It starts off quietly at first. A single, tinkling sound that starts at the back of mind. You think it’s nothing. Ringing in the ears isn’t anything new. But soon enough it rings and rings and rings, to the point where you simply know it’s something more than simple tinnitus. It grows so loudly, developing into a sound beyond the confines of your home.

A mighty urge overtakes you, forcing you out of wherever you are and filling you with a desperate need to locate that awful ringing.

For some, it feels like you walk for hours and hours, for others, mere moments, but either way, you find yourself before a shimmering, frosted archway blocking your path into what seems to be the woods. It seems almost like fogged glass fills it, but you can clearly feel a breeze through it, and when you push your hand through, it gives no resistance.

Liam had been at home, it was too damn cold to go outside, making a warm drink for himself in the kitchen. It was odd still to be alone during the holidays and to have his own place, even if it had been sort of handed down to him. It was still something he was getting used to - he had freedom. He could make a drink for himself when he wanted to and he could eat whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted.

Tapping a slippered foot on the kitchen floor the golden haired male hummed out a song as he worked on melting chocolate for himself. Pausing as he heard a bit of ringing in his ear, nothing too unusual. He didn’t know what it was called but he was pretty sure it happened to everyone, right? When it didn’t go away after a few moments, as was normal, he rubbed at his ear, yawned, and just started to feel uncomfortable. Turning the heat off, not wanting to burn anything, the blond started to panic when it got louder...and louder...and louder. It wasn’t just a ringing in his ears - he was sure of it!

It was like the ringing was in the apartment...or maybe outside? But from where was the sound coming? It needed to ******** stop.

It was in a rush, mostly due to annoyance and anger, that Liam went to yank on shoes and a coat before heading outside, remembering at the last moment to grab his keys, as he headed out into the cold in order to track down this noise. He needed it to stop!

When he did seem to find the source it wasn’t what he was expecting, and it was so far from home, he was staring at some shimmery archway with glass there..foggy glass. There was nothing else there. “THe hell is this?” He spoke to no one, as he was alone, but he did reach out to tap at the glass and found his hand instead passing through the glass. Ok...this was strange. If his hand went through the glass than something was beyond it?

This seemed like something out of a fantasy novel, or a movie, and while he didn’t trust these sorts of things he didn’t see anything wrong and his hand was intact, as he brought it back from the glass. Looking around at the woods surrounding them he wondered how it had gotten here. There was no way someone just built an arch here, not to mention the magic thing going on with it. Something more was happening and he needed to figure it out, to know if it was safe or not. If it wasn’t he could call Rhona...maybe?

Maybe he should call Rhona now? Before he did anything stupid? He could, and he likely should, but he really didn’t want to bother her. Not to mention this seemed safe enough to him, at least right now it seemed safe, so he could deal with Rhona’s anger over this later. He didn’t need her all the time, though he did appreciate what she’d done for him, he could do this on his own. That in mind he took the first step through the archway and into whatever was beyond the frost glass.
