Name: Kirilan
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Craft: Weavercraft - Tailor
Rank: Apprentice
Origin: Fort Weyr, formerly Keroon Hold
Appearance: Standing at 5'9'', Kirilan is a lean fellow. He isn't harshly skinny, but there's very little bulk to him. He's willowy and it is unlikely that this will change as he gets older. His pale blond hair is often allowed to grow out to just before shoulder length. When his working the young man will often pull it make into a short ponytail, just to keep the majority of it out of his face. He has a neatly kept fringe which usually gets swept to the side and pinned back if he's really focusing. Light blue eyes, and a rather delicate face make this young man more pretty than handsome. Kirilan doesn't seem to mind too much, he's had people call him girly in the past and he's over it at this point. If that's the best an adult can come up with, then they aren't really worth the time.
He likes practical clothes and will usually be found in close fitting trousers, sensible boots and a close shirt. He does like to wear a waistcoat (He thinks it makes him look dashing). Usually there are pins or needles through his cuff or collar where he was working and put them there and forgot about it.
Personality: Of all his studies, Kirilan likes tailoring the most. The young man prefers function over form, but believes in a healthy dose of both. People being comfortable and able to carry out their lives should be the most important aspect of clothing, they can flash it up later if that's what they want. In that regard he isn't particular interested in the more expensive fashions, they're so impractical. He likes helping people find clothes that suit them, even if it's not what he would choose. Things that fit right, or are comfortable, can make the world of difference in a person's attitude. Kirilan likes to see people flourish, and takes pride that he was able to make that happen.
A rather sociable young man, Kirilan is happy to chat with most anyone. If he's rebuffed he just shrugs it off and moves on. The world is full of so many people, he doesn't need everyone to like him. In that respect, Kirilan can sometimes give up too easily. He doesn't like conflict or struggling, so would rather just move on elsewhere if given the choice. Even if that means he doesn't get what he wants, he just accepts it and moves on. This leads to a certain level of detachment, where Kirilan won't get invested in things if he thinks there's a chance it might get pulled away from him. There's always a little bit of distance to protect himself from too much disappointment.
There's more than a few people that would call Kirilan boring. He isn't especially funny, and rarely comes up with exciting ideas. Going along with other people's activities is all well and good. He enjoys spending time with people, but he's rarely the ideas man. Kirilan is the kind of person who will genuinely start a conversation by talking about the weather. Despite not being shy, Kirilan needs someone else to take the lead in a social situation, unless they want to end up sitting somewhere in companionable silence for the next several hours.
Positive: Friendly, Practical, Supportive
Negatives: Accepting, Distant, Boring
History:
164/3/18 - Kirilan is born as the third child to a pair of kitchen workers in Keroon Hold. His childhood is a happy one and largely uneventful. No tragedies befall the youth and he spends many happy turns running around the Hold and the nearby territories with others his age.
175/-/-- - From a young age Kirilan had shown an interest in fabric. He enjoyed making crude toys and clothes for toys out of scrap pieces of fabric. His parents have many a misshapen wad of fabric that a young Kirilan insisted was a dragon, horse, person, or some other animal. This interest meant that when he came of age it seemed wise to gently guide him towards the Weavercraft. His parents were able to secure Kirilan an apprenticeship in the Hold under one of the many Journeyers. Kirilan took to it well. Learning how to make things look like they were actually supposed to.
177 - 183 - The dragon plague does not affect Kirilan personally. Still the teenager worries about the impact it will have in the future. Will there be enough dragons when threadfall returns? Keroon used to have so many dragon visitors, but as time passes they become rarer and rarer. Even though he didn't know any dragonriders personally, the now seemingly empty skies are enough to upset the young man.
183/-/-- - With several turns of Weavercraft under his belt, Kirilan is an experienced apprentice at this stage. Learning as much as an apprentice could under his current mentorship, it was decided that Kirilan should soon travel to the Weavercrafthall in Southern Boll to progress far enough to become a Journeyman. It wasn't long after the decision had been made that a brown dragon from Fort Weyr picked the young man out as being a worthy candidate. Despite the risk to his studies, Kirilan accepted. There were people who needed clothes tailoring in the Weyr, so if he didn't impress at least he wouldn't get rusty. Bonding to a dragon was worth the set-back of a few turns in his eyes. The plague seemed to have quietened in recent turns, none of the green born dragons seemed to be getting sick. It was a risk he was willing to take. Now he's new to the Weyr and trying to find where he fits in this new setup.
