Dria was handing out candy to all the little trick-or-treaters. She liked this part of the holiday. It felt good to embrace the Halloween Spirit of Goodness and help the younger kids have fun. Still it would be prudent to be on her guard. It was Halloween after all during a Space War. The war was bad enough, but Halloween turned everything on it’s head. For both good and evil.
Something brown and spotted shot by Dria, out the front door. Somehow she knew that it was Dani, her 11 year old sister. Drew, Dria and Dani had discussed their costumes long in the night, for many nights this month. Dani had finally come to the conclusion that she was going to be a Cheetah for Halloween, no matter that most people that only children much younger than herself would dress as animals. It was a part of who she was she said, as much as Hieroglyphics were apart of Drew, and the Blue Lotus was apart of Dria. And that was that. To show their support for Dani’s decision, Drew went as a Hieroglyphic, the feather or quill symbol for ‘e’ and Dria decided to go as a Blue Lotus. All homemade costumes. Aunt Dia’s comment was that it was a most unique Halloween. Dad’s comment was that it was a most unusual Halloween. Mom’s comment was that it was just plain weird.
Drew came out behind Dani the cheetah, in his gold and black hieroglyphic costume, he was taking her out trick-or-treating. They turned to look at her in her gold and blue lotus costume. “Will you be alright?” She nodded. “I’ll be fine.” She answered. They disappeared into the night. Mom and Dad and Aunt Dia had gone to the company party, so it was just Dria, and she was back to handing out candy. Suddenly, she felt a small bucket pushed gently into her foot. She looked down and there were two or three order guardian cats in their various costumes with their glowing stars upon their heads nosing buckets for candy gently into her leg. They obviously could not speak at this time, because Humans were around, but they seemed to want to get into the Halloween Spirit. She grinned and knelt tossing a good amount of candy into each of their small buckets. She watched them disappear into the night, and soon forgot about them, as she continued to filled trick or treaters’ baskets. She and her family finally threw themselves into bed long after midnight, exhausted. The next morning, she found to her surprise, on her bedside table, a tiny trickortreator basket belonging to one of the cats. There was a note written in elegant script that read,

“For the Blue Lotus Senshi that made our first Halloween on Earth so fun, please take this small Moon Hologram in our gratitude.”

There were instructions included. Dria stared at it for a moment, then realized that this could be a real boon for Drew/Etamin’s papers. Taking it in her hand, she ran to her twin’s room. Without a word she handed to him just as he pulled on his shirt. He read the note and smiled. He set it down and then rummaged through his closet. He soon pulled out armload size chest that had a mermaid on it.
“This is a memory chest, I found on Etamin a while back. It has never felt the right time to open it. But now I feel it belongs to you.”
