Halloween had drawn to a close and with it, Adorea had found a measure of respite. Time tended to heal most of her wounds both physical and emotional, allowing her the opportunity to look back and reflect more clearly. In the end she hadn't become an avid dog hater, choosing instead to regard them with a healthy dose of caution and respect... But she'd still be left a touch out of sorts.
Something still wasn't quite right with her, she couldn't put her finger on it, but something had changed.
Nevertheless she wasn't one to dwell too much on the past (it only let to a more grim disposition and considerable overthinking); instead she had opted to explore. If there was one thing she could do nowadays with significantly more freedom, it was reach higher places and squirrel her way through gaps that would have ordinarily been problematic. Once a 'former' hobby, urban exploration had come rushing back - it wasn't just a good way to kill time, it also ensured she was patroling properly.
...Sure Youma hunted for people but they did have nests hidden away.
Where better than somewhere isolated like this?
She'd already kicked threw the fragile and weathered glass of the window, slipping through the roof top window frame and dropping down delicately onto the just about stable floor below. It had once been new, hell it hadeven been used, but the manufacturing quarter had never been exceptionally strong and the plant had suffered. As she rested on the balcony of the otherwise precarious upper level, she admired what lay below
Dust ridden, decrepit and probably barely functional - those were the words she would have used to describe the oddly shaped machinary that had been left to rot. She suspected that the aim had been to sell the factory on but with no buyer forthcoming it had simply fallen into disrepair. Ah, but one man's waste was another's treasure, when it came to Urbex there were normally hidden gems lurking about.
She didn't move immediately of course, preferring instead to survey the area for any immediate risks before she'd make her way down. Besides, from this vantage point she could see most things properly too and maybe a glint of light would give something interesting away...

While Chip was somewhat less prone to randomly wandering around and staring at things these days, (he had lots to do!) sometimes it was nice to go out and do just that. Maybe inspiration would strike for something new! Or maybe he'd find something cool he could use. Maybe just spot something cool to see. Or find some one useful to acquire... So, with that in mind, he'd found his way to an old factory. The sort of thing suggested by an Order senshi. And she'd been right. There were all kinds of interesting things around. Not too much of it useful, though... He was pawing at a broken conveyor belt, considering exactly how the materials meshed together when he noticed an aura nearby...above him! He looked up in the direction. His own aura was suppressed, as it typically was in these sorts of situations, but looking up like that would almost certainly cause a glint off the little kitty goggles he kept on his hat. And, he was pretty sure, he saw the form of that very same senshi who'd suggested this! So he wasn't at all worried about being spotted... Though he supposed at this distance, his tiny form was just a little glimmer of movement. She'd probably notice eventually.

With no gleams of hidden treasure forthcoming the senshi had all but given up hope of something giving away its secrets without a little urging. However, no sooner had she prepped herself to plunge from the balcony than something caught her eye. Flicking her gaze off to the side she took note of something that had gleamed, and it was from her now precarious position that she craned her neck ever so slightly for a better view.
Ah, but wasn't that someone she knew?
Her brow lifted and she quickly slipped her visor back down over her eyes as she dropped down from her vantage point and landed with surprising grace on the ground beneath. The floor held but that didn't prevent a puff of dust from enveloping the senshi and it took considerable restraint for her to walk through it without coughing. Had this been an action shot she would have been impressed with herself but for now she was more interested in keeping an eye out for uninvited guests.
"I see you decided to take a look," she smiled once it seemed apparent that the Mauvian's hitman wasn't in his present company. "Find anything good yet or do we need to get down and dirty?" she asked and motioned towards the dilapidated machinery. "I had figured they were hiding the neat stuff elsewhere and I'd need to do some digging but I don't know, maybe this stuff is good for you."
She paused briefly.
"Not with your buddy today?"

"Nothing too cool yet," Chip replied easily, as if he wasn't at all surprised to encounter a senshi. He was maybe a little surprised, but wasn't gonna admit it. He knew she was approaching, anyway, so had time to be cool. "Some nice gears, though." He nodded. The little cat stopped at sat down to peer up at Dory. "My buddy?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. "Oh, lieutenant Tetra!" he said a moment later, remembering their last encounter. "Nope! Don't need someone to carry me around today! Easier to explore without a big guy not interested in technology grumping around." He nodded again, mouth open happily.

