There was a certain kind of numbness within Landry. It seemed to start from his head, and work it's way down to the tips of his fingertips. Fingertips that missed the touch of another. Ones that could very much remember the lingering sensations of softness against them... And for a while, he longed for it.

But the man was never one to dwell on the past for long. Sadness was never productive, and far easier to bottle up and set on a shelf to gather dust, and in it's place came rage. Anger, betrayal, digging deeper and deeper until it felt like nothing less than an inferno set upon the one that caused him so much discomfort could soothe it.

Yet, he could not do so. For the first time, he couldn't simply ruin the life of the one who slighted him. How could he destroy someone who had no life?

Making every trace of him vanish was easy. Donations, the garbage, all physical things could be wiped away with enough money and time. But memories, those were far harder to simply dull out.

Landry craved a new feeling, something that could erase every memory of that man from him. Why? Because it made no sense whatsoever to simply keep lingering on the man as he did.

Though even now, another man's name lingered on his tongue.

One far more cherished, even now.

And perhaps it was time to call that man over. Somewhere once upon a time, he had heard that speaking of one's feelings would be enough to help ease the burden of them, but Landry always thought of such a concept as complete nonsense. Now, though, he was desperate to get every single last thought out of his mind, and lose himself in the comfort of the person who he knew (even though he would doubt it out loud time and time again), could focus on him.

So... He sent a text, short and curt. He never was one for flourishes anyway.

Come over at 7PM sharp. Bring over food, anything is fine, and plan on staying over. Don't disappoint me, Gryphon.

Things had been... kind of weird with Landry, hadn't they? Well, they were always kind of weird from Gryphon's perspective, since he didn't have many encounters with Landry's type of person to really compare it to. He was... kinda grouchy, kinda sweet. Kinda snooty, kinda charitable. Kinda picky, kinda indifferent. Kinda distant, kinda feely. It was like dealing with a blond, slender Sour Patch Kid.

Sour Patch Man, Gryphon supposed. Landry definitely wasn't a kid.

That somehow didn't keep Gryphon from feeling his age whenever he hung around the other man, though. And they had managed to hang out some after the awkward incident with the 'attacking plants' and the BDSM kid Lan had had in his apartment that day. They'd found time to lounge together on the big couch in Lan's condo and go cruisin' in Gryph's truck, and of course Gryph didn't bother trying not to text Lan if he felt he had a thought or funny picture worth sharing.

But of all the things Landry was 'kinda,' one thing he was definitely was innocent. And Gryphon just wasn't sure if it was intentional or if he really just didn't get the same feelings while they were cuddled on the couch.

Well, maybe he didn't. Not with Gryphon, anyway.

But to Gryph when people were kinda cute, and kinda leaning on him, and kinda whispering weirdly soft things to him while they were being cute and leaning on him, and maybe there were kisses, he did expect some variety of uh- physical acknowledgement. He tried not to dwell on too much, but it was hard not to when Landry was so sleek and so pretty and smelled like apples and cinnamon after baking treats all day...

But he tried not think about it.

He sat on his couch with guitar in his grasp and his phone playing a tutorial on youtube of an instrumental solo. It was propped up against the couch's arm, but Gryphon's attention wandered, and he strummed lightly and thoughtlessly at his guitar until the tell-tale chime of a text caught his attention. He spared a peek at the message, then a quick glance up to the time. Only about an hour before seven, though that wasn't a surprise.

His Lan did have a way of wanting things pretty much right as soon as he could even think to want them.

Gryphon let out a low, rumble of a chuckle as he typed back, 'Want Chinese?'

That's fine. Just sooner rather than later, and if it's later, don't bother coming.

... Why was it so difficult to simply send a message with a single confirmation, rather than lacing a non-developed insult behind it? It was too late to simply take the response back, after all, and certainly Gryphon was used to his ways so....

Yes, it was fine. Without an issue at all.

What was currently an issue was the state of the house. Everything seemed so empty somehow. Even seeing Lori seemed harder these days. So he took the time between now and Gryphon's arrival to tidy up. And by tidy up, he meant gathering more pillows for the couch, pushing a coffee table closer, making sure he knew where the remote was and that drinks were ready, including a nicely chilled bottle of wine.

For some reason, he had an inkling that he would be needing a few drinks to at least soothe his nerves a little. Not enough to tamper his judgement, but enough to atleast make him honest.

... Honest enough for the full truth, and honest enough to accept whatever came from it.

With everything in place, Landry reclined onto the couch, surrounded by his mound of comfortable pillow and a small glass of wine in hand.

... Yes, he'd be able to do this, for sure.

'Sooner rather than later.' So, yeah, it was as he'd expected: now-now. Gryphon rolled his eyes at the message but couldn't resist a wayward smile at Landry's snarky attitude even through text. It almost seemed like the extra sass shouldn't be worth the effort it took to convey, but then it wouldn't sound like Blondie, would it?

