The weather report called for snow, and a lot of it! Overnight, a foot of snow has covered Destiny City in a beautiful blanket of white, and schools and most businesses are closed! When you venture outside however, the air feels almost temperate, and picking up the snow is a lot like picking up some sun warmed sand at the beach. What might have caused this? Is it global warming playing some sort of trick, or just the imps that seem to linger in the city? The strangely warm snow day lasts for only a day though, by the next day, the air is bitterly cold again, and all of that wonderful snow is somehow gone without a trace!

Phedre woke with a start when her phone rang loudly from the nightstand beside her bed. With a groan, she rolled over to pick it up and in her half-dazed state, she pressed the button on the side. The regret was near-instant when the screen lit up with a brightness that rivaled staring at the sun directly with how dark it still was outside and even in her room.

“Good God.” Her eyes squinted as she tried to read the name but before she could press accept they were immediately sent to voicemail. Honestly, for the time it was, they should have simply sent a text.

Ask and so you shall receive, or so the infamous saying went as the next sound she heard was the pinging noise of a message being received.

Hey Phedre, sorry to wake you. Just wanted to give you a heads up that due to the current weather conditions the studio is going to be closed today. Don’t worry, the agency has agreed to pay the cancelation fee and rebook you for sometime next week. Text me if you have any questions or concerns.

Phe rolled her eyes, “you mean like you should have done in the first place?” she replied with a bit of snark to her voice then set her phone back down on the side table and tried to close her eyes and fall back asleep.

Seconds became minutes and minutes became a half hour before she finally said ‘to hell with it’ and got out of bed.

With it being Winter, the house kind of felt a bit nippy since the heater was turned off before going to bed but and she no longer had the comfort of her heated blanket to keep her warm. But that was what fuzzy socks and oversized sweaters were for, right?

Wrong.

That’s what having systems linked together that could be accessed via an app on her phone was for.

Switching on the light, Phedre went back over to her phone to turn the thermostat up so the house warmed while she was in the shower. Moments like this she wished she had a roommate or an exted guest living with her. Not that money was a problem for her but it would make her feel a bit better about wasting energy this way if there was someone else around to enjoy the comfort with.

Peeking through the blinds to get an idea of what kind of weather she’d be dealing with, it appeared that mother nature had a bit of a temper tantrum of sorts last night because in the period of just a few hours there was well over a few inches of snow like the weatherman predicted. By the way Tim had worded it, she assumed there were just a few inches to contend wth. But now that she was actually looking...it appeared that there was at least a foot if not more, either way, it was enough to make her groan. At least it seemed like the snowplows had been through not long ago

After her shower, she got ready for the day with a knitted sweater and a pair of denim jeans. If there was no work to be done then she may as well finish her holiday shopping before the sales ended. And so, figuring she would just get a coffee, or something, while she was out, she grabbed her keys, a pair of gloves and thick winter coat with a faux fur trim hood then retreated into her garage to grab a shovel to clear the driveway so she could get out.

The most interesting surprise came when opening the roll-up door and realized that, for one reason or another, it actually felt warmer outside than it did when she rolled out of bed.

“This isn’t right…” Phe removed one glove and felt her forehead with the back of her fingers assuming she was more than likely coming down with something but her forehead felt fine.

Confused, and concerned that this might just be the first symptom of more to come, she put the shovel back, closed the door and went back inside. Clearly, she had not gotten enough sleep last night, this weird phenomenon was just her body telling her to get more rest.

“Yeah…” Hanging up her coat back in the closet, Phe shook her head disbelievingly then grabbed a glass of water from the kitchen and retreated back into her room. Not even bothering to remove her clothes and put the pair of pajamas back on, she crawled back into bed, and this time, turned off the sound on her phone before falling back asleep for no less than seven hours before waking up again
