The life of a professor, an adjunct professor no less, was not exactly the most restful of existences. Gan perpetually had dozens of papers he needed to grade, lesson plans to update, correspondence to respond to. His own papers and research to consider. And, to top it all off, there was this little thing called The Negaverse which was, it turned, out, not some sort of fever dream, but another way to drain the man’s time away. So while he was a bit bothered by a sudden message from there, it didn’t surprise him in the least. Most unfortunately, it was the bothersome “corrupt eternal senshi” that he’d dealt with before, telling him to be ready in 10 minutes. He surveyed his papers that he had already graded—3–followed by the ones he still needed to go through—17–and sighed heavily, before scooping up the ungraded papers. “Here we go again,” he muttered, and gathered a few things to head out. He’d been given some training and lessons about how this ‘powering up’ business worked, so he knew to not power up right where he was. He also knew he could safely tuck these papers away once he’d done that, so he could go over them a bit in between whatever trite activity was demanded of him this night. He also grabbed a half-eaten box of walmart cookies, and his dinner (a bowl of instant ramen). He was eating said bowl, powered up, when the 10 minutes had expired.

Despite being, as some people would say, powerful, it was clear as day that Chara had no real discipline, being the Negaverse Agent he was supposed to be. As some would say, he was simply 'born' with this power, one he had earned in his last life, but not exactly earned now that he was here, in the Negaverse. Yes he attended lectures within the Space, and was aware of that there were some expectations from him, but any other time he was given was spent doing miscellaneous nonsense that did absolutely nothing to contribute to his organization. Who could blame him though? One day he was 'allegedly' minding his own business, the next he knew nothing at all. Life was boring, though his sweet lil' ol' kitten, Chip, did add a little more amusement to his life. And speaking of which, there was one particular Lieutenant he was rather amused with these days too. Some big, beefy ol' man who seemed like a fun egg to crack. There was always something fun about making a big man beg. If he recalled correctly, this man owed Chip an apology, so with the snap of his fingers, he sent a message to the man's communication device, and then scooped up Chip in his arms, teleporting to some random park in the city. Annnnd then a few minutes later, he pulled that Lieutenant right towards him, waiting patiently with his legs crossed at the ankles delicately. And of course, perched on top of a rather tall kiddie slide. "Hello, Tetra, so nice of you to join us." With the eyepatch, the menacing gaze, and the slowly pet kitten in his lap, Chara did his best to come off as the criminal mastermind he just 'knew' he was. "Whatcha got there? Coming to greet your superior in such a disgraceful manner. You should be embarrassed."

Chip had been buried in a pile of spare parts and unidentifiable shiny objects in his little workshop when Chara announced they were off on a mission or something. He was, of course, more than happy to oblige. And getting petted was always a plus. Upon his arrival, Lieutenant Tetrahedrite swallowed a lump of noodles, and along with it some choice remarks about a clear lack of understanding of the word 'disgraceful,' reasoning that to actually say that would be...unwise. Instead, he said in his fairly standard clipped tones, "Good evening," though he could not bring himself to actually mean 'good.' "This is dinner," he displayed it briefly before pulling a lid out of the air, sticking it on top of the bowl, and setting the whole thing to the side, allowing it to disappear. What a useful thing to do. Never mind any of the other 'perks' of the Negaverse. Apparently unfazed by the "menacing" gaze set upon him, Tetra stood in approximately a Parade Rest stance and said, "What can I do for you this evening, sir?" The emphasis on 'sir' was subtle, but definitely there. "Oh, cheerful as ever!" Chip declared with a giggle from Chara's lap, and rolled some to change the petting angle.

“Mmm... Sir. Heh, I like that.” There was a clear expression of amusement on his face as he stared down Tetra, one that eased the menacing away and showing his age much more clearly. Feeling Chip move against him, he pulled him up and cradled him properly, to give him a better view of their new toy below . “Did you just... Stick your ramen in your space pocket?” Huh, that was certainly something he never thought about doing before. “How do you know it’s not going to spill?”