Fortunately, it didn't take him long to get ready from his relative state of undress. Gryphon threw on a faded AC/DC shirt and a pair of scuffed up jeans. The temperature had dropped and didn't much lend itself to his preferred cargo shorts. But this was fine just the same. If Landry felt the need to comment on it, maybe that'd inspire him to give Gryph a little more time if he wanted something presentable- Or at least not threaten him about lateness. He snatched the keys to his truck off the kitchen counter and bunned up his curly mess of hair on the way out the door.

His favorite Chinese place was a handful of blocks from his house, probably nowhere that Landry had had before, given the location. But it suited Gryph's tastes and filled Landry's command of 'sooner rather than later.' Still, the whole expedition of getting to the place and ordering food and waiting on food and getting across town to Landry's condos did run about forty-five minutes.

Cutting it real close for His Majesty's tastes, Gryphon was sure.

But he'd been sure to send a warning text while standing at the Chinese place's counter that things were 'going a bit slow, but he was on his way.' And it was still before seven. Landry hardly had room to complain. Gryphon knocked loudly, the sound thundering through the empty hallway. He squinted down at the doors to the other units and couldn't help but crinkle his nose at how odd it seemed. They weren't that different than apartments, really, but...

By the time Gryphon arrived, Landry had downed a glass and a half of wine. His body felt warm, almost hot now, and his belly growled at him, displeased that he drank without eating a thing.

Of course, a few glasses weren’t going to knock him over, and just as normally as he would any other time, he went and opened the door. Though... Perhaps he smiled a little wider than what was typical for him.

“I was about to start thinking you weren’t going to make it in time. I’m rather pleased that you’re here.” Nothing wrong ever came from a little kindness, did there? And... Perhaps nothing could go wrong with him taking Gryphon’s hand and gently pulling him inside, before closing the door behind him.

Tonight wasn’t about fighting, after all, it was supposed to be a good night.

“You certainly aren’t one to let me down, are you? That being said, what did you bring to eat?”

"Ey, I told you I'd be here," Gryphon replied with a shrug as he moved to nudge past Landry standing in the entryway. His hoity-toity Majesty, Prince Landry. Couldn't ever just smile and say, 'Thanks for bringing dinner. I'm glad you're here.' Always with the sass and almost passive aggressive remarks.

Gryph took one step forward, and barely had time to react more than that as Landry's hand slipped into his, and the younger man was encouraging him in. A flutter of confusion caused Gryphon to hesitate for just a heartbeat, but as he'd already been moving, it didn't take much effort to just continue on with the pull. And then, "I'm rather pleased you're here." as the door was shut behind him. Gryphon squinted and tossed a wary look over his shoulder at the door before back to Lan.

"Hullo? Wassa matter with you?" He asked suspiciously, as he set his sack of food on the floor and reached to pull Landry nearer to him for inspection.

His face was flushed. Not bright red, but just a gentle tint of pink on his cheeks. And his skin was warm. And Gryphon could smell a distinct mix of sweet and bitter on his lips. He blinked down at Landry as he held the younger man still in front of him. "You had something to drink tonight?" He asked, raising a brow in surprise.

”... Is that bad?” Landry didn’t mind being man-handled like this, moved around and touched to make sure he was alright. It was Gryphon after all. And he rather liked the man... Plus, his hands felt cool against his flushed skin.

But he did frown when he finally noticed the food on the floor.

“I had a glass and a half, I’m fine, I promise you. I’m not that much of a light weight. But why would you put the food there when the counter’s right here? I suppose you couldn’t wait to hug me then? ... Well, I’m waiting for it. And possibly a proper greeting, if you’re so inclined to. A kiss, perhaps? I think I’d very much like that.”

"Well. No?" Gryphon didn't sound very sure of himself as he squinted sunny orange eyes down at the younger man in his arms. "Just wasn't expecting it from you, is all. I'm not sure I've ever seen you drink?" His gaze flicked from Landry and over to the kitchen, as if he thought he might have missed seeing bottles of wine on the counter or a bar or wine rack somewhere among the cabinets, but he looked only for as long as it took his gaze to land on the sink, before it flit back to Landry's face. "I didn't know you did."

But it seemed like regardless of if alcohol was involved or how much, Princess Landry was as dramatic as ever.

Gryphon's lips quirked up at the complain regarding where he'd placed the food, and he gave a lopsided shrug. "You caught me off guard and distracted me from making it to the counter," he rumbled, a hint of amusement creeping into his tone to wash away the confusion from a moment prior.

He cradled a palm at Landry's neck and leaned down to lay a soft kiss against his lips. "Good evenin', Princess," he greeted on a low chuckle.

"Hmm.. No, I don't think you have. And I don't often do it. Or atleast, I don't go out like Lori does. I enjoy a bit of wine, here and there. It helps me relax." He said with a shrug, his eyes looking over at the sweet wine on the counter.

"Mm.." Yes, this was what he wanted. This kiss, where his arms came up to wrap around Gryphon's shoulder, pulling him down a little further and deepening the kiss on his own.

"Hehe... Good evening to you too. I'm starving, but this..." He paused, giving Gryphon's lower lip a little tug with his teeth before kissing him once again. "Is tasty too. I think I'd like it if we kept going for a bit."