"Not interesting?" Adorea gave a snort of distaste.
She knelt down to collect one of the cogs and gave it a twirl between her fingertips. It wasn't quite as weathered as she had thought it would be and sure enough, was probably recoverable if placed in the appropriate gizmo. She wasn't the most creative of times in regards to mechanical engineering, but someone who was could probably make use of the materials.
"So he's only interested in shooting his little toy gun thing?" she pursed her lips. To this day she wasn't entirely sure if it was real, Tetra had seemed to prefer a more direct approach and he'd left her smarting a fair bit, even if she hadn't been left completely floored like she might have been in the past.
"Seems kind of lame," she added and set the cog down on the machine beside her.
"Beating random folks up without warning is hardly sporting," she continued and motioned further into the building, away from what seemed to be the main manufacturing store.
"You know there's probably something more useful in the storage rooms." She paused and glanced back towards Chip, the ever jovial feline with a contagious level of enthusiasm. "Maybe some tools as well as more of these cogs," she pursed her lips. "They tend to be hidden in sub levels as opposed to right up here, maybe there's some sort of elevator we can find."
Another pause.
"Or if it's not working I can always jump down and catch you."

"I think he hates his little toy gun," Chip replied thoughtfully. "But that's what they give all the Lieutenants. Cute little toys. Make 'em seem less threatening, maybe." He didn't seem to want to talk much about that guy, though, as he almost immediately moved on to enthusing about pieces. "The gears and equipment laying around is simple, but nice material! I could probably do some cool stuff with it..." "Underground store rooms?" he asked. "Oh, sounds exciting! Let's go see!" He scampered away from the bits he was inspecting--boring, anyway, and started peering around (and sniffing a bit here and there) for a way down. Surely there was one somewhere!

"Or maybe some weird test," She shrugged. Maybe the toys were the Negaverse's version of the Senshi being somewhat questionable in skill when first awakened. In the grand scheme of things she would probably stick to picking up bricks rather than trying to fire a toy at someone, at least if she aimed it right she could do some proper damage with it that way!
"Personally I'd throw it," she marched after the Mauvian and smirked. The bullet might not be terribly dangerous but the gun was bound to have a little weight to it. Ah, but perhaps she had simply developed 'throw things' as her default battle style.
"Let's see here..." she popped her lips and glanced from left to right.
There were no immediate signs of a store room here but maybe if she knocked down the doors she'd find something. With that in mind she was soon making her way back towards one of the levels that seemed to be offices. At one point it had been lined with glass but now only a few panes remained, the rest weakened from lack of upkeep.
With finesse lacking (as usual) she could be heard clattering around for a time before a 'whoop!' could be heard. It might not have been an elevator, but she seemed to have found some stairs!

"I'd build a laser gun out of it, personally," Chip said lightly. "But it seems I can't do stuff like that with officers' weapons." There was a touch of disappointment to that admission. There was a lot of dirt and grime around, but not a whole lot of actually useful stuff. Still, Chip could see from the shape of the building the idea of how equipment flowed through the place, and that in itself was pretty captivating...so he hadn't found any useful way down (too busy swinging his head around and imagining what sorts of things he could build with such a space in his control). He heard the clattering, then a probably-happy whoop, which caused him to snap out of his little reverie (he may have even been humming a tune as he did that, but he hadn't noticed) and scampered on over. "Find something cool?" he asked. "Oh, stairs! Useful~ I wonder what secrets are hidden below?" Epine de Rose Well. I dropped the ball on replying there. Oops.

"Wait, why can't you build lasers into their guns?" she asked, popping her head round the corner as the Mauvian approached. She hadn't even paused to consider why someone might have a toy gun instead of a real one. To be honest it was just as well it was a fake weapon given that she hadn't exactly handled it well to begin with. Suffice to say that er life would have come to a very quick end if that weapon had been real.
Nevertheless given how creative Mauvians were supposed to be, she found it surprising that even they had limitations.
Maybe it was Chaos's trippy way of hazing its own recruits, a way to weed out the weak. If they couldn't fight with their own fists then they weren't deserving of something better. Was that how it worked? Pretty lame if there were those out there like her that weren't exactly 'good' at the whole hand-to-hand thing.
She didn't muse for too long though, if there was an answer then he might give it to her. Instead, she thrust her boot against the door and knocked it open. With the hinges otherwise weathered and the lock not entirely fastened it didn't take much force, but what it did achieve was a mushroom cloud of dust in the face of both parties.
Coughing followed and then things did finally settle, revealing something she really didn't expect to find abandoned in the middle of the city.
"Are those real?" she murmured as she peered as the carefully crated sticks of dynamite.
"...And do they have an expiry date?" she added, arguably asking two fairly valid questions at this particular moment in time.
There was no way this would have been forgotten about, not something this dangerous, had someone stored it down here for future use after the place had been left deserted?