Tetra blinked once, apparently not expecting that question. "Well," he said, channeling his inner Professor to seem like he was not caught off guard by an unusual question. "I put it in a sealable container." He reached to the side and pulled it back into existence again. His bowl was a rubbermaid or some such. "See? It might work to just stick a bowl in there, but...I don't wanna find out what happens if it's full of soup." The bowl vanished again in short order. "You know~" Chip said thoughtfully. "That is a good question!" He stretched, and gently batted Chara's hand absently. "I will have to test that later! Maybe I can rig up a feed system to load coffee or chocolate milk right in and out!" He giggled at the thought. Even if it didn't work...it would be fun to try.

"Huh. Convenient that is. Maybe I should do that too. I forgot tupperware was a thing." Along with many other things, but he would get to that some other time. "You can keep eating, I'm not going to like, smack it out of your hand for munching down on something, though I am so very hurt that you didn't bring some to share." Had he eaten dinner? Part of him wasn't quite sure if he had, things like eating and taking care of himself slipped his mind more often than not. It was probably pretty clear, given how thin he was. But Chip, no, Chip was probably getting a little chubby given how much Chara spoiled him. Absently, he poked the kitten belly, then carried him down to the ground with a single hop. "Did you bring the thing I asked for, for Chip? As an apology?"

With a small shrug, Tetra retrieved the ramen again. It wouldn't be any huge loss if the senshi was lying. Instant ramen wasn't exactly fine dining. "Yes, in fact, I did," Tetra replied evenly. He still sounded rather nonplussed, although his tone remained calm, not resigned. "An apology thing?" Chip asked, and wriggled around. "Oh, I hope it's a neat machine he's found!" Tetra blinked once, and a very slight smile briefly crossed his face as he shook his head in disbelief. "Ah, no," he said, and pulled a container of chocolate chip cookies out of the air, which he then opened to show Chara. "Just cookies." "Cookies?" Chip asked, and lifted his head up to peer at it. "Not as cool, but, good enough!" Truthfully, Chip didn't care much about food, and while he may have been constantly presented with treats, he didn't always eat them. No, what he wanted was new things to poke at and pull apart. Or just break.

"... My kitten is disappointed! You heard what he said, simply not cool." Of course. And it's a half eaten container, like you grabbed leftovers. How... Stingy." Chara withdrew Chip from within Tetra's reach, away from the cookies. They weren't even the good fresh, bakery stuff either! "Although he says it is good enough, he is but a tiny child, and cannot be made to suffer this sort of unhealthiness. SO! I have come up with the mission for today. Tetra, you are now required to find a gadget of some sort for Chip to 'work on'. Something interesting that he can tinker with. As you know, Mauvians are brilliant creatures, with knowledge far beyond our own. Given the right resources, their assistance to the Negaverse could push our own goals further along." That sounded smart, right? That all made perfect sense! And it had the added benefit of sounding like an actual command, and not just some bullshit he pulled out of thin air. It was, but it didn't sound like it. "Of course, you can finish up that dinner. But aren't you a full fledged adult now? That's not exactly a real meal, you know."

"Find...a gadget," Tetra replied, looking even more nonplussed, if that was even possible. "A new iPhone or something? I don't exactly have a lot of..." he paused, trying to think of the right English phrase. " discretionary funds," he concluded. "I could probably show you how to take better pictures with one, anyway. People love cat pictures." That may have been a thing he said as a distraction, but he wasn't kidding. "Well, why wouldn't people like pictures of me?" Chip asked. "I'm perfect! But new gadgets are more fun than pictures...I've got a few I got that I haven't taken apart yet, but more is better, right?

