Description: A spacious apartment in the suburbs of London with plant life living in nearly every corner of each room excluding maybe the washroom and bathroom. For now anyway. There is also a lovely private patio area to enjoy the rare sunlight as well as a small private garden attached.

xXx Pets and Miscellaneous xXx -Nani has a black cat named Orion while Laili has a barn owl named Rey. Both are rather spoiled by their respective owners and their owner's partners.
--They are connected to the floo and have named it 'The Nest.' They only ask that you call ahead to warn them so they can momentarily shut off the Wifi.
---Since both girls were mostly raised muggle, their home is generally muggle as well with Wifi, TV's computers and the like. Neither really use magic too much in the household outside of small things because of this but it doesn't bother them much.
----Their friends and families don't honor their doorbell too often so they're never surprised to see someone not on the lease on their couch.

This summer had been.... odd. It had been full of drama and tears, and of hugs and love... and yet, there was a sharp note of panic. Meallan had been exceptionally closed off, and sometimes even rather short-tempered. It was very unlike him. So with a lot of convincing, Nani and Laili had called one of the top rated audiologists in London. Something was happening with his hearing aids, even if he refused to admit it.
The appointment had gone terribly, given that Mea was upset about the whole ordeal. Nani couldn't blame him, since he was really sensitive about his ears. Of course, the hearing aids were his only link to an entire sense. If they went out... she couldn't even think of how terrifying it must be to be plunged into silence. The doctor ran a few tests, then requested a few scans. Mea, bless him, was really brave through the whole ordeal. But now, now was just a wait. A long, interminable wait, while Mea became more and more withdrawn.
But unfortunately, lives still had to go on. Nani hated going to work, but they couldn't just suddenly drop their jobs. She did, however, make sure to check in all the time. Lunches, breaks, sometimes just if she had a pang of guilt. And this time, she just wanted to check on the kids, but her cell started ringing rather suddenly. Looking at the caller ID, she let out a heavy sigh seeing the hospital name. Maybe it would be good news? "H-hello?" She had to try to keep a calm face. Whatever the news was, she couldn't let her kids see and potentially make themselves upset.
As the call went on, it became harder and harder to disguise. "Are... are you sure?" Nani nodded, feeling tears at the edge of her lashes. Meallan was going to need extensive surgery to correct the implants. She did, however, say that the surgery could be done a lot better this time, and that he would likely not have any problems going forward. "Thank you. I'll... figure it out, then call for scheduling." Nani ended the call, setting her phone face down on the coffee table. With a flick of her wand, a silvery rabbit appearing before her. She whispered to it, watching it hop away. She needed Laili right now, even if it meant her leaving work. Thankfully, the kids were out with Mum & Da, so they hadn't witnessed her breaking down.

It's like the Fourth of July in your eyes  »Owl Tʀᴀɪɴᴇʀ »Hᴜғғʟᴇᴘᴜғғ Aʟᴜᴍɴ »Hᴀᴘᴘɪʟʏ Mᴀʀʀɪᴇᴅ .¸¸.•´´¯`•Laili had really only gone to work because she knew just sitting at home and waiting would just make her that much more anxious. After the Big Talk with Mea regarding his hearing and the numerous doctor appointments and scans, they were now playing the Waiting Game for his results. She didn't have the best patience on a good day so this was practically torture for her, but she also had to make sure not to let it show since she knew Mea was even more anxious than they all were. This was happening to him after all.
She tried to keep busy with work and checking in the all the kids and it helped somewhat. There were always more owls and birds in need of training, especially with school starting just in a few months, and she enjoyed catching up with Rey and Bryn. It would probably take awhile to convince her daughter that all that happened during the school year wasn't a direct reflection of how good or bad of an older sibling/cousin she was and that life unfortunately just happened, but she was up to the task. Plus, she wanted to hear more about this boyfriend! Bryn was going to also take time, but at least they had a start from all the information given from Wen and Lewis.
Laili had just put a lovely young eagle owl away when a silvery rabbit hopped into view with Nani's distressed voice coming through asking her to come home. After only taking a moment to stop by her Dad Milo's office to quickly explain, she flooed home to find her wife in the living room with her head in her hands. "Nani! What happened? What's wrong, is it the kids?!" The message had been short but she only really got upset like this if it was about their children which she really hoped it wasn't.

