(( Takes place after the Halloween ORP )) To put it mildly - Lacerta - the senshi of bandages was not having a good night. Being yanked into the shadows, fending off creatures that seemed to have wanted to use her as a chew toy, and then finally ending up on the wrong side of a dragon that had the worst case of attitude imaginable had made for one memorable evening that she wish she could forget. The only bright spot had been meeting another senshi that was probably one of Acubens 'family.' Arnica had seemed sweet enough and they had saved each other in that mysterious shadow world but as soon as the dragon was defeated and darkness fell across the platform Lacerta had lost track of the young man. Taking a single step in the direction she believed him to be in had found her back in Destiny City in a park that she was vaguely familiar with. Her body was in serious protest mode tough and Lacerta winced as she felt the residual burning from the fireball that had struck her near the end of the battle. She had managed to use her healing magic on herself but it barely alleviated the symptoms of being burned.
Turning in a circle the redhead moved stiffly to a bench and sat down with a sigh. Her gaze took in the lights of her home before she withdrew her henshin pen. How easy would it be just to give up and try to stop being a senshi? It would make her life a lot easier but was she really willing to forgo everything that came with the dubious honor? Forgo exploring the chance of kinship with others? Forgo magical talking cats, even ones as scatterbrained as Mel, and forgo having the ability to heal?
No - she couldn't give that all up ... not yet. Leaning back against the bench Lacerta's gaze tracked skyward. What was her home like up there?

Bernard wasn't sure what had happened. He had been refusing to go outside ever since the incident with the Chibi Senshi and her getting lost and teleported through the shadows, but he had decided to go out this day to see if anyone else was in trouble. After all, he couldn't call himself a proper Guardian Cat if he ran and hide whenever there was a hint of danger or it taking a while! But as soon as he had stepped into a shadow, he had been transported to a park he was unfamiliar with, but knew he would be able to find his way back from at least. If there was one constant from all of this Shadow Chaos stuff, it was that they were at least transported in the same city, rather than across the world. After a moment or so he had taken a step into a shadow again and expecting another teleportation, closed his eyes and then opened them... and he was still where he had been. He had not been teleported, he was still partly in the shadow... what did it mean? Did the Shadow's effects just... stop? While he was questioning it though he felt the aura of a Senshi and looked in the direction of a bench. She had not been there before. Had she been transported? Bernard decided to walk up to her, but when he got closer he could clearly see that she had been through an ordeal and was clearly hurt. There was no point in asking about the shadows now but... she was ready for the next stage. And with an upgrade, she may be able to heal, or at least mostly heal, all of the wounds that she had received. He wasn't sure but he hoped it was the case. He gave her a small "meow" to get her to look in his direction before saying, "Madame, I am sorry to address you at such a time as it looks like you have been through much but... I would like to try to heal your wounds. And I believe I can do that by upgrading you."

At first the mere act of stargazing was enough to keep her mind off the pain of her wounds and for a while it was peaceful enough just to try and ignore the odd burst of pain. Soon though Lacerta was wishing for something a little stronger than pure and stubborn ignorance. While she couldn't answer the question of why her healing magic hadn't fully taken care of her injuries there was a niggling concern that was worming its way into her brain. Maybe she just wasn't that strong of a healer. With a sigh and a wince Lacerta leaned forward to rest her elbows on her knees before she caught the aura of a nearby visitor. She brought herself into a more alert posture before the "meow" startled her. Her gaze locked onto the Mauvian that appeared from the shadows.
It was perhaps the truth that the cat spoke of, being through an ordeal, that had the red-head merely nodding in acceptance of his words. She looked down before a mumbled reply of "ain't that the truth," might have been heard. Her curiosity was piqued though by the next sentence that the cat spoke. "Upgrade? Like a higher rank? Do you really believe you have the right senshi?"
Her mind flitted back to a rooftop meeting, after being freshly awoken, with Altais - then a super senshi. Was this what her visitor meant by upgrade. Was she ready to become a super senshi? Lacerta - for the most part - wasn't sure if she was ready for this next step ... or was she?

