Quote: Rainfall is rare in Destiny City in the winter time. There have been a few light showers between the occasional snow but it’s never been enough to be significant. In some places, it’s just enough for a thin layer of ice to cover the ground and make it a little slippery, but ultimately it’s not enough to worry about. In an inconspicuous place in town, you step into an ice filled hole and it shatters. The hole itself seems maybe three feet wide and if you’ve ever seen the hole before you know it’s only a few inches deep at most. Except, when the ice shatters, you fall, plummeting as if into a lake of frozen water. It’s pitch black beneath the ground and only pale blue lights shimmer above you. The darkness around you is never ending and you can’t make out the details of anything except the shrinking hole above you. Maybe you remember how to swim and pull yourself out, maybe you black out and feel someone else pulling you out--either way, your frozen, soaking body is pulled from the puddle. The chill is immense, but if you look at the hole after being pulled out, all you can see is the ground below. There’s no sign that what you saw was real--except for the water soaking you. It had been a few days since she had gone to Selene’s house, she almost hadn’t left her room since then. Bryia wasn’t oblivious, her aunt was really being a helicopter parent. Bryia knew it was her own fault, she wasn’t really hiding her feelings but she didn’t walk to talk about them with her aunt either. She wasn’t sure what had happened that night, was she really attacked by a water creature or was it all in her head? It felt too real to be in her head, that’s what made it worse. Just the day before she had sat on the couch for almost 6 hours just staring out her window. She would have stayed longer but her aunt said she couldn’t stand the smell anymore. That night had changed everything and now it didn’t know who or even what she was. She remembers being so weak she was unable to speak, she was drooling like a baby it was so bad. She had lost control in front of someone else for the second time in one day. She had been so weak she wasn’t even able to stand. As if that wasn’t bad enough, those things were only a speck compared to the real shame she felt. He had been sitting in the snow, drool running down her chin, sitting in a completely filled diaper without the ability to walk, talk or crawl and she ... was content…. She was no better than a baby, no at least a baby cries to be changed she was completely content. Ever since then, everything had seemed so… pointless. It didn’t matter to her what the state of her protection was, she would have to be changed again… and again… and again… forever. She had spent months working and fighting for everything, and now in the blink of an eye she felt like she was right back to square one. No, this was worse. At least before she had the drive to fight her way back but now… now that drive was dead. It would be easy to say “it was all a dream” but something in the back of her mind told her it wasn’t. How could she face the world when she couldn’t face herself in the mirror?

Selena stood out in the hallway just outside her friend’s room for a few minutes, her closed hand hovering beside the door frame in hesitation. For as much flack as Bryia gives her aunt, she knew that the older woman actually cared for her niece. It had been a few days since Bryia came to visit her and while she had texted, her friend didn’t really seem in the mood to respond or had read it and forgot to reply. Either way, Selena didn’t want to push and had instead let things sit for a few days assuming something had come up. However, when her phone finally rang and she picked up excitedly, Selena found herself somewhat disappointed when the voice on the other end was one she didn’t recognize. For a moment she had thought it had been a wrong number but the woman then introduced herself as Bryia’s aunt and she decided to listen. I knew I should have stopped her from just leaving. Her mother had offered to give Bryia a ride home but she was so fleeting after finishing the cinnamon roll that Selena didn’t think twice about stopping her. Like a juggernaut, once in motion, there was no point in stepping in the way; Bryia was headstrong like that and with everything she was going through it was best to just let her regain the semblance of control over her life and choices she made. Drawing in a deep breath, Selena exhaled slowly then knocked on the door to the melody of the Frozen song when Elsa and Anna were children. knock - knock - knockknockknock♪ Do you want to build a snowman?♫ The melody played in her mind as she waited for Bryia to open the door.

Bryia had wasn’t sure how long she’d been staring out the window when the knock to her door came. Her aunt just couldn’t leave her alone could she? Now she was knocking on the door to a song from Frozen. “Go sit on a snowman’s nose!” She had just been up to check on her not even an hour ago, was she afraid she’d stop breathing?

