Her nerves were still slightly rattled from her time in the Ruins and the whole ordeal that happened with the pest that was Talltale. Russet Fawn has come to allow the Jack Hop to remain with her, but she tries to keep him at a distance. For the past couple of nights her dreams were invaded by another source. This one was from a distance. The images were always quick glimpses, blurred scenes. Everything was never at its clearest as she woke up the next morning. These dreams always left her disoriented and feeling like she had never slept the night before. Shaking her head, Fawn got up and looked around. Talltale was still sleeping in the small des he had dug out under s tree. Seems he thought it was safer to sleep underground, even if she wanted nothing to do with it.

"Hey, Talltale." She said poking her muzzle into the den opening before stepping back as the cream and seal point Jack Hop came out yawning and rubbing his face with his paws.

"What's up?" he asked looking up at her still sleepy eyed.

"I've been getting strange dreams and I need to see what is going on with them." She said looking around as she knew the Jack Hop would want to come too. "I need to do this alone, you stay here"

With this she left the grove that was home, Talltale shouting behind her. She knew this was something she had to do, alone. Sure the company would have been nice, but she didn't need the distraction. Shaking her head, Fawn picked up her pace to travel through Homewood to where it reached the barrens. Stopping where the grass met the dry crack lands. Fawn looked out across the desolate place, her mind thinking of her dreams.

"Out here, huh?" She muttered to herself as her ears flicked to the distant sounds behind her. Looking backwards she waited to see if anyone was following her, nothing.

Leaping over the threshold like there was some sort of boundary and headed deeper into the barrens. It seemed like days she traveled through the lifeless place until she came to the base of a plateau. Whatever it was was up there, looking from where she was there was a barely visible path. Taking that up, she crested the top and the base of a rather large white tree. Ears falling back, a chill ran over her as she approached the tree. She couldn't quite put her hoof on it, but there was something strange about this tree.

"So, you were the one." Russet Fawn said as she came to stand between two roots of the large and ancient tree.

Though no breeze passes through, Grandfather Tree's leaves rustle as Russet Fawn approaches.

Choose one of the following prompts for Russet Fawn's dream vision.

Quote:
Newly revived seeds have been planted in Homewood and started to sprout. A powerful Vivify noul has resurrected a new species that eats the new plants almost exclusively. How do you deal with this conundrum?

Quote:
While travelling the Barrens you come across the skull of a massive animal. You don’t have the magic to resurrect it here but dragging it back to Homewood on your own would be exhausting or nearly impossible.
What do you do?

Quote:
A storm whips through Homewood, tearing new plants up by their roots and forcing the animals to huddle together for shelter. The cold bites and the rain pelts down hard, but there are many things in the forest to protect.
What do you do?

At first Russet Fawn thought nothing happened before she looked around and she was no longer in the barrens. The large white tree was replaced with the lush forests of Homewood. Why was she home so suddenly? Had she been rejected and sent home? Shaking her head she took a moment to listen, was this her test then? Stepping carefully she looked down at the new sprouts poking out of the soil around her. With these new sprouts came the scurry and chewing sounds. Blinking a moment, trying to figure out where it was coming from. Russet Fawn finally looked down more closely she round the ground was covered in a horde of rodents. Dancing backwards she looked in horror at the patch of new sprouts.

"Where did all these things come from?" Russet Fawn sputtered as she watched in disbelief of the scene. "I have to do something to stop them from eating everything."

Her fear was that when the sprouts were gone they would start eating other things. While some things weren't worth eating, such as the stink berries that foals used to prank on their elders. Looking around, Fawn spotted a patch of large flowers, ones that were loaded with seeds in their centers and ringed with orange/yellow petals. Walking over to the flower, she looked at it closely. Seeds always seemed like a good feed for something as small as these rodents, so it was worth a try. Muttering something under her breath, a thanks of a kind like her father had taught her, she pulled one of the flowers from its stalks and went back over to the horde.

When she found a kind of center she shook the flower to dislodge some of the seeds. They fall to the ground and some of the rodents turn their attention to the seeds, their attention off the sprouts. A smile came to Fawn's face as she backed up and shook some more seeds free. More and more rodents started turning their attention to the seeds as they followed the trail from where they had been having a buffet. As Fawn continued to lead the rodents away, seeing she had a black stream of furry bodies coming in her direction. She tossed the flower into a patch of more like them. The rodents took off around her for the flowers.

"There, that should take care of them. Seeds are always plentiful." Fawn nodded to herself. "That and these little critters could help spread them around... Hopefully. If they get smart enough to hide them away for harsher weather."

These thoughts pleased Fawn as the rodents dispersed through the grass seeking other means of seeds. Around the ground beneath the flowers, discarded seeds laid at the surface awaiting for water to start taking root. Pleased, Fawn headed back to the sprout patch, she noticed a few seeds here too had gone unseen. To these she gently poked into the ground with a hoof to cover them. Glancing around, the sun seemed to never move in this state, Fawn took a small leafy branch to a nearby stream to wet the leave and shake it over the newly planted seeds. She could only hope these will take root and grow.

"Lets hope those little critters will keep to eating seeds and spreading them around." Fawn muttered looking around carefully, her guard was on the plants, wanting them to grow large and full of life.
