RP/Story: The kits were getting stronger and more aware. Their personalities bloomed a little more with each passing day. Firefly was sharp and creative. He'd seen her solve problems he hadn't even realized existed. She wasn't easy to keep still, but that made her fun. Fir was clumsy, but endearingly sincere. He was always the first to greet Forest, and extra cuddly on a rainy day.
Forest, without any doubt, loved his children more than he ever thought he could. And with nights slowly growing longer, and the loom of the dead season not far off on the horizon, he was determined to make sure they'd be safe.
The Arbor wasn't far from their humble little den at all, but it was still the farthest he'd ever taken the kits. He had no desire to mother hen them the whole way, but he was nervous. Every time Fir tripped he lost a month of his life. Every time Firefly ran off just out of his vision he felt his heart wither. The sooner they made it to the warren, the better off Forest would be.
It was worth it in the end, however. The smell of plentiful, ripe foods reached them before anything else. That was enough to shape up the kits' behavior and get them properly moving. Never was there a kit that wasn't wholly food motivated. Next came the cacophony of joyful voices, too overlapped to understand any one conversation. His heart raced a bit. It had been a long time, if ever, since he'd been around so many rabbits at once.
Finally they crested the hill and color and motion filled Forest's vision, overwhelming him so much that he froze in his steps. Buns, dipped and speckled and smeared in paint, peddled wares and offered food and performed impossible feats. It was all too much to take in at first. But it was beautiful. He noticed quickly that his two weren't the only kits present, which gave him confidence in his choice.
It took him a few moments to find the council, but when he did he quickly ushered his kits over before they could get distracted and disappear. Though he was nervous, they appeared friendly and inviting to all those around. That definitely made it easier.
He took a deep breath before speaking.
"My name is Forest. I've been a lone rabbit for the majority of my life, but I was recently left alone with my kits," he started, gesturing at Fir and Firefly.
"I'm just one buck, and I'm afraid of them getting hurt or not growing up with what they need. I'd really be thankful if you'd allow us to join."He paused, trying to think of what else he could say to convince them to accept him and his family. What did he know of the Arbor? He were free spirited. They enjoyed dyes. They grew their own berries to support their arts.
"I'm good plants, and I know where to look for rarer berries. I'd be more than happy to join your members in growing and collecting them. I'm sure I'll have a lot to learn, but I promise I'm quick and I'm not starting from a blank slate." "I think it should be up to the kits what they'd like to do, but they're smart and kind. They'll be good members." Forest looked to the two expectantly.