Selena balked at the rather lude comment that came from the other side of the door. “I- uh… I’d rather not.” she replied. Putting her hand on the knob, she opened the door without even bothering to ask if Bryia was decent. With that attitude, she had to be and it wasn’t like she hadn’t already seen her friend mostly undressed since they both had to get ready in the same locker room before gymnastics practice. What she saw when she opened the door was a bit surprising and for a fraction of a moment, she understood why Bryia had a bit of a chip on her shoulders. Never had she ever pegged her friend to like the color pink, but aside from that, it was more the furniture that caught her attention. It really was designed to be a nursery. The bed was a crib, the dresser designed as a large changing table. Well, that seems a bit unnecessary…“So, out of curiosity,” Selena crossed her arms over her chest and leveled her gaze at Bryia. “Is this supposed to be you sticking karma’s nose in her own s**t? Because it looks to me like you’re wallowing in self pity.”

Bryia's heart skipped a beat when she heard Selene's voice, though her friend didn't look in a happy mood. It was then Bryia realized she should have per pants back on after her last change, though she never thought she'd have someone randomly show up. Despite that, she didn't feel shame Selene was seeing her all her padded glory. The side of her crib/bed was already down, she slid off the bed in front of her guest and pulled her pant on that were on the ground.
"This wasn't my idea." While it was true Bryia found her answer lacking the normal raw emotion she would have delivered at such a statement. "The room was like this before I moved in, my aunt just changed the dresser and bed. The rails are because I almost fell out of bed at the hospital a few times." Her words were monotone like she was reading from a boring history novel.
"As for karma...." Bryia looked out the window for a moment. "I think she won."

“I wasn’t talking about the room. I was talking about you and your attitude.” Selena crossed her arms and leaned against the doorframe effectively blocking Bryia’s chance to get out. Her mood, for all intents and purposes, was especially annoyed if not perturbed and it was quite clear she wasn’t going to take any nonsense now that she was here. “You should at least be glad to have a room. Hell, you could be like Jameson from our Current World Issues class who had to share a room with two other siblings, or even like Oliver who slept on the couch because his grandmother moved in after hip surgery.” Her expression went from annoyed to frustrated the longer she went on. “You don’t like the color, ask if you can paint it. If you’re nice about it, I might even come over to help as long as you’re polite about it.” Selena’s lips pursed into a thin line as she unfolded her arms and stepped further into the room. “Karma has been a b***h to you. You’ve gone through more in three months than most people have in a lifetime but have you at least stopped to consider how hard this is on your Aunt? She lost family too you know.” She threw her arm back to point out the door towards the kitchen-ish area. “Both you’re lives have been uprooted and just like you, she’s trying her best.” “I get it, it’s difficult to get around, that you’re exhausted easily. And yes, I understand it is embarrassing when you make noises and people are looking over their shoulders confused or disgusted. But at least show her a bit more respect because at the end of the day you still have a bed, you still have a roof over your head, and you still have at least TWO people who care about you.” Yes, she was including herself in that count despite how much she just wanted to walk over, put her hands on her friend’s shoulder and whack some sense into her with a pillow or one of her padded diapers. “Finish getting ready. You and I are getting out of this house.” There’s a glass half empty or a glass half full, unfortunately Selena was neither as the glass just spilled all over the damn floor as she threw her hands in the air and turned back towards the door. “And if you think about locking me out I swear I’ll find a screw driver and remove the handle.” She yelled before shutting the door behind her. If push came to shove, she was willing to wait out her friend even if it took all day.

