That time of year again. Versailles thought to himself as he watched his breath in front of his mouth. It was late, a time when he really shouldn’t be out walking by himself. But he would be fine. Even if he was a simple Corrupt Senshi, he still had power over anyone else who may have wanted to hurt or kill him, who was a civilian at least. He knew he always took a risk running into any Order, not that any of them seemed to have the guts to kill any Agents. At least the ones he had run into. It made all of this slightly boring.

What was the point of fighting if no one really wanted to do what it took to beat the other side? To do what needed to be done? Sometimes the Order seemed to remind him of some child’s cartoon or anime where everyone forgave each other because of “friendship” and saying “sorry”. Was it wrong to teach kids how the real world worked? Sure, they were often dramatized but it seemed as though people were afraid to prepare children for the real world. And when they learned that the Power Rangers weren’t real or that you couldn’t copy Naruto or whatever, well, feeling lied to would just be a natural reaction right?

He heard jogging to his left and turned his head to the side. It seemed that there was a woman jogging late at night, a mistake in his mind, and he would have let her go if he hadn’t seen a man trying to run up to her.

The woman hadn’t even realized she had been followed. She was too caught up in listening to music as she ran. But Versailles had gotten his mark. He had taken the man down quite easily, draining him a bit to disorient him. “Now, what do we have here? Someone up to no good?” Versailles grinned as he felt around in the man’s pockets, the criminal only able to moan in protest.

Versailles found what he was looking for. Rope, a knife, and some other unmentionables. “Well, I think we both know why you were out right now.” Versailles mumbled as he grabbed the man by the throat and moved him against a tree and let go. “I can’t get rid of you that easily. It would mean that you could be reincarnated and well, I just don’t think you deserve that chance. After all, what would you become? Another assaulter? Someone who only preys on others? How useless.” He tsked and started to drain the man some more, keeping one of his hands on the man’s shoulder. “I suppose, if you haven’t been totally knocked-out, you can feel some of the fear that others have felt from you. Except you won’t get another chance.” The man was near-death now, having been drained almost to the point of death.

“I hope you enjoyed it.” Versailles whispered and using all the power that he had, plunged his hand into the man’s chest. It took a bit to find it, the starseed, and it was easily plucked out when Versailles finally found it. Instantly the man seemed to have had all life sucked out of him. Versailled stared at it a moment, before tucking it with all of the energy that he had also gathered. “Life is a gift. Why you insist on using it in such a way, you don’t deserve it.” He said, before walking off to find an Agent who could teleport him to the Negaverse.
