Galar's primary mine connects Turffield Town with Motostoke City. Most of the mining equipment is used to extract materials by the Macro Cosmos company to build sturdy buildings such as the stadiums used for gym battles and Rose Tower.

✧✧【Taking a deep breath, Eveline redirected her thoughts away from that particular train of thought in favor of focusing on the brick archway standing before them, similar to the one they’d seen on the outskirts of Motostoke City. This one was the Galar Mine, as it was listed on the flyer for the Wishing Star event, whereas the other one closer to the city was Galar Mine No. 2. Jaffa followed closely behind her as they stepped into the tunnel below the archway, the Altaria giving a disapproving warble at being in such restricting quarters as he. Thankfully the inside of the mine was well lit with numerous lamps lining the walls and what looked like multi-colored crystals embedded in the rock. The redhead caught movement out of the corner of her eye, looking over to see a rather fast moving black blur just before it disappeared around the corner up ahead. Carefully stepping around some of the mining equipment that was left lying about hapzardly, Eveline grabbed Gin’s Pokeball and sent out the Luxray to help look for the star.
As he padded on a bit of a ways ahead to scout around she carefully checked inside any open crates, buckets, and mine carts, leaving no stone unturned in her search. ”Hm?” she hesitated in the midst of looking through the payload of a cart when she felt sudden movement in her bag, immediately reminded of the egg she’d been carrying around for the past few months that was tucked away in there. Quickly setting the black bag on the ground and pulling the large dark blue egg out from its resting place, sure enough it was shuddering and shaking erratically, a definite sign it was about to hatch.】✧✧

✧✧【Acting fast, Eveline placed the egg on the ground and took a few precautionary steps back with Jaffa following suit, there was no telling how large or dangerous whatever Pokemon in that egg might be until it hatched. Especially one that came from a Void scientist’s lab… there was no telling what Doctor X might’ve done to it while it’d still been in his custody… Cracks appeared across the egg’s surface, gradually becoming large holes as the Pokemon inside seemed to be fighting to emerge. Then, with an explosion of eggshell it burst open like a miniature bomb, a Scyther now standing among the remnants that littered the ground. Its dark blue carapace gleamed under the dim yellow lighting the mine lamps provided, the same shade as the shell of the egg it had hatched from. Magenta colored wings unfurled from its back and slowly began to beat, carefully drying themselves off to better help it fly about. The Scyther slowly opened its sharp, dark eyes, blinking a few times to adjust to the faint light of its new surroundings before they locked firmly on the woman’s bright green gaze, tilting its head curiously as it sized up the human and Altaria standing before it. It seemed more confused and apprehensive than anything, though that was likely a given since it was just a newborn… Though to her relief it didn’t immediately raise its scythes to try and attack her, so that was a good sign. ✧✧【Taking a breath, Eveline brought herself to carefully move closer to the newly hatched Scyther, not wanting to potentially provoke it with any sudden motion. The mantis narrowed its gaze in return, though it seemed to be in a more ‘What are you doing’ kind of way as opposed to ‘That’s close enough’, and it still made no move to brandish its blade arms in any kind of aggressive or threatening manner. Holding a hand out towards Jaffa to signal him to stay back, Eveline smiled as she kneeled down a little so she was a bit more level with the Scyther even though she wasn’t that much taller than it. ”Hey there,” she greeted it in a soft voice, gently holding a hand out to pat its head, ”I’m Eveline, though you’re welcome to call me ‘mommy’ instead if you want.” The Scyther blinked a bit as he took in the name of this woman, who he could only assume was his new trainer or ‘mommy’ as she mentioned. The mantis’s eyes looked to the redhead’s face, then to her outstretched hand that was reaching out towards it. Giving a low buzzing sound the Scyther leaned forward to meet it, welcoming the gentle touch as she stroked its smooth blue carapace.
Seemed quite docile for something that came from a lab… so far at least… Still, it seemed to have accepted her easily enough as its new trainer, so that was something. Now that she was closer, she could see more clearly by the size of its abdomen that this particular Scyther was indeed a male. ”I think I’ll call you…” she murmured, pulling out a Pokeball and gently tapping it to the Scyther’s head to capture it without any resistance, ”Armagnac. A strong name well-suited for a strong Pokemon.” Quite pleased with the latest addition to her team, Eveline returned the newly named Armagnac to his ball to let him rest for now just as Gin came back from his own search with the Wishing Star clutched between his teeth. ”Very well done,” Eveline praised, the Luxray purring delightedly as she affectionately stroked his mane as a reward for his efforts. Tucking the star into her bag alongside the rest they’d collected so far, the redhead returned Gin to his Pokeball and led Jaffa the rest of the way out of the mine so they could move on to the next location.】✧✧