Bryia was somewhere between flabbergasted and discountenance from Selene's outburst. She always knew Selene had boundaries not to cross and Bryia's like to bend them from time to time, even crack them for fun. However, this wasn't an attempt at all, she hadn't said anything offensive that she could think of. Nevertheless, Selene wasn't happy with her and now she was going outside in the snow. She let the pants she was holding up when Selene had started talking drop back to the ground. Normally Bryia would have opened that door and asked Selene what was her problem, that though was not something she wanted to do now. Like a frightened child who had just been yelled at by a parent she did as she was told. Her aunt had started laundry and her normal warm snow pants she had worn the other day was in the wash. With a dull look in her eyes she put on the only other pair of warm pants from before the accident. They did fit over her protection but did nothing to hide it, though at this point she was beyond caring. She finished getting dressed and restocked her “supply” bag, she hadn’t left the house since the last time she saw Selene so the bag needed to be restocked. With her bag stocked and her warm clothing on she left her room and found Selene waiting for her at the front door. Selene didn’t say anything just seemed to do a once over to make sure she was ready and then they headed out into the snow and Ice. Bryia had no idea where Selene was taking her, she just walked beside her and did her best to keep pace. While it was still early enough in the day everything seemed so silent in the air with the snow. Their walk was a silent one for the first few blocks, Bryia didn’t really know what to say. Just blurt it all out like verbal diarrhea? Would she even believe her? Bryia wasn’t even sure she believed what she saw that night. “I… I’m sorry.” She finally broke the silence. “The night I left yourself something happened, I think. Well I mean something happened but I don’t know what was real or…” She had to stop herself from rambling. Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes while walking for a moment to compose herself and started again. “After I left I got most of the way home when something… attacked me, I think. It looked like a girl kinda but had scales and horns, think what would happen if a human had a baby with a fish.” Bryia wasn’t sure she was doing a good job explaining it but figured if Selene stopped to ask questions it would get more confusing so she continued. “I attempted to hit her with my bag but it was like she was made of water and it passed right through her. I don’t know if it was the fight or the sugar but I ended up filling my pants again during this… fight I guess you could call it.” Her hand was placed on her forehead for a moment trying to recall the memories of that night. “I don’t completely remember everything, I remember the creature making fun of me for the accident. I remember falling on the ground too tired to move, thinking she was going to eat me.” This was the part that she didn’t want to say out loud the part that broke her but for Selene to understand she had to say it. “I remember lying there looking at the lights in the sky and… enjoying it. I was so tired I couldn’t even spec and I was drooling on myself for trying. But the worst part of it was that I didn’t mind that I was sitting in my own waste unable to walk, talk or speak.” Bryia rubbed one eye and then another, wanting it to look like something was in her eye and not that she was fighting off tears. “The next thing I remember is that the creature is gone, if it was ever there to begin with. It took a while but I got back to my feet and waddled home.” There was a brief pause as Bryia sniffled. “It wasn’t the creature’s attack or the thought of dying that hurts so much, it’s the fact that no matter how much I try to be better… I’ll always be just a big dumb baby.”

Sometimes responding to Bryia could be considered an art form in and of itself. There were times where morbid cruelty in the form of agreement was a motivating factor because it pushed her to want to prove the person wrong. Otherwise, there was the more suck it up buttercup and do better route. As mean as it may seem there really was no in-between But that was Bryia, she herself took things to the extremes so a gentle hand on her shoulder just really wasn’t an option. If anything, an act like that would likely just emphasize her current mentality and slide the lock into place keeping her trapped there in self-loathing depreciation due to her current situation. “You might be a big baby but you’re by no means dumb. Sure you like to say things to elicit a reaction out of people,” or to just hear the sound of her own voice sometimes. Not that it was wrong but timing can be everything when things just spill out unfiltered. “But you have a creative mind and will find a way to work through this. Your situation may or may not be permanent but your thought process or outlook can change.” “Yeah, I get it. There are several things you use to love that you can’t do anymore but there are still many other things you can do, or learn. The only person keeping you in that house, in that room, is you. Not your Aunt. Not our classmates. The what-if’s and Oh-shits are a terrifying thing to consider and yeah, people are going to be mean and cruel about it. But you’ve never given a crap about it before.” Selena smirked and elbowed Bryia teasingly. “If something happens and we have to find a place for you to change that’s fine. But just know,” She pointed a finger at her friend, poking her in the cheek in the process. “I’ll be damned if I walk behind you for any length of time. God forbid I get crop dusted.”

Arthur did not like the cold but he had been out to go catch a movie when he sensed the two ladies. It was not common to pass upon one senshi two was a first for him. It was a mixed blessing bit it seemed they were both friends which might make the transition easier. However, they were right in the middle of the sidewalk a d in the open which was no place for a conversion.
So instead he followed them, white coat blending in with the white snow, further back.

