching out with a hand to shake. "I want honesty, above almost anything else I want that. You were honest on where you've been and where you are currently. I want to see if you are as good as you said you are...I think you will be." He had a feeling she would prove herself to him, as she said she would.

"I will be honest as well. I expect what I give." Not to mention he was s**t at lying. Omitting the truth...well that he was good at. "Let me show you around the store and you can get a feel for the brands we carry and I can answer questions if you have any. If I can't answer it I'll direct you to where it can be found." H loved fashion, especially the high end brands, but he didn't know it all. He was willing to admit to it. He'd do his best, as usual.

Kayden took the extended hand, and couldn’t hide the smile that had suddenly bloomed on her face. She had the job. She had moved forward and now had something to do each day. That…this would be good for her. With a firm grip, she shook the hand and nodded. “Thank you. I won’t fail you. I’ll do all that I can. I’ll learn about what clothes are fashionable again. I’ll make you proud.”

He was giving her a chance, even if she had spoken too much and made a fool of herself. He was giving her a chance and she was sure as hell not going to waste it.

Quietly, Kayden got up, nodding. “I’m ready for the tour, and a schedule. I can work any time, and I’m ready to start as soon as you’ll have me.” She would work hard, and she would see that he didn’t make a mistake in putting his faith in her. “I will do all that I can.”

"I'll talk with you about the schedule as we walk. I want to know the best times, even if you say you are open. Some people do prefer nights and some mornings." Some people simply functioned better at different times of the day, and he knew that.

Offering her a hand he would show her around and let her get a feel for the place, the brands and styles they had. "I think in time you'll be right on trend with where fashion is at currently. I'll help you along the way and so will the store." She'd just have to look at what was coming in as well, it would help a lot.

"Come on, lets get you looking around. And there is a discount for working here as well. So if you see anything you like - keep that in mind."