Nani was sitting on the couch, but she ended up getting up to pace a bit. Within a second, Laili had appeared in a tizzy. Nani hurried over and pulled her wife into a hug. They both needed a little extra love. "Kid singular, actually. The kids are all with mum for the day, so they're safe and sound." She pulled back a bit, looking at Laili. She really, really didn't want to break this news. Actually, she sort of wished she hadn't heard the news. "The scans came back in today. Apparently the receivers for his implants have broken loose in a way." How did the doctor phrase it?
She ran a hand through her messy hair, sighing softly. Tears fell down her cheeks, but she made no move to wipe them away. "She said, the way they are situated now, the sound would alternate between nearly silent and excruciatingly loud, with no way for him to control it. He's likely been in pain for months and he just... Mea didn't tell anyone." She sobbed, feeling immensely guilty for not knowing. She'd thought their trust bond was more than enough, but he'd purposely kept himself in pain so he didn't have to tell them. What other reason could there be?! "The only fix is a full replacement. All the wires, all the internal hardware, even the external pieces. But she recommended a new system, which would dramatically improve his hearing over the kit before." That was about the only good news, because their baby would still need major surgery. The doctor was confident it'd be an easy surgery, but Nani was terrified.

It both made her relax and freeze simultaneously as she explained that the situation was only about one kid but that they were all safe at her mum's for the moment. When Nani pulled back to just stare at her, Laili raised her other hand to lightly cup her cheek. "Just tell me, whatever it is so I can help." she worriedly asked. Finally, Nani explained that the doctor's scans had come back that Mea's implants were broken and that their poor boy had been clearly dealing with this for months with no sense of peace. She continued to explain that his hearing was wildly out of sync and mostly likely hurting Mea from their sound dissonance to then start crying as she reiterated Laili's own thoughts regarding their son.
The blonde reached back out to her wife and brought her close to comfort her as her own tears fell. They had known something was wrong, even if they hadn't expected something as serious as this, and instead of trying to press they had hoped that Mea would come to them with his needs. Instead, they were finding out that their son would rather live in pain than inconvenience them and it stung. It was good to hear that this could be fixed, but she really really did not like the idea of another surgery. It'd been nerve-wracking enough for the first one and even though Mea was older there was still so much that could go wrong! "Ok, well that's...it's not good but it's not horrible? I hate this, I don't know what to say or do to make this better." Laili lamented as she softly rocked her and Nani (more so for her own comfort but she was very willing to share it) as she wiped at both of their tears.

Nani was glad that the Abrams half of the family were always down for hugs. It meant that Nani got hugs any time she felt a little sad. Of course, this was more than just a little sad. She was terrified. But, she had Laili. She had two great families that would do everything they could to help. But as she explained the news from the doctor, she noticed that her wife also felt terrible in the same spots Nani had. Their son, their first baby, was in so much pain, despite them being confident that they could be easily trusted. "That's where I got caught too. What... what could cause him to not want to tell us? Have we ever made him think that he couldn't tell us something?! E-especially something this important." She wiped at her eyes, her breath hitching as she tried to accept the issue at play.
After mentioning everything, Laili noted that it was neither good, nor terrible. She even confessed that she didn't know how to make it better. That meant it was Nani's turn to try and help out. "Well, the good news is that Dr Keppler seems really optimistic about the surgery. It'll be a few weeks of quiet afterwards, but they he would get new receivers, custom made for his specific audio needs. A-and it would dramatically improve his hearing ability. I didn't even realize that his old set meant that he could only hear half as well as everyone else." But maybe it would be something of a gift. He would be able to hear so much better. She rocked with Laili, gently petting her wife's hair. "And, I mean, we all already know BSL. So it's not like he'd be completely cut off. And maybe we could plan some extra family time so he wouldn't feel alone. But it would at least stop his pain." She sighed softly, wiping her eyes so Lils wouldn't see her sobbing. She was determined to help her feel better, so they could be prepared to talk to their kids.

