Buzzi, in his opinion, was a pretty awesome dude. He was calm and collected and outgoing and awesome and who wouldn’t absolutely fall head over heals for him the moment he thought about wanting to like them?

Yet despite all this and all the confidence he simply oozed, he was completely stumped at the moment.

Nix wasn’t just some average kid at his school who could be impressed with some simple chocolates and flowers! Probably. No, Nix was incredible. Super powered, strong, brave, all those things that made a hero, and all the things that simply took Buzzi’s breath away.

Yes, yes he was smitten. And had absolutely no idea what to do about it.

So... He thought about it for a long while, and then decided to buzz up a friend. His fingers flew across his phone, hoping that the Mauvian on the other side would answer.

Hey hey hey, Arthur! It’s Buzzi, you know, fly-boy, buzz buzz, ooh, things get dizzy, Senshi! I got a favor to ask, so do you got some time to meet up? I heard there’s a really good churro trunk that hangs out in the park near 31st street, so I’ll totally treat you and get you like, 50 churros and a taco if you hear me out! Whatcha say?

“Yeah, well, It’s not exactly senshi stuff so I didn’t know if you would want to do the thing or not. I dunno if there’s like, certain rules and regulations that need to be followed when it’s not just training or doing the whole senshi learning thing. If it’s personal, you know, you go out to eat and chat over tea or coffee, or in this case, churros.” He was rambling still, and he knew it. Part of him was overwhelmingly giddy at the thought that he could talk about this weird feeling he had these days. It wasn’t like he could talk to Toby about it. Or his mom or any of his siblings.

But a cat? Yeah, a cat could totally keep a secret.

“I’ll text you the address and meet you there soon, okay? Okay, perfect, laters!” Without even thinking about a response, Buzzi hung up his phone and scrambled about his room to get ready.

And then boom, next thing he knew, he was pacing in front of the churro truck. His outfit wasn’t so strange compared to some of the other senshi, so with a simple hoodie thrown on too cover the chill, he was completely normal looking to an ordinary civilian. Still obviously powered to anyone else, but whatever.

Hopefully Arthur would be here soon.

It didn’t exactly cross Buzzi’s mind when he was plotting everything out that he didn’t really need to be powered. When everything went down last time, the fact that Arthur didn’t need to be a cat to talk kinda got lost to, well, everything else.

In his mind, he was going to get here, get some churros, and carry away a cat and go sit on a rooftop somewhere. In fact, that probably would have been ideal for him, since his fidgety hands could focus on petting fur than on whatever else they would fumble around with as he spewed out his guts for a while.

Clearly, Arthur didn’t think that, so the moment it was mentioned, he powered down, thinking very little about who saw him in the dark. what he had been wearing and his civilian clothes looked nearly the same.

“Right, right, sorry! s**t, I forgot the whole cool hidden power thing.” He wouldn’t mention the whole ‘I thought you were going to just be a cat.’ Part. It didn’t matter anyway.

“So, yeah, uh... right! Churros! Do you like churros? How many do you want? How many can you be bribed with for advice?”

"Sorry, Sorry. It won't happen again." Izzy did look kinda distressed by the thought of suddenly being caught with 'his pants down', or his glamour out and open, but it passed his mind pretty quickly. Just like his mom lectured him on the importance of being home on time, it kinda went in one ear and out the other. Not that he was a bad kid, per se, it was simply not on his mind. Secret identities, powering up? All that pretty much meant very little to the kid who was scrambling around for his wallet and hopping over to the vendor to place the order.

To a kid like Izzy, powered stuff was backburnered pretty easily. He obnoxiously accepted the fact that he was one of those amazing, awesome superheroes who could do super powered s**t and be incredible and all that. Things that came from that just slid off his back like water. Even the first moments of meeting a talking cat meant nothing to him later one when the next big thing happened.

But this weird thing with Nix weighed on his mind a lot more. It was as they said, all teens feel like their first love was true love, and by hell if it didn't feel that way.

"Fine, three churros, and if you want some more later, we'll get you some more." With the warm, cruncy, soft, sugary treats obtained, he grabbed Arthur by the wrist and led him to a table and then plopped down.

And then suddenly, he looked very serious.

"No... Well no, not really, nothing super happening just... I wanted to talk about Nix. Just how well do you know him?"

“Training you? What—- Nevermind, that’s not important right now, we’ll talk about it later. So you’re saying you know him.... Okay cool.” Why was it so easy to talk about someone else’s crush, than it was his own? He hounded on Toby all the time to just go and confess already, so why couldn’t he do it himself?

... Super powers, that’s why.

“Nah, no no no, he’s good. He’s amazing and just the coolest kid I’ve ever met! But like, I don’t know him really well... And you know... I just kinda want to know him better, what he likes, what he wants to do, and all that, but a surprise, so I don’t want to ask him out right.” Arthur knew what he was talking about right? Even cats had their weird romances!

“So.... Yeah, do you know anything about that?”

“Ask him out right? Nah, dude, it’s supposed to be a surprise! I already ask him to hang out when we can and all that, it’s more like... I dunno, I want to change the context of hanging out.” Did he have to actually spell it out?

The more he thought about it, the more his face got red and he groaned.

“... Valentine’s Day is coming soon... so... Maybe something along those lines..”

No matter how much Izzy adored Churro’s, he just couldn’t focus on eating those sweets. Arthur was more than welcomed to eat his fill.

“Dude, you’re older than me, can’t you do the whole ‘read between the lines’ thing? Why do I have to spell this out for you..?” He muttered, pressing his palms to his temples like he had a headache coming.

“I want to hang out with him, but I want it to be a date, and I want to find out how to ask him out best so I wanna know what he likes so I can maybe use that to ask him out! Does that make sense? Do I gotta be even more blunt??”

.... What? Why bring up the senshi thing? Sure it was cool and everything, and maybe would be a good conversation later, but that whole thing didn’t really matter to Izzy right now.

He nearly rolled his eyes at it, since it wasn’t really all that related to what he said. Age or not, didn’t this man-cat-thing say before he had some sort of romantic relationship with a human before? Still way more experience the he did.

“ Yeah, okay, sure, you could be like, what 15 years old. That’s neat, but... That doesn’t really help now, does it?”

But the the conversation went on, and he relaxed a little, the grips he had on the side of the table relaxed.

“I don’t think it matters too much for me, but as senshi, I don’t think it’s all that easy to just ‘bump into him’. The city is way too big for that. I was thinking more like surprising him with a gift or calling him out to see if... I dunno, he wants to hang out too. I’m the bravest, for sure, so hit me with whatever you got.”
