Closes February 5 @ 5pm PST

Do you stare longingly every time a new mutation pops up? Do you have the coolest idea for a mutation ever? Here's your chance to make that idea into a reality! One idea will be selected from this contest and turned into a new mutation and the winner will receive the first rabbit with this mutation! Please note that this contest is running on both Basilisk Stew and Gaia. You may submit one entry to each thread. One winner will be selected after compiling all entries.

Rules
- You may enter this contest on both Gaia and BS, but only once on each site.
- Your mutation will initially appear only on one breed.
- This contest will be judged on how creative the idea is, how well thought out the idea is and how feasible the mutation is to implement.
- By entering this contest you are allowing Hopscotch to make use of your mutation idea.
- Posting a mutation idea into this contest does not 'reserve' it for you or make it 'yours'. Please bear in mind we have many mutations preplanned. wink
- You are welcome to enter ideas with suggested allele interactions (eg. a new eye colour that only appears when Vienna is also present) but be aware these ideas may be changed or adapted to work with our genetics system.

Feasibility of Mutations
- We consider feasible mutation to fit into one of three categories: pattern, colour or physical. Your mutation should firmly fit into one of these three categories.
- Traits seen on other mammals are generally considered feasible. (Eg. Appaloosa would be considered a feasible pattern mutation.)
- Physical traits that alter 25% or less than the original lineart are considered potentially feasible. (Eg. An extra large tail.)
- New breeds are not considered mutations. (Eg. Angora.)
- Traits from non-mammalian creatures, other than colour, may not be considered feasible. (Eg. A fish rabbit would not be considered feasible for this contest.)

Mutation Name: Pronghorn

Mutation Information
Pattern, colour or physical?: physical
Generally describe your mutation: Adds a pair of pronged horns to the rabbit's head, like an antelope. Or a jackalope.
How does your mutation work: kits are born with small horn buds, one above each eye, which grow to full horns by adulthood
How does your mutation interact with other genes: males have long horns that are curved and pronged as seen in the above pictures. Females have smaller horns, which are straight and not pronged. Based on sexual dimorphism of pronghorn antelopes. Example of both sexes here.
Where does your mutation initially appear: Standard

Mutation Name: Claw growth

Mutation Information
Pattern, colour or physical?: Physical
Generally describe your mutation: Sometimes rabbits grow extra long claws. These can be very sharp and quite dangerous.
How does your mutation work: Rabbits with this gene have abnormally fast growing claws. Most rabbits can keep their claws short through normal wear and tear, but rabbits with this mutation generally have a harder time of it.
How does your mutation interact with other genes: It should be independent
Where does your mutation initially appear: Standard

Mutation Name: Rings

Mutation Information
Pattern, colour or physical?: Pattern
Generally describe your mutation: Causes rings of phaeomelanin to appear on the rabbit's ears, tail, and legs.
How does your mutation work: Rings appear on the rabbit's ears, tail, and all four legs. Could be standarized to a specific pattern or number/placement could be allowed to vary for diversity
How does your mutation interact with other genes: When paired with the wideband gene, rings are more intense colour and bigger.
Where does your mutation initially appear: Standard

Additional references: inspired partially by these guys, but also kinda by like. lemurs and raccoons? I'm 100% flexible on pigmentation!
