Plot Just outside town, a light flared suddenly in the falling dusk, growing to a vaguely rectangular shape. Two forms half-fell through the gate and one moved, crawling away from it and dragging the other ... and then the gate closed, light fading away again.

Farlest Farlest moaned faintly as the other dragged him through. "Dammit...why does this happen every single time?" He had an -arrow- embedded in his thigh for crying out loud! Now to mention the idiot who had tried to do all but impale him with that spear. He was conscious, quite thoroughly so, something he dearly wished he wasn't, as it made for nothing but agony at this particular moment in time. Nashorme "Don't ask me," he replied, having fallen over once they were clear of the gate and intending to stay that way for a few minutes. He was a little better off than the elf, though one of those same arrows had gone through a wing and there were small cuts and gashes here and there. Farlest "And let me guess...you don't have a clue where we are." It wasn't really a statement. Neither of them really had any interdemensional grasp on direction whatsoever. Well, at least there weren't any monsters or other such hostile characters within sight. Nashorme "Per usual," he agreed, shifting to sit up a bit. He knew the other was hurt, he just wasn't sure how badly. But well. At least he was awake and talking ... that was a good sign. Farlest He tried to do the same and fell back with a wince. "Ick." Oh this was just lovely. Their luck never seemed to change, no sirreee... Nashorme He blinked slightly at that, and moved closer, sliding an arm around and under the other to help. "Just how bad is it? And don't lie." The last bit was a tired attempt at teasing. Farlest He stuck his tongue out at him. "Spear wound's pretty nasty...and I think that there's uh...still an arrowhead in my thigh. So...that's going to have to come out." It was easy to tell he wasn't looking forward to it. Nashorme He nodded slightly, being careful not to let any of his own pain leak through their bond ... since he well knew what would happen if he did. "Which first?" Farlest He cast a baleful glance at his leg. "Erm...the arrowhead I'd imagine...there's nothing stuck in my side." Nashorme "Right ..." He nodded and lowered the elf down again, then scooted to where he could get to that arrow. He tilted his head, frowning slightly. He couldn't remember at the moment if said arrows had barbed points or not. Farlest "Don't be too careful, you're going to have to dig the accursed thing out..." It did indeed have some wicked barbs, as he remembered. He was already bracing himself, as he knew it was going to hurt like hell. Nashorme "Or push it the rest of the way through," he replied, quietly. He would leave that up to Falest ... as either way would be painful and cause more damage. He had yet to touch the thing, also having to somewhat brace himself. Farlest He put his hand on his own leg, as if gauging something. "Nnn. You'd better push it through. I think there'd only be more damage if you tried to pull it out." He sounded almost detached...he didn't really want to think about what he was saying. Nashorme "All right ..." Then, without asking if Far was ready and without any real warning, he did so, as quickly as possible. Faster was usually better. Once it was through, he snapped off the head and pulled the thing out, tossing it away. Farlest He yelped, "Oh HELL!" He nearly bit his tongue, utterly taken by surprise. "D-damn...well...least it's out...and I didn't faint on ya. Sheeeeeeeeee..." He flopped back on the sand. "Ouch..." Nashorme "Sorry sorry," he mumbled, trembling just slightly. No matter how many times one or the other got hurt and they had to patch each other up ... ugh. It was still not any fun to do something like that. Farlest "Eh, don't apologize...I can tell what you're thinking..." He waved a hand at him. "I know you've got injuries of your own so you don't have time to feel sorry for me, hear?" Nashorme "Do too," he argued, though he wasn't really serious. "Now ..." Bah ... no real bandages ... well, then clothing it was. Hm ... it was fairly warm here, so he tore a sleeve from his shirt and made it into strips, tying a few around that leg. Farlest He whimpered softly, "Yeesh...next time let's see if we can avoid that kind of grief...I think I hate arrow wounds the most." He shifted slightly and then grimaced, a spike of pain stabbing him in the side...bad idea. Nashorme "I fully agree," he muttered, and eyed the other, wondering if he'd have to cut Far's shirt off to get to the spear wound. Hm ... well, he could try to take it off first. He moved and started to unfasten the front, carefully. Farlest He made a pathetic, choked sound as the fabric brushed his wound. "D-don't bother...that rather smarts..." He smiled weakly, that was putting it mildly, actually. Nashorme "Sorry ... trying to save the shirt," he said, dropping what he was doing immediately. He produced a small knife and started cutting the cloth away instead, easing the edges away from said wound. Farlest He bit his lip, eyes lidding. "The shirt's already had it, I'm afraid..." He muttered. He tensed every time Nash got too close to that injury. Nashorme "Looks like it," he replied, still carefully picking the last of the cloth away. "I think that's all of it ... " He sighed slightly. This was going to take more than a sleeve's worth of bandages. Well, off with the cloak, then. He used that same knife to cut some strips of cloth, winding them around the elf's torso. Blood was still soaking through, but hopefully it would help. Farlest He bore the whole thing rather stoically, hands balling into fists. It hurt. He sighed shakily, eyes flickering up to Nash. "Don't forget to take care of yourself, too...or I'll smack you for it later..." Nashorme "I know you will ..." he replied, leaning down to kiss the other lightly. "The worst of it is our new friend the arrow," he half-growled, wincing slightly as he moved his wing to start on that. Farlest "It went all the way through, right?" He crooked a finger at him. "Let me see. I can reach it better than you can at any rate." Nashorme "Yea ... here," he said, turning and leaning back a bit. He didn't have to tell Far to be careful ... he knew that was a given. Farlest And he was careful, fingers that were skilled in both causing and healing damage, were gentle when touching the other. "Nnn. That's nasty. But those wings are rather large targets, you have to admit." And as an empathic healer, the dark-haired assassin let his power flow. He knew the wing would heal slowly otherwise, and for some reason this didn't drain him the same way a body wound did. "Don't worry, just this one, I promise." He cut off the protest he knew was coming off at the pass. Nashorme "Mm ... I'll worry if I want to." But he didn't really argue, eyes lidding as he felt that power heal the damage. "Thanks ... not that I plan on flying anywhere for a while." To tell the truth, all he really wanted to do at the moment was go to sleep and not have to wake up for quite some time. Farlest "Flying I wasn't worried about and you know it..." As if reading Nash's mind, and perhaps to some extent he was, the elf yawned. "Running battles officially wear me out..." Nashorme " 'm not surprised ..." He sat up a bit taller and looked around. "I don't think anyone or anything is around here ... wanna take a nap?" He looked down, smiling slightly. Farlest He nodded hurriedly, "Yes please...that sounds absolutely lovely..." Actually, he probably wouldn't have cared if there -was- a bit of impending danger, he was just that fatigued. Nashorme "Mm ... " He moved again, closer, and lay down, curling around the other and flipping his unhurt wing up and over to cover them both. "Sleep then ... love you." Farlest He smiled drowsily, settling down onto the ground against Nash's body. "Mmm. Love you too." The other's warmth was an immense comfort to his aching body. It was a reassurance as well...no matter how strange this place might turn out to be...he had Nash.