“Well,” Chip replied lightly, nosing at a little box, which immediately collapsed into dust...making him sneeze once. “Their little toys are their, er, magic key, I guess you can say. If they lose it, it reappears. And if I change it...the changes fall out.” He shook his head. “Disappointing, but, what can ya do? I’m sure it’ll be more useful as he gets stronger.” He followed the senshi through the smashed door, and then slipped between her legs to look at the crates, then sniff. “Oh, I think they are real!” He declared with a touch of anticipation in his tone. “Best way to find out of they expire is to use one!” He giggled gleefully at the prospect, and padded his way around to see if he could get a hold of one that wasn’t completely ruined by the environment yet.

"Oh, well... So it's like a wand?" she asked. She wrinkled her nose at this, trying to imagine the rather extravagant transformations that some of her own order were inclined to make when activating their's. Somehow the flourishes didn't fit the vibe for the Negaverse, but then again, who was she to judge? If they wanted to click their heels and send flower petals of light into the air then they could do as they pleased!
"Remind me to keep an eye out for when it does become more useful then," she added drily. It would just be her luck that in the heat of the moment that 'toy' would become something significantly more dangerous. She might be on the brash side but even she could be mindful of the potential dangers that might exist in the face of adversary and that would probably be one of them.
Rather than disturb Chip though, she chose to rest against the door frame and watch as he searched the mounds for anything of use. She didn't know what real and usable dynamite looked like. To her, everything looked the same even if some of it did look a little damp, she could only assume that the damp boxes were the ones that were write offs.
"Let me guess, you carry a lighter in your hat as well?" she teased.
It hadn't yet crossed her mind that they could potentially blow up the entire warehouse but no doubt both of them would cross that bridge when they came to it.

“Yeah!” Chip replied, pawing through the dynamite carefully. “Just like a senshi henshin pen, but, you know,” He rocked his head from side to side, and gently bit a stick to pick it up. “‘;Igger an’ gunnier!” He plunked it down in front of her before saying, “Doesn’t everybody carry ways to start fires? Fires are so fun to watch, after all...Not quite as fun as well done machinery whirling around, but pretty close!” “We should take this back outside and make it go boom!”

"I can't say I ever saw the need..." Adorea confessed, perhaps giving hints of a more sheltered life. Was having a way to set fires going to become a staple of her senshi life or would it be safe to ignore moving forward? Not that blowing up dynamite wasn't entertaining but that was a fairly niche scenario for her to be part of - maybe she should have it ready for a hostage situation where they needed to blow up a door?
Who knew.
Nevertheless, it seemed that at least one of them was thinking logically and when he made the suggestion to take the explosive material outside and away from the rest of said explosives, Adorea had to afford a quick glance around before appreciating the significance of the suggestion. However, upon further reflection -
"Can we empty those and spell our names with the powder or does it only work in the tube?" she pondered.

"Should start doing that!" Chip chirped, "I always keep some tools with me, and a clicky lighter thingy!" While a bit of a mad scientist, Chip at least generally knew how to not kill himself with it...which was probably for the best. "Spell our names in powder?" he echoed, tilting his head to the side. His hat slipped a little, and he turned his head back upright. "OH! Like pour it out and paint it!" He considered a moment, eyes turned up and away. "Uhh....Yeah, I think that'll work! Grab a few of 'em, then! That sounds fun!" He nodded quickly, and then jerked his head toward the pile of dynamite in a 'go fetch' sort of gesture.

Well that was fair she supposed...Chip couldn't exactly carry more than one stick at a time and given her arms could carry considerably more it made sense to be the errand boy. It was with a sigh that she shuffled back down the stairs towards the hidden trove of explosives and within five or so minutes she had returned with what looked like the driest set of sticks she could find.
"This is for drawing," she explained as she set them down, before promptly disappearing back down the stairs. There was method to her madness, she knew better than to simply be artistic with these things, especially when both of them had both gone 'ooooh' at the possibility of a boom.
Thus, within another five minutes she had returned with another set of the explosives and carefully set them down a distance away. She reckoned that was plenty of distance but if Chip suspected it might be a little too close then she could always move them again.
"And let's be real, those are for the actual boom," she finished with a smirk.
