Quote: Midnight is a magical time of night; parties, dancing, kisses--there are a number of rituals celebrated in the winter nights. Every night as a midnight, but this one is special. There is an old church with an older bell tower on the quiet outskirts of town near a beautiful forest that has been decorated with lights to celebrate the season. Maybe you are alone, maybe you are with friends, or maybe you’re at a party celebrating one of the many events--whatever the case, small, delicate snowflakes have been falling lightly for the past hour. And then--suddenly--they stop. The clock strikes midnight and the bell echoes a low, metallic chime that feels like it can be heard for miles. By the second chime, you realize that nothing else is moving. Snowflakes are suspended in the air and all living creatures--plants, animals, and people alike--are completely frozen. The clock chimes twelve times and the world is still frozen. Suddenly, there’s no way to tell how much time has passed--but nothing moves. Maybe it feels like a moment, maybe it feels like an hour. You can try to leave the area but you can never go far enough that the church is out of sight. In an instant, time seems to snap back into motion. To everyone else, it feels like no time has passed. To you, you know. The church seems eerie and foreboding and if you return you feel uncomfortable, as though you have broken something and are unwelcome. If roleplaying with a partner, multiple characters can remain unfrozen as the world around them freezes!Had it been another year already? He could hardly believe it. It had already been a little over a year that he had been living with Key in their apartment. And it seemed that hardly anything had happened, at least when it came to the fighting. They had lived their lives as civilians, being happy, and almost forgetting that there was a magical war in the background. Or at least he had. He had tried his best to go on more dates and try more things with Key and it was... nice. Nice not being interrupted or attacked by anyone, it was as though things were calming down. That didn't mean that they were gone though. Perhaps it was the calm before the storm? At any rate, they were here, now, walking together and looking around and not too bundled up considering the time of year. Perhaps the seasons were now shifting a bit. He shook his head. Now was not the time to think of something like that. He turned his head towards Key as they neared the Church just wandering around. He could see his breath in front of his face, but it was faint. Still, he wouldn't mind going back home and getting a nice warm drink and working with Key to get warmed up... "You have anywhere particular you want to go or just want to keep wandering for a bit? We won't have a lot of time to do this before the really bad winter weather hits." He said, ending his speech with some disgust at the winter weather. Maybe they should save to go snowboarding somewhere.

A year, or more, of memories spent together in a small, though comfortable, apartment. Key wouldn't change anything about it, it was comfortable living together with Derick, and perhaps it was because it was winter but it felt warmer and more comfortable this time of year. Tonight wasn't any exception either, even though they were out side and it was chilly. It wasn't freezing tonight, like the last few nights, so it had been her idea to go for a walk around the area. She didn't want to stay home all winter long, much as she did dislike the cold, she wasn't one who liked staying indoors.
The answer for where to go had come to her rather easily, at least when she'd looked outside and seen the snow lightly coming down. She knew Derick disliked crowds and people, so anywhere around stores would not be a good idea - people and shopping and wandering about, even if places were closed. So she'd thought of just outside the city where the woods were. It was good in the summer time too, really nice scenery, but right now with the old church there and the snow coming down. She had, in secret, packed a camera with her to take pictures.
"We can go a bit closer." Reaching into her bag to withdraw the camera and show it to the other. "I thought we could get some pictures." Shrugging a bit she leaned over to press a kiss to his cheek. "Maybe a few pictures for around the house...or a single big one. The old church with the snow - it feels perfect in some way. Like a Hallmark card or one of those Kinkade paintings." Perhaps they could, next year, use a picture for Christmas cards and send them out to people? It was an idea and she was sure Derick could help make that happen, if he liked the idea.

Derrick raised an eyebrow at seeing her camera, but was a bit interested. He didn't do any photography so when he saw her doing it he often wondered how she decided to take pictures. Sometimes he would just watch her take them while looking at the scenery too. He couldn't help but blush when she kissed him. It was different at home. Out here outside people could see them do it, so it was a bit embarrassing, but not something he disliked and knew that he would have to get over it. He wanted to anyway. To feel comfortable with small displays of affection with Key outside, he wanted it too. He agreed with the pictures though. The walls felt a bit empty. If they could get a few nice ones outside, it would make it feel more cozy. It did give him the idea of maybe renting a cabin at some point... He nodded though, silently agreeing with her. "I think it's a good idea. We could figure out some frames and card prints from where I shop." He replied, giving her a grin. Of course they didn't have to go, but usually it was where he checked first for most small home-hobbies. "You have an idea on how you want to take these pictures?"

