It wasn't the first time she was going to be leaving the arena by herself. She had just gone through another practice session with her roller derby team and she was exhausted! She was happy though. Even if it was cold and miserable outside, at least she found a way to warm up inside! Though it was a sport she played throughout the year, she would have to go somewhere else if she wanted to bike, and that just wasn't possible at the moment, what with going to Community College and trying to keep up with classes.

She had just finished showering and putting her clothes on and took a moment to look at her phone, trying to find excuse after excuse to keep herself inside for as long as she could before she had to bundle up and find her way back to her apartment. It's not that she hated the cold, but when one couldn't do anything in it, it felt like more of an obstacle than something that was just passing through.

Still, she would have to do it, and as she passed into the main hall with only her coat left, she took a quick glance into a nearby mirror to make sure that she had fit her hat on correctly.

In the absence of Mauvians to tell him when someone had potential, it meant Remarque needed to be alert and aware of all potential candidates to join the Dark Mirror Court.

...Which was to say, he had to always be on the lookout for anyone who might be worth taking into Mirrorspace, to see if the Black Mirror within could find any potential with him.

He kept his eyes on Destiny City, on their gyms, their sports teams, their academics. A Senshi could come in any shape or form, but he was always looking for the best.

The weather made him reluctant to travel to his usual haunts to gather energy, so using this as an excuse kept him inside, and warm. It was dangerous, to make himself visible in any group environment where he could be seen and not easily explained as a dream--but at this hour? He'd be lucky if he found even a single straggler.

Which was, at the very least, good for a quick energy grab. It was a simple explanation often--worked too hard and, exhausted, passed out. No one put much stock in a dream they'd had under such circumstances--if they even remembered it.

When Remarque had first peered through the mirror from the other side of Mirrorspace, he'd seen no one. Blair's pace didn't put her into his line of vision until he was halfway through the mirror--and by then, it was too late to pull out.

The Eternal Dark Mirror Senshi took it in stride though; he wasn't one to get flustered.

He was one to take advantage of an opportunity as it presented itself.

"Evening," he greeted, just as the mirror rippled back to normalcy behind him.

Blair had turned around after she adjusted her hat and was putting on her coat when suddenly she heard a voice behind her and jumped, turning around suddenly to hit whoever it was with one of her skates. She just managed to keep from hitting the... completely weird-looking stranger who had suddenly appeared, but kept her guard up as she took him in. "Who the hell are you?!" She asked, deciding not to return his "greeting". After all, for all she knew, she had been alone in here. Now there was suddenly some strange man, with a weird outfit on, who looked like he had escaped from an Anime or something, standing near her and trying to greet her.

"Look, I don't know what you want, but if you even try anything funny, I am not afraid to hit you!" Well, that was a bit of a lie. She was afraid to hit him, only because she would probably end up braking her skates and she would have to buy new ones. Unfortunately Roller Derby skates were quite expensive and she did not want to have to spend that money.

Remarque raised a brow as he watched her. "Well, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I'm not much in the way of comedy," he said, eyeing the skates she was holding. He'd been around enough to know that skates were expensive, and he'd paid enough attention to the posted meetups to know that if she was leaving with those, it probably had something to do with the roller derby practice from earlier.

Roller derby was not a sport for the light of heart, and he'd seen some of those girls give and take more damage than he'd seen grown men twice their size handle in the ring.

Naturally, his interest picked up a bit.

"Got an offer, actually. I'd warrant you're the type to take risks," he said, eyes on her skates. "...And I'd guess that you're the type who wants to be the best."

You didn't join a team with the intention of being the weak link. Sports were rough and competitive. You didn't play for second place, you wanted to be the best.

Needed it.

"And that's what I'm looking for. You can't live in Destiny City and not know that there's a hell of a lot going on below the surface of things. And a lot of people are going to get hurt if I can't stop it. Can you give me fifteen minutes of your time to help me?"

He seemed genuine enough, for a man dressed like he stepped out of some fairy tale. Or a mirror.

He kept his distance, not intent on crowding her. He was a nosy creature, a curious one. Most of the time, he chanced that others were, too.

If she agreed, good. They'd go to Mirrorspace and see if the Black Mirror found any use for her. If she declined, the wraiths he had on hand would make sure she didn't make it to the door before she passed out.

He didn't have anything to worry about either way.

Blair frowned as the weirdly-dressed man mentioned comedy, and then became slightly angry when she realized what he had meant. She felt herself almost wanting to growl at him and not caring if she broke the skates over his head, when he said that he had an offer.

"An offer? From you?" She asked, eyeing him up and down while giving him a look. She didn't really care about being the best, but she did like to be on a team and being competitive. "Why should I follow you?"