Was Selene trying to insult her or comfort her? “You’re right that I don’t give a crap what other people think…” She paused for a moment. “No pun.” “It’s not what they think it’s me. I worked so hard and at that moment it felt like I was right back where I started. The whole time I was gone the only thing I thought about was getting back to where I was, or as close as I could. Now…” She let out a sigh. “Now it’s all different.” She playfully elbows selene in the gut. “I’d be careful with the elbowing.” She says with a cocky smirk. “This thing is loaded and I never know when it will go off.” She gives her butt two hard smacks, though she didn’t even feel them. Bryia’s foot slipped for the briefest of moments, the ice on the ground was a bit more visible and seemed a little slicker than before. “I just… I just don’t know what to do now. My whole life was based around Gymnastic and going to college because of it. Now that’s gone, my grades aren’t good enough to get into a college without a scholarship. I feel like I’m going nowh…” Her sentence was cut short as her last step had caused the ice she was standing on to give away. However instead of her foot hitting the ground and her foot getting soaked her whole body fell through the hole. She felt like her bag had gotten caught as she was falling, she attempted to grab it but failed. It wasn’t a small hole it was like a whole lake she had fallen into. The water was like knives stabbing her all over, it was ice cold. She couldn’t see anything, everything was pitch back and the only light was the whole above her. She started to swim kicking toward the surface, she could see the light from the hole, was it getting smaller? She couldn’t believe it but it really looked like it was getting smaller. With everything she had kicked and swam, but every moment in the water her padded undergarment got thicker and thicker absorbing as much as it could. Now fully filled with ice cold water swimming was even harder and now she was weighed down by not only her wet clothing but her own protection. It can’t end like this… she thought. She just kept swimming to an ever shrinking light...

One moment Bryia was talking, the next moment she was falling… Out of instinct, Selena reached out to catch her friend before she landed hard on the ice injuring herself, physically or emotionally depending on the outcome. However, rather than falling forward or backward, as one would expect when seeing someone slip on a patch of ice, Bryia fell through the ground. The only thing that remained was the bag that was in her hand. Selena’s eyes went wide, mind completely blank from the shock of her friend suddenly disappearing. “Bryia!” she shouted, falling to her knees in a panic. The bag was discarded beside her as she tried to reach into the frozen water that was definitely deeper than a puddle. Her fingertips touched nothing but water. “BRYIA!” Again she shouted, this time removing her coat and boots in a haphazard rush to try and save her friend from drowning then took a deep breath and jumped in after her. The instant her body became submerged in the water, Selene could feel her own body curl into itself, as if she had been encased in a suit of rime it was near impossible to move but looking down she saw her friend sinking further and further into the darkness. Don’t you dare- Fight or flight was a wonderful thing in those moments like this it allowed people to do some extraordinary things. In this case, Selene fought with herself and despite the cold that threatened to steal the breath from her lungs, she swam deeper kicking as hard as she could until her fingertips painfully uncurled so she could grab Bryia’s wrist and pull her up towards that ever-shrinking pinprick of light above them.

Arthur did not like water. It was a long-standing enemy of his life. Not only was he not a grand swimmer, but winter rains had taken most of the hearing out of one ear. Swimming was not a pastime unless it was for his life, and he had never done so as a human-looking guardian.
But a car could not lift up two people and a cat couldn't call for help.
Standing there stunned, he watched as one girl sank into the biggest sinkhole he had ever seen, and in a panic, the other girl stripped off her coat and does and went right in. He wasn't sure if this was human protocol for swimming but she went right in and vanished too.
Rushing to the ice-crusted puddle, he stared in disbelief as the girls sank. Not even awakened and their lives were already threatened. In a flash he was shifted into his other form. A lank man in a sweater, jeans, boots and coat. Mimicing the girl, he threw the coat off but his boots were too laced to throw off.
"Oh Mau, you have got to hate me today." He said through gritting teeth.
Turning, he dove feet first in and the puddle happily accepted him.
Freezing cold, he sank into the water and was glad to see the one girl rising with the other in hand. So he reached for her and grabbed her by the nape.of her shirt much like he would a kitten and headed right for the light.
It was suffocating and cold, and the darkness was a eerie void that stretched like a cavern around them, but with a heave, he rose out of the water, and pushed the girls up and out of to the sidewalk cement.
With a grunt and a low hiss, he pulled himself out and caught his breath. "Oh great Chronos, that was rough " Without a coat, his poor tail was droopy and pathetic and his hair was now flat and darker blue. Out if the water, it actually felt colder with the biting breeze passing through them. "Are you two okay?" He asked through chittering teeth.