"I was thinking of that when I decided on post cards for next year - using your store. You can do the writing for them if you want? I thought it might be more personal that way." She offered with a smile. She had some ideas in mind when she brought her camera, she just knew she was aiming for a winter scene, without people, and some thing real rather than a drawing or graphic.
"I really wanna put the church in some...while not in others. I know some people may not like it, just because they aren't religious and might not like to see it. Others won't care either way. But I wanna get the snow and just the soft feel to it all...the magic of no people and just the winter all around." If that made an ounce of sense, which she hoped it did. She was aiming for something warming feeling and that would just be...breath taking as well.
"Pictures for the apartment...now that I think I'll wait to see all the pictures for. That we get to pick together."

He chuckled to himself silently. Perhaps he was influencing her too much on using his store? Still, he couldn't help but feel at home in it. And the owners had recently asked him if he had wanted to take over for them as they wanted to retire in a year or two. He still hadn't decided, but he wanted to get Key's opinion on it. It would be a big decision and he had no idea how to run a store, so it would be very stressful... something he didn't want to think about right now. "I think people will be able to tell if it's just a scenery photo. I mean, when I look at pictures of famous temples, I find the architecture to be quite intriguing or beautiful or whatever. I think people can appreciate the picture just for how it is rather than attaching any context to it. And if they did then too bad for them. They're the ones reading more into it." He often liked to look at other, more modern buildings and how people worked with them. Even though he was in an apartment, they were able to customize it to their liking, just not the entire building. He nodded. "It will be fun. I feel like every picture will be able to make the space more "ours" every time we pick one." The apartment was starting to feel more and more cozy. But the thought of having a house to themselves was something he thought about to. They could customize it any way they wanted, they could have a lawn to grow their own plants... but that was in the future. Just getting the apartment to be perfect was the focus for him. He took a few steps forward and looked at his watch. "It's almost midnight you know, better take that picture quickly." He said teasing her a bit.

"That's true, but you know some people will read into it." People always read into things, even innocent things, it just happened. It was how people were, as far as she figured it, not that she liked it. "But I was figuring with and without would also give us both options for the apartment and cards." So they could pick which pictures looked best for which uses.
"Mmmm, yeah. I mean the apartment really does feel a lot like it's ours already. It's cozy and comfortable." She liked that it felt a bit small at times, it meant it was safe and cozy - theirs. To her that meant safe. She didn't like the idea of big open spaces, big open rooms. She'd have to fill them so it felt more comfortable and warm. "I think it helped that it was yours already and I just moved it." It had already felt comfortable upon moving into Derrick's place.
Gently shoving him, whilst shaking her head, Key couldn't help smiling as she brought her camera up and after making sure it was perfect she went and hit the button on the top of her camera - to take the picture. The lighting was perfect and there was nothing obscuring her camera lens, like snow or streaks of water, but when she pulled the camera away from her face it seemed like everything had frozen in placer - in time. The snow wasn't falling but it was just hanging still in the air. The bells had been ringing as she'd taken the picture and now nothing was moving.
"Derrick?"

He nodded and couldn't help but chuckle as she shoved him. It was fun, talking to someone else like this. He couldn't do that with others. Well, he could do it if they were friends, but he didn't have too many of those and with how busy he was with both his civilian and powered life, it was a bit hard to stay connected to others who weren't powered. And even those who were! They really needed some sort of meetup group or something. He watched as she took her camera, but the moment that she did, everything just seemed to freeze. It took him a moment to notice though, and before he could say anything, but with a frown on his face, he heard Key's voice asking his name. He turned to her and said, "I'm still moving. I... don't know what's going on though, as soon as you took the picture it's like everything just... froze." He looked at her camera suspiciously. Was it cursed somehow? Were all cameras cursed now?!