".. No. Why would I make you spend money on this?" Chara seemed entirely baffled by the very idea that Tetra thought of getting this by legitimate means! They were Negaversers! They could do whatever the hell they wanted and just teleport away if he really wanted that to be the case. "Yes, they love the cats and the kittens, and we can both agree that my little Chip is probably one of the cutest out there, but no, this isn't for internet fame or fortune! This is about bettering the Negaverse through the tinkering and production of assets that benefit us! Meaning, getting more machines for Chip to take apart! I'm thinking... Scrap yard, or taking over a Best Buy."

"I suppose I shouldn't be surprised," Tetra replied with a bit of a resigned tone, "That you'd suggest theft." He shrugged. "You are aware that the idea of our little organization is to save the world, right?" Save the world from...cutesy space invaders. The world truly is a strange place. He sighed, although before he said anything else, Chip chimed in, "Oh, what do you do when you take over a store?" he asked happily. "Does that mean we start selling stuff in the place? Oh, wouldn't that be cool? I could sell the best hats. They'd have little laser cannons, and radar!"

"And just exactly what is that supposed to mean? Clearly this is very, highly, incredibly important mission for the Negaverse. Our treasured Mauvians must be continuously provided with the latest and greatest of technological advancements, so that they can better serve our just and righteous cause!" Chara clearly had a hard time keeping a straight face in saying this all. Anyone with a lick of common sense could tell he was being facetious. ... To be honest, he had no real dedication to this 'so called' cause they followed. He was here for fun, and didn't really have anywhere else to go. Plus they gave him free s**t every now and then, and money to spend. And people like Tetra to boss around. Yeah, the Negaverse definitely had perks. "Taking it over means to, you know, just raid it. It's not like that place doesn't have burglary insurance in the first place, you know? Saving the world means sticking it to the man and basically just overturning the rich and mighty, who just trample over the backs of the little man anyway! And... No, Chip, you cannot sell hats, but it would be cute if you sold hats in the Negaverse to Lieutenants and such. The weak ones who need more to protect themselves."

“Uh-huh,” Tetra replied with a small nod, and a bite of ramen. “Yes, I can see that. Quite just and righteous.” He sighed, and shrugged. “I suppose there really are no consequences to doing things like that, are there?” A shake of his head. “Fine,” he said with a hint of resignation. So you want interesting gadgets. Maybe try something other than the latest electronics, then? Building tools, maybe. Lord knows Chip likes to build strange things, so new ways to do it would fill your desire, I should think.” “No hat sales?” Chip asked, and nodded sadly. “Okay, if you say so...I’ll just have to open my own store, inside Negaspace! Yeah, that’ll do it! And I’ll need all the tools I can get!” He thumped two paws on Chara’s arm to accent the statement.

"Hey, wars aren't won by simply being good and following the rules all the time, you know. Aren't you supposed to be some sort of history professor or something?" Chara had vaguely read that in his profile somewhere in the Negaverse database, but school was boring and something he didn't want to think about. There were alot of things he was trying to straight up avoid at this moment, things his empty brain just didn't want to process. What better way to do that then some shenanigans with a cute kitten and a beefy man who has no choice but to listen to what he has to say? He looked down at Chip, attention drawn by the paws tapping, and simply gave his ears a little pet. "The Kitten has spoken! What's the best and most expensive hardware store you can think of?"

"I'm...honestly surprised you knew," Tetra replied, and then gave a small nod. "Yes, I teach history at DCU." He gestured toward Chara with the ramen container. "That is a good observation. Wars aren't about rules. Though I do believe we are on the side of the man, as it were. Or rather, the man works for us? Some of them, anyway." He considered briefly going on with that line of thought, but the little cat was giving him a look that seemed to say 'feed me,' so he put it aside. "Anyway, hardware?" he asked instead, and pulled out his negaverse-issued tablet to do a bit of searching. "I think there's a likely place about a kilometer from here that would meet your... requirements. Chip mostly just looked pleased by this development, and purred lightly at the ear pettings.