Hikaru looked from between Lucario and the picture, feeling like there was something she was missing. From his tone or his aura or... Oh. Hikaru felt her cheeks heating. Of course Lucario couldn't see the picture. She hadn't even thought about it.
It was also a rather stunning realization- all of a sudden, she really got what it would mean, to see everything solely through her aura sense. Things like the photo, or even the sky. No wonder Lucario had such a fine control of these things, if he was always focusing on them. Hikaru usually let those senses lay in the background.
She forced herself to push down her embarrassment. "I'm sorry. I had not realized things like this did not have an aura." At least, she'd never really thought about it. "It was taken while you were asking me what to do. It looks..." She searched for the right word. Endearing. "Well, I prefer the photos like this. This way, when I look, I will remember the moment, and that it was your first photo."

She'd made good progress with him recently, but he still got skittish right after being let out if there were too many people nearby. Even with the progress, though, Arezu didn't expect him to stretch languidly, blinking slowly and calmly.
"Kouvu?" she asked, surprised. The noivern turned its head, and went so far as to nudge Arezu with his nose. She'd watched those huge nostrils flare when he took a deep breath when he was released, and they flared again now. "You like this place, don't you?"
"Is this...where you're from?" Arezu wasn't sure where the thought came from, what made her think of it. She heard a low, quiet whine from him, and knew she'd been right. "Oh, Kouvu..." She reached out, stroking his long neck. She'd figured out by now that he'd been captured and trained as a weapon. When she'd caught him he'd been near-feral, and clearly abused.
"Let's get you in the air." Arezu pulled herself up into the saddle. For once, she found herself looking forward to the flight.

Arezu leaned over to tighten the straps on her legs so she was securely attached to the saddle. Even if she was oddly looking forward to the flight, she wasn't going to risk falling off.
Ai surprised her by leaping up to Kouvu's back, tucking herself into the hollow between Arezu's stomach and the front flare of the saddle. "You want to fly?" Arezu asked, though what she was actually surprised about was how Kouvu hadn't seemed to mind at all when Ai leaped out of his sight and into his blindspot- and on his back, no less.
"Yes." Ai's telepathic voice startled Arezu. The espeon didn't speak much, even after finally revealing that she could speak. "I believe you are right, about this place... I'd like to be with him, while he flies his skies again."
Arezu smiled and rested a hand on Ai's back. "Of course." She then directed Kouvu to walk a bit closer to Shiisa, Lucario, and Hikaru. "Alright, you ready to go?" she asked, raising her voice to be heard over the distance. "Follow Kouvu, okay?" she said, this time to Shiisa, who nodded.

✧✧【After spending so much time flying around all over the place, it felt almost strange to have to walk along the winding trail leading up to the mine itself. Eveline had missed all of this scenery the first time around since they’d just bypassed most of it, though just strolling along past the grass and sparse trees littering the rock hewn path at least gave her a bit more time to think and eat as she quickly devoured the bacon and egg breakfast sandwich and cinnamon roll she’d gotten from the café. Of course, Aura just had to taste a bit of the sweet treat before it was gone, though the woman didn’t mind tearing off a piece for the ever curious wolf to try. Ah, now that she was thinking of it… Eveline realized she’d completely neglected messaging the twins last night that she was back in Galar, though she supposed they’d already caught on after Jaffa had returned home. But it’d be a good idea to at least shoot them a message anyways, at least to apologize and let them know what she was planning next. Pulling out her Rotom phone, she quickly typed out a text to send to their group chat while nursing her own coffee in her other hand.