He then started to talk about what was happening in Destiny City and Blair couldn't help but admit that he was right in a way. She had talked to her cousin, Cynthia, and she had run into strange things too. And she had wanted to know. Sometimes she felt like her cousin was hiding things from her and Blair didn't like it. If she could find out though... "Fine. Though if there's any funny business going on I'm out." And she wasn't afraid to use her skates for some self defense.

Remarque seemed a little amused at the mention of anything funny going on, but replied, "It depends on your sense of humor, I suppose. No matter what happens, you won't believe me until you see what's going on. Which requires a bit of trust, I'm afraid. But you seem like you're well equipped to defend yourself."

He extended a hand to her. "...It's through here," he said, one hand on the mirror. It rippled beneath his palm, the only indication that he might not be crazy.

That, and the fact that he had already stepped through it once to get here.

"My name is Remarque," he introduced, figuring that any introduction might have earned a bit more trust from her--or, at least, given her a little less reason not to trust him. "..And I appreciate your help. I'll try not to take too much of your time."

Blair hesitated for a moment, really wondering if she should trust this guy. Would she be okay or would she wake up tomorrow morning with a kidney removed? Well, it had to be something weird. There was no way an ordinary person could come through a mirror like that. Unless it was fake... She felt a shiver go up her spine. Now she really wanted to make sure that there weren't a bunch of fake mirrors out there that people were using to spy on others.

She took his hand, still nervous about the whole thing, but now she was curious and wanted to see for herself whatever this man had to offer. "I'll go with you for now, but I'm willing to defend myself if need be." She said to him, before looking at the mirror and giving it a nervous look.

She inhaled, then exhaled. "All right Remarque. I'm Blair. And yeah, doing this quickly would be nice. I'm still unsure of all of this." Seriously though, when would they get moving? Standing around here was making her nervous about the situation.

There was no awkwardness when Remarque took her hand; he kept a steady grip, intent to make sure they stayed together. "It won't come to you needing to defend yourself. If there was any trouble, I'd take care of you."

It was the least he could do, given that she had agreed to come into Mirrorspace with him. Though, he couldn't help but hope a little more now than before that there was something special about her. He didn't want to just drain her and let Mirrorspace drop her off somewhere in the city.

He'd given too many citizens the dream of Mirrorspace in these past few months; he wanted a success.

He wanted a new addition to the Court.

Remarque moved to the mirror, one hand resting atop the cold, smooth surface; it rippled beneath his touch, shimmering like water before he stepped through. It swallowed him first, and then Blair as he pulled her along. The sensation was cold, like jumping into chilly water, but it faded quickly.

The dark city night was suddenly replaced by a stark white room covered in mirrors. A great set of doors leading into the next room was open, inviting. Remarque allowed Blair a few seconds to adjust before he began tugging her towards the room. A few steps in, he dropped her hand--if only so as not to crowd her--but he stayed close enough that he could grab onto her if there were any sort of issues.

"Right in here," he nodded, taking long strides towards the room. His eyes were on a great black mirror in the room and he nodded towards it as they walked. "...I need you to stand in front of the Mirror. I just need to know what you see in the reflection."

If it was just herself, he'd just have to drain her until this was no more than a dream. If she saw a reflection, a powered reflection...

...Hell, if she saw anything, he'd be happy.

Blair felt herself being pulled along, and tried to move her feet to keep up. It was mostly a success, but she felt herself falling a little when she was unable to keep up the pace at first. Suddenly though, there was a chill, goosebumps went down her arms and then she could tell that they were... somewhere else. Where were they? Did she really want to know the answer to that question?

It was nice that Remarque let her adjust before they started walking again. The whiteness of the room was what had thrown her off at first and she needed her eyes to adjust for a few seconds.

Then they were walking again and she could tell that he was headed towards... something. At first she couldn't tell what it was, but as they got closer it was another mirror. Original she couldn't help but think and laugh to herself silently. When she was able to see what the reflection showed a bit, she felt herself jumping, almost grabbing onto Remarque's arm as she saw that it was her but she looked different. Like she was going to a Christmas party or something, it wasn't the poofy clothing she was wearing for sure!

"Definitely see myself in a lot less clothing than I have on right now, what's going on? What am I supposed to be seeing?" She asked, no wondering if she should regret having gone with him into wherever this was.

Remarque exhaled and a cool, smug satisfaction replaced any concern or doubt he'd had for this choice.

"No, that's good. It means I was right about you." He placed his hand lightly on the cool glass of the Mirror; he had never tried to mirrorwalk through this one, but there was something that just seemed twisted about trying.