Bryia was beginning to lose hope, the more she fought it was like she wasn’t getting anywhere. Then, suddenly, someone grabbed her wrist, though it was dark she thought she could see Selene’s face and she kept pushing with all her strength she had left. A moment later another figure appeared, it seemed to grab ahold of Selene and helped pull us out. Coughing and wheezing was about all Bryia could do when she came out of the water. The water had been so freezing cold but outside seemed even worse now. Her clothing was all soaked and her diaper… Her pants had been tight to start with but now they had ballooned out as it absorbed all the water it could. She felt like she had 3 or 4 squishy pillows between her legs. She looked back to see the hole she fell in but it was gone, as if it had never been there. She heard a voice ask if she was alright. What she saw when she turned to thank him was even more confusing. The man had what blue hair, which was kinda cute but the cat ears and a tail was what made her stare in disbelief. That's it, I've finally lost it. She thought. “Well, I think that’s it.” She said to Selene between gasps of air. “First I think I get attacked by Nessy, the Lock Ness b***h. Then I imagine I fell into an endless sea of water under the sidewalk that is now gone.” She looks back at where the hole had once been. “Now I imagine I’ve been saved by Whiskers the Wonder Cat.” Bryia went from all fours and sat on her wet bottom. A very audio squish could be heard as she did so. She was cold, she was tired and now she’s gone crazy. “Selene just promise me you’ll come visit me in the nuthouse, or asylum or wherever they send me.”

Laying on her side, long teal hair clung to her face making her look more like a drowned rat than anything, Selene drew in a gasping breath of cold air that stung her lungs and sent her into a fit of coughs. It took a moment for them to stop, but in the absence of her coughing, she began shivering violently in the snow. “Yo-you-r-r-re. Not-t-t. Cra-cra-zy.” Struggling to roll over let alone sit up she instead settled for shooting her friend a glare, her teeth chattered so loudly it felt like they were about to break. “We almos-s-st-t drown-ned.” Almost, but didn’t. For a moment there Selene had that that the light above had been lost and they were doomed to die where nobody would find them but then a silhouette of someone jumping in after they filled her vision as she felt them grab on to the back of her shirt and hoist them out of the abyss. With more effort than it should have taken, Selene managed to sit up and then turned to thank the man who saved him but paused in shock and for a few seconds, the shivers ceased. “I uh…” she blinked in bewilderment then looked at Bryia and then back at their, for all intents and purposes, savior. Her gaze went up to little triangle pointed ears on top of his head then trailed down to the waterlogged tail behind him. Confusion knitted her brows together and came to three conclusions; he was a furry… , some anime convention she wasn’t aware of..., or she was going crazy just like Bryia. “I’m f-fine.” The blatant lie was less than convincing but she really wasn’t sure what to make of this current situation and didn’t think she was going mad either.

"I'm not a cat. I'm a guardian." He corrected as he took off his classes now that they were wet and useless to see though.
"And we are going to get hypothermia if we sit around here in the snow." He knew that proposing his place to two young women would be odd and come off as creepy, but it was close enough a d would give him a safe place to talk.
"Seems you have had more than one encounter with magic and the other side of things. I can probably help explain all that. Bit not out in the open like this and especially with us all freezing. My place isn't too far from here. You can warm up there and dry off."
"I actually need to talk to both of you about a serious issue." He said and slowly rose up. He went to pick up the one ladies coat, the bag, and his own coat. To Selene, he gave her her coat. To Bryia, he gave her his. It was a thick, long peacoat. He got it because it was stylish and Nat hadn't hated it when they went shopping.
"I promise I'm here to help."