Feeling a bit more relieved after sending them off, she figured it might not hurt to take a peek at that letter from Rose as she tucked her phone away and pulled out the envelope from her coat. Even the packaging itself radiated elegance and formality, the envelope made of crisp, transparent vellum paper and even came with a wax seal on it bearing an insignia consisting of interlinking hexagonal shapes. Well, she supposed that shouldn’t come as a surprise considering it had supposedly come from the desk of Chairman Rose himself, but if she didn’t know any better she would’ve thought this was an invitation to a wedding of some sort. Carefully peeling the stamped wax and pulling it open, she could see a couple of papers tucked inside the envelope and didn’t hesitate to pull out the one in front and open it up to see the contents inside.

✧✧【All the while, Aura was more preoccupied with enjoying her own breakfast and surveying the scenery, watching the wild Pokemon they passed by along the way, Mudbray grazing in the grass, Growlithes barking and playfully roughhousing with each other, and the occasional Skwovet poking its head out of the few berry trees scattered about. Her eyes lit up upon spotting a building off in the distance that seemed to be sitting next to what looked like another tunnel leading into the mine, likely a foundry due to all of the smoke pouring out through the multiple chimneys it had. She wondered if maybe they’ll pass by it again later on, so they would be able to get a closer look at it since there didn’t seem to be any clear path to actually get to it from here.
As they finally reached the mine and entered into the dimly lit tunnels illuminated by the numerous wall lanterns placed around every couple feet or so, the Zacian’s eyes lit up as she saw the bright crystals of various colors sticking out of the rock that seemed to glow with their own light. Much like in the city, there seemed to be more of those odd flameless torches here too, there even seemed to be ones similar to those on the walls lying around on the ground that were unlit, as well as these odd crate-like objects that seemed to be on wheels. How interesting… And from the looks of it, people apparently used these wood and metal structures placed along the cavern floor to move the wheeled bins around from place to place, perhaps as a means of transporting material in and out of the mine? It was probably much more efficient than hauling ore and stone out by hand, probably a lot less hazardous too…
”So… What exactly is our plan for the day, Lucia?”she asked after polishing off the last bite of her second croissant sandwich, eyeing Eveline curiously as she took a long swig of her sweet tasting coffee before continuing,”I know you mentioned that we were going to this ‘Turffield’ place earlier, but I don’t believe you’ve mentioned what it was we were going there for?”It had certainly sounded important from how Eveline had seemed in quite the hurry to set out for this place in particular, perhaps it was their next designated stop on their journey for a reason? The Zacian was still trying to brush up on what exactly this whole adventure was all about, because surely Eveline had her own reasons for doing all of this too. Well, at least aside from letting her get a good feel for the lay of the land and maybe figure out what to do about her missing memories along the way, though she’d hardly complain if those actually were just the only goals they had in mind for their ventures and whatever shenanigans they got into.】✧✧