Did he think they were too busy with his siblings? Or did he maybe think if he ignored the problem it would go away? But then why not tell them when it obviously didn't?! She gave a watery sigh and hitch as she squeezed Nani in comfort. Unfortunately, it looks like they wouldn't know until they asked Mea outright which would not be an easy conversation. Especially since it would have to either follow or be followed by the topic of his surgery. As Nani went on to expalin the surgery and his new implants, a faint thing of hope tried to unfurl in Laili's chest at the thought that Mea's receivers would be custom but that his hearing would be better than ever before.
It'd been so long that she forgot that they hadn't been the ones to get his originals and that he'd had them even before the adoption. In hindsight, they maybe should have gotten them check back then to avoid all this mess but, as they say, it's 20/20. Throughout her wife's explanations, Laili watched as she tried her hardest to not completely break down and still offer her comfort and felt loved and a bit guilty. "This all sounds like so much. It's amazing that they'll be able to fix this, it's terrible he's had to live like this for so long, it's terrifying imagining the whole surgery process, it's all...it's all just allot!" Laili couldn't help the watery laugh that erupt from her.
"But you're also right; Mea won't be cut off from communication, he's going to be so completely coddled and spoiled from practically the entire family that we might have to come up with a visiting chart to keep it all straight, and most importantly, his pain will finally stop. We just, we just have to get all this ickiness out now so we can focus on the positives." "The ickiness" being their combined guilt, fear, and anxiety so Laili didn't feel too bad for clinging to Nani for comfort while also trying to wipe both of their tears with a free hand.

It had been a very long, very confusing summer. From getting home and having to confess his issues with his parents to a zillion weird medical tests, but then he found out he'd need surgery to replace his hearing aids. He'd have to be in silence for a while, but his parents made sure he remembered that everyone knew BSL and that he'd never, ever have to feel alone. There would always be someone nearby that could keep him company. It helped that most of his friends were also comfortable with signing.
They worked with the audiologist to discuss which type of cochlears to install. A really cool set was picked, and Mea had to admit the upgrade sounded nice, even if the install would be a little scary. As the days led up, Mea's nervousness... and his temper, were at an all high time. He was extra snappy, but then he'd be immediately remorseful. But on the day, he was just so stressed out. Rey was hanging out with Finn, while Bryn was with Wendel, hanging out at Lewis' house for the day.
The hospital was a little scary, but thankfully all the people there were really nice. His hair had been cut the night before, shaving higher than normal for the surgery. At least he was able to keep the top and didn't have to be bald! (also good because Nana Nora said she could magically fix his hair before school started) The last thing he remembered before waking up was having his hand held by the very nice nurse. When he woke up, his brain was a little frazzled, but at least his mums were there. They kept him company until his brain was awake enough to leave. He changed into warm pajamas, before he took a lil car nap on the way home.
Getting home, Mum sent out her bunny rabbit patronus, letting everyone know he was home safe. She then wrapped him up in his favorite blanket before helping him plop in the comfy chair. He was exhausted, but he was glad to be home. Now he just had to recover... and hopefully not keep saying odd things as he had been when the medicine had his brain all swirly.