"Like we did before, you have to walk through through the mirror. What you see in there, that's power. Latent within you, until you accept it. What you're seeing is an invitation to reach out and grab it, to make it yours. If you don't go now, you'll lose the opportunity to do so in the future. But, the Mirror is inviting you, willing to share its power with you. So, if you ever wanted more from this life, it's standing right in front of you. Step through the mirror and claim it. It'll be dark," he reported--that's what the others who had awakened in this way had said. "But you'll hear a name, you'll find your power source, and you'll claim it. And then the path will guide you home, here to me, and I'll tell you everything else you need to know. But don't waste this opportunity. It's once in a life time, and it's the key to actually making a difference in this world."

Blair looked at him, then back at the mirror, then back at him. "Am I going to be able to get out of there?" Exactly how did one walk out of a mirror? Was it like an opening? Even if he said there would be a path, it made her nervous, especially because she was supposed to hear some voice or something telling her a name. She just wanted to make sure she would be able to get out and that he wasn't trapping her in some mirror eternity or something.

She took a breath, and let it out, before stepping closer to the mirror, and moving her hand towards it, wanting to test out how exactly it worked. She moved it forward until she could see it partially go through the mirror and jerked it back! She shivered. It creeped her out a bit to be honest. Well, the whole situation did, but this even more so.

Another breath, and she steeled herself for whatever may come even if she couldn't predict it, and stepped inside of the mirror. As soon as she did, she could hear something, starting out as a whisper, until she could fully hear the name "Varda". Varda huh... She thought a moment to herself, surrounded by darkness. However, the curiosity soon faded and the start of wanting to panic finally hit her and she almost started to freak out, until she felt something.

She wasn't sure what it was, but she touched it, and she was blinded for a bit, whether it was by light or by darkness she couldn't tell. After a moment though, she could see again, or at least a path, and she followed it, until she couldn't feel the ground underneath her foot, and found herself falling out of the mirror!

Remarque waited as patiently as he could manage; his arms crossed over his chest and he was thirty seconds away from tapping his foot impatiently when he felt the surge of a Dark Mirror energy signature--and then, she was back.

His eyes flashed with excitement, but the rest of his face was a bit more reserved. His brows arched with visible interest and he nodded his head approvingly as he reached an arm out as if to help stabilize her.

“There,” he concluded. “That wasn’t so bad, was it? --How did it go in there?”

It took a moment for her to remember where she was, what had happened, and for her brain to catch up with the fact that she had been caught. She nodded to Remarque before moving herself to stand and making sure that she was steady on her own two feet. "Well uh... it wasn't terrible. But I wouldn't want to do it again let's just say." That much darkness had started to freak her out a bit and with voices coming from it? She would have much preferred a lighted room.

She looked at her arms and checked the rest of her clothing, which felt nice compared to the heavy jacket that she had just been wearing. "Clothes feel good though. But what happened to my old ones?" She really hoped that they hadn't disappeared out of nowhere. How else was she going to get home in the cold?! As much as she liked the outfit, it was a bit "light" for the type of weather that was currently happening where she lived.

Remarque couldn't help but rack a small smile. "Well, the good news is that you won't have to do it again. The better news is that you're in the Dark Mirror Court, now. Which," he gestured to her outfit, "Comes with more perks than just a new wardrobe. But I'll go over all of that with you--how to 'power up' into this again, how to access magic. What this place is."

She was in the Court. He didn't have to worry about censoring himself. Their team had grown and he would make sure she had every resource available to her to survive.

"If you want to go back to your old clothes, it's easy, though," he explained. "You just have to take a minute, clear your head, and imagine slipping back to them. You'll be able to switch back and forth depending on what you need. It's easy, and it only gets easier. But," he held out his hand. "Welcome to the team. What name did you pick up in there?"

"Court?" She couldn't help but be curious. She wasn't sure what type of "court" this was and could only think of King Arthur and his knights or some sort of courtroom. Only the first one sounded fun so she hoped that it was closer to that. "Yeah, definitely I want to know all about what I've gotten into." She wasn't sure if she wanted to come to this creepy place again considering how white and unfilled it was. Hopefully if they had a base it was better than this room.

She listened to him and nodded. "I'll change back when we go back to the Derby building. It's actually warmer in here compared to the cold outside. Would rather just go straight home though so I could skip all of that. I'm assuming since we came in here through one mirror, that we could go through another to get closer to my house?" That was usually how it worked with traveling through mirrors right? At least that's what she remembered from all of those superhero shows and anime that she watched. "And it was Varda. At least it's easy compared to yours." She replied giving him a small smirk. She meant it in a joking way, but she was glad that it was at least easily pronounce-able.