✧✧【Eveline almost jumped when the Zacian suddenly spoke up, her companion had been so quiet for most of the way that she’d nearly forgotten that she was there. ”Ah, well zee first gym we have to challenge for ze league iz actually in Turffield,” she explained, pulling out her phone and tapping at it to bring up the information on her party, ”We’re already strong enough to be able to take it on, zo we should be able to beat it easily and move on to zee next one in Hulbury from there.” With their luck, they might be able to blaze through at least the first three gyms over the course of the day. Of course, she’d definitely have to do some training in between to keep her team up to scratch. She considered letting out Gimlet or perhaps Tequila to get some in while they were traversing the mine, but judging from the types of wild Pokemon around here it didn’t look like either of them would really have much of a solid matchup against most encounters… Probably wouldn’t be worth it in that case, and she’d rather not risk having to run all the way to the nearest Pokecenter if someone did end up fainting.
”Gym?”Aura inquired, her eyebrows shooting up in clear confusion at the odd, foreign word,”What exactly is a gym?”From what little she could recall, the Zacian could say with absolute certainty that she had no idea of what that was. Though Eveline had mentioned it as something they’d have to ‘challenge’… so maybe it was something that involved combat? ”Gyms are basically places in most towns and cities around zee world where trainers go to sharpen their skills for battling and strengthen their Pokemon too, and usually zee main goal iz to challenge and successfully defeat zee strongest trainer there called a gym leader and obtain that gym’s badge,” the redhead explained, holding a hand up to her chin in thought, ”Gyms also tend to be themed around a particular type of Pokemon, like zee one in Turffield iz a Grass-type gym, for example.”
Aura’s eyes lit up with intrigue at that, so she actually hadn’t been too far off with her initial thought involving battling. These gyms did sound like intriguing places, though… A place where trainers could spar against each other for the sake of improving themselves and their Pokemon, ultimately leading up to fighting the leader, the supposed strongest of all of the trainers in there.”I see! The idea of these gyms… actually sounds a lot like the sort of combat practice I used to do when I was still a budding knight-in-training,”she exclaimed, her voice growing softer at the mention of her own training. Her blue eyes misted over a bit as bits and pieces of memories began to surface, brief flickers as she remembered her mentor’s stern voice chastising her at every turn when she’d first started to learn how to wield a sword and how clumsy her technique had been. A sword… That sounded incredibly familiar to her for some reason as she thought a bit more about it, but… why? Yet again nothing in particular came to mind no matter how hard she tried to focus on those words in hopes of being able to recall something of significance, much to her frustration. Huffing as she ran a hand through her short purple hair, Aura pushed away the annoyance at her lack of being able to recollect much of anything and focused on her trainer’s explanation.
”But you also mentioned that you get a ‘badge’ as a reward for besting these gym leaders, yes? Is that a token of sorts meant to reward you for your success?”she asked curiously. It seemed to make sense, being able to have a badge as a token of victory against a worthy opponent, surely being able to obtain such trophies was hardly an easy feat. ”Well, if you’re a trainer, you need to have a particular number of badges to qualify for challenging zee Pokemon League in ze region to battle zee best of ze best to become Champion, that and Pokemon will only obey their trainers up to a certain point if they don’t have any,” Eveline responded, furrowing her brow when she noticed just how much stronger the Zacian was compared to most of her other Pokemon, ”If you have only a certain amount of badges and you try to battle with a Pokemon far stronger than you can handle, it’s likely to not follow your orders and will refuse to attack the opponent. Supposedly how many badges a trainer has measures how much their Pokemon respect them, and Pokemon will usually disobey if they don’t respect their owner enough.”
An interesting system… But as far as Aura was concerned, she figured it made sense the more she listened to her trainer’s explanation. After all, a Pokemon wouldn’t willingly follow the commands of someone who they believed was beneath them, especially particularly strong Pokemon that not just any trainer could handle without the proper skills. She found the idea that the number of badges a trainer had was equivalent to how much their Pokemon respected them especially intriguing, based on that someone with a higher number of badges would reasonably be able to command much stronger Pokemon as opposed to one with only a few. So naturally the idea was to try to collect as many as they could in that case, right? Especially if they hoped to be able to challenge this 'league' where supposedly the best of the best resided, trainers who were likely far stronger than these 'gym leaders' and only those qualified enough to enter their realm could ever hope to fight them.”I think I understand, it certainly sounds like getting a lot of these ‘badges’ is a pretty important goal for a trainer to accomplish. Would you perhaps want me to partake in some battles against these gym leaders?”she asked, unable to help but feel a bit excited at the idea of fighting against a strong opponent. She couldn’t recall the last time she’d actually battled, much less let herself go all out against a worthy foe, but considering how long it’s probably been since then she could very well have to completely relearn the basics of how to even fight. In that case, maybe it’d be a better idea to warm up against other, not as strong opponents first, at least so she could get back into the swing of things and reteach herself the ropes of combat before really jumping into the thick of it.】✧✧