In the morning, he was sore, but the pain had definitely dulled. Shifting so that Nashorme's warmth was no longer at his back he sat up, stretching his arms with a telltale yawn.
His dark green eyes were now conveying mischief and excitement more than anything else, "Hey..." He poked the other a couple of times. "Sleepyhead! C'mon! Let's get up! We have to find out where the heck we are...remember?"

He mumbled something unintelligible and rolled over, blinking as his ears perked toward Farlest. "You seem to be feeling better," he said, also sitting up, and eyeing the elf. "Though I think we both still look ... quite a sight." As for himself, there were still bloodstains from where he had carried the other and from his own minor wounds. Not to mention the dirt and mud from the night before ... oi.

"So?" He grinned at him, wincing a bit as he moved into a crouch. "It's a wonder what a sound sleep will do for a body." He cast an eye around them, "Hmmm...well, I can honestly say I've never been here before, meleth."
He pushed himself to his feet with a groan, "Ugh...ok, everything still hurts."

"Mmhmm. I'm not surprised," he replied, also getting to his feet and looking around a bit. There was a town not too far off, he could see the tops of some buildings just over a hill. "I don't recognize anything either ..."

"Huh..." He shaded his eyes with one long-fingered hand, "Well...since that's the only apparent landmark...let us see what there is to see, shall we?"

"Sounds like a plan to me," he replied, starting to head up that hill. He paused after a moment, looking back with a grin. "Need help?" he asked, teasingly. Though he was still a bit worried about the other, there didn't seem to be anything really dangerous around here.

In a moment of immaturity, he stuck his tongue out at Nash, "Please...if I can't walk under my own power, you'll be the first I'll inform." He trailed after him, limping noticably from where that arrow had driven itself into his flesh.

He noted wryly that Farlest didn't say anything about walking under his own power without said walking hurting like hell. But he let it go with a slightly amused shake of his head. "I'm sure you will." He kept his own pace a bit slower though, trying not to be -too- obvious about it.

He noticed it, however, but didn't comment. It did hurt and he was grateful for the other's thoughtfulness. One of the things that he liked the least about being wounded, however, was the plod it reduced him too. It was tiring...and just plain annoying.

Thankfully, the town they'd spotted wasn't too far away, it really was just over that hill. And there were also fairly close to one of the gates in the outer wall. He eyed said wall, wondering for a moment if there -was- something dangeround around here.
Then he realized that it was more decorative then defensive. There weren't really any towers or arrow slits and the like and there were no patrolling guards. So, they were probably safe.

Farlest kept on doggedly, already having made up his opinions about this town's defenses, as that had been the first thing he'd looked for.
It looked like a nice enough place, though he was betting that it didn't see too many travelers in the condition that he and Nash were in...hell, they were strange anyway...

Having also been thinking about that, he paused for a moment and waited for Farlest to catch up to him. "D'you think it's a good idea to walk in as we are?" he asked, quietly. "I think, maybe, I can set an illusion ..."

He cocked his head, "Mmm...if it isn't too much of a strain." He half-draped himself over Nash's shoulder. "Because I get the feeling they don't see critters like you and me too often."