Waiting to see the bunny rabbit Patronus from Nani arrive had kept Rey on edge. During the first six weeks of the summer, she’d been nervous and a little bit scared. She was worried about Mea and what was going on with his implants, and, until a few days ago, she was concerned for Finn, though for different reasons.
With her boyfriend, he took an internship with his Aunt Lynn so he could get a crash course in Cursebreaking, so he could get caught up sufficiently to take the NEWT in a timely fashion. He intended to engage in magical archaeology with a focus on Ireland after graduating from Hogwarts, and would need the extra skill training. The internship meant he would earn money; however, he would spend his summer in the field, rather than performing with the Hares or the Rabbits.
Several weeks in Egypt earned him on-the-job training, closely supervised by his Aunt Lynn, a substantial amount of cash, and a nice tan. He was ferried back to Ireland so he could be there for her, for which Rey was grateful. As summer progressed, she was getting increasingly worried about Mea. She had recurring dreams that he didn’t make it back from under the anesthesia; on bad nights, his death marked the first of many, leaving her and Rosie all alone in the world again. Intellectually, she understood a good many had to perish before such an unlikely and tragic situation could happen, and she had many relations who would take her in. With Mea, however, some doctor was going to have a good digging about inside his skull, and there were too many ways for it to end in tragedy.
On the day of the surgery, Rey was so wound up and frightened for Mea that she was barely functioning. Finn appeared, and he immediately wrapped her up in a big hug before offering to keep her otherwise occupied. As was their usual, he took them to a cozy spot they knew, where nobody would bother them, so she could cuddle up with him. At some point, they got breakfast at a village pub in a place she had never heard of, though judging by the accents, she reckoned it was somewhere near Connaught.
Seeing the rabbit, Rey returned to the Nest. The little redhead was wearing a pair of plaid flannel pants and a Quidditch sweatshirt, and though they weren’t pajamas, her outfit wouldn’t have looked out of place in a dorm room. Seeing Mea swathed in his blanket and seated in a chair, Rey smiled and walked over to him. Leaning over, she gave her brother a heartfelt hug, shutting her eyes as she did to hold back the tears she promised herself she wouldn’t shed. ‘ This is supposed to be a happy time,’ she told herself, ‘and he doesn’t need me blubbering over him. Finn, bless him, let me do that.’ Sitting down beside Mea, she smiled, and she signed to him, “I’m glad you're home. Tell me everything, and don’t hold back.”

Too young to think about all that s**t  ᖇᥲʋᥱᥒᥴꙆᥲω ᔑᥱᥴoᥒᑯ Ƴᥱᥲɾ 🟡 Ƴoᥙᥒɠᥱ⳽t ᔑɩᑲꙆɩᥒɠ 🟣 ᙎᥲꙆꙆƒꙆoωᥱɾ 🍎🧀🍊🍍Bryn had been worried and just a bit annoyed that he'd been basically plopped at Lewis' with Wen to keep him company since he'd originally wanted to go and wait with the moms. However, he'd been outvoted and promised that he'd be informed the second Mea was good and safe back home. He hadn't like it but he'd complied-very unhappily- and gone over to be with his cousins. He could tell they were trying their best to keep him occupied and his mind off of things but it would only work for a bit before his mind wandered off again. Su had even tried helping by convincing him to work on a homemade card for his brother and even helped him load his bag with snacks for when he eventually went back home. Luckily they had since only a few moments after he felt content with his card did his mum's bunny patronous come into the flat stating that everything went well.
Bryn only paused to throw his shoes back on and give brief hugs to everyone before he hastily floo'd back home nearly bumping into his mum Laili who only giggled at his nervous energy and helped brush the soot from his hair. "Rey's already in there with him and he might still be a bit off from the medicine, but he's alright." she assured him, to which he just nodded but still wanted to see for himself. The first thing Bryn saw was his older siblings cuddled together and Mea looking a bit peaky (which makes sense since, yknow) but he didn't look too too bad which helped loosen the anxiety knot in his chest. He quickly kicked his shoes off and carefully climbed into the space on the other side of his brother to give him a quick but tight hug. He then pulled back to show off his backpack and opened it up to the small horde inside. "I'm glad you're ok. I brought snacks." Because. Snacks make everything better.
'Cause we could stay at home and watch the sunset
But I can't help from asking, "Are you bored yet?"
And if you're feelin' lonely you should tell me
Before this ends up as another memory