Bernard gave the Senshi a small smile, his fur-stache curling a little. "Of course my dear. You are ready. And well, I believe it would be best to do it as soon as possible. You seem to be in quite a bit of pain and we should do something about it." He took a couple of steps towards her, enough so that she could reach him if she so wanted. "I will need your Henshin Pen however. It's what I need to upgrade for you to unlock the... "next stage" if you will." He had done this before. Not many times, but he had done it. And he always felt a bit proud when it did happen. The only thing he really disliked about it was the fact that he didn't seem to meet any of the Senshi that he upgraded again, at least in more favorable circumstances. Sure, when they were all fighting for their lives against an unknown entity that even the Negaverse knew nothing about? Yes. But actually meeting, having a bit of a talk or just relaxing? It never seemed to happen. As much as he enjoyed the upgrades, he did wish that he was closer to the Senshi that he helped, at least a bit more than he was.

The cat was right about one thing; although Lacerta would never had admitted the fact aloud; but she was in a considerable amount of pain and it was beginning to bother her more than she was comfortable with. Her gaze lingered on her surroundings for a moment before letting her gaze fall back onto the Mauvian as he drew a little closer to the bench she was occupying. Inside the teen was still doubting that she was ready but it was with a steady hand that she summoned her henshin pen. Running her fingers along the sleek surface the bandages senshi glanced back to her present company before placing the pen down at the feline's paws.
"I am pretty sure you know what you are doing but before you 'upgrade' me can I at least know your name?"
Her expression turned a little sheepish, "I don't want to keep calling you cat in my mind. Putting a name to a face is much easier."
Not knowing if silence was needed Lacerta leaned back before wincing a little as she did before letting her gaze rest on her henshin pen. If this was a ruse she'd need to try and be quick about getting it back ... but something - deep down inside - was starting to believe the stranger's words. Maybe she was ready; and maybe he knew what to do about it.

Bernard gasped. "Of course mademoiselle! How could I have forgotten! I am Bernard." He said, bowing his head slightly. "I'm sorry for not introducing myself earlier, it has been quite a while since I've met anyone new and well, I did want to get this done very quickly I suppose." He said, touching one of his paws on the Henshin Pen. Quickly he tossed it up into the air and did a few circles, he was much too tired to try any somersaults this time around, and the Pen glowed for a bit before the light disappeared and a slightly different pen had taken it's place. He grabbed it before it hit the ground and then placed it gently in front of the Senshi. "I would power down first. Then when you take your Pen again say, "Lacerta Star Power, Make-Up!". That way you will become a Super!" He took a few cat-steps back and then waited for her to try it out, hoping that with her upgrading that she would be considerably less hurt and at best completely healed. tefla Apologies for taking so long to reply!

So the cat's name was Bernard. Sailor Lacerta fixed the name in her mind before trying to hide a wince as she shifted in place on the bench. There was still a niggling doubt but it was quickly being pushed aside as the teen watched with a silence that was unlike her at times. It had to be the pain that was bringing on the silent treatment. Her eyes never left Bernard's slight frame until the cat tossed her pen up into the air. A small protest almost left her lips at the way the cat was treating her most valuable possession but then as her eyes tracked the pen's arcing and circling flight up and then down Lacerta could have swore that the pen glowed and something else had occurred as well.
It wasn't until Bernard had offered her the pen back at her feet that the senshi noted the changed appearance of her henshin pen. She glanced to Bernard and nodded before reverently reaching down and picking up her changed transformation pen. Her whole body protested the simple act of doing so. Before she powered down though Lacerta cast a wary gaze around and tried to suss out if there were other individuals in the area that she needed to worry about. Finding nothing that would possibly indicate trouble the teen did as Bernard suggested and powered down to her civilian form. Taking the pen and raising it towards the dark sky Izobel grimaced before focusing on the warmth that was emanating from the upgraded pen. Tapping into that warmth the girl spoke the phrase that Bernard had given her, "Lacerta Star Power, make-up!"
She wasn't sure what she was expecting before the rush of her transformation engulfed her once more. There was a moment when a wave of soothing energy washed over the teen mid-change that she eagerly embraced. However when all was said and done Lacerta still was in considerable discomfort. As she stood in her newly attired outfit the super senshi was aware that some of the more serious aches she was experiencing were fading. It was a bit of a relief and she sighed before taking in her new appearance. It seemed that her outfit had gone through a radical change and now was probably not the best time to figure out all that was different. Instead Lacerta focused her attention back to Bernard. Her gaze was clearer as she knelt down to the feline's level and ran a gloved hand over his head. "Thank you Bernard for this. The pain is lessening and I have a feeling I know what I need to do to at least ease a little more of the pain."
A whispering, little, voice was chiming impatiently, demanding to be heard and Lacerta raised a gloved hand to the area that was protesting the most still and whispered a new phrase that came freely to her mind, "Lacerta's Miracle growth."
It was almost the same as when she had healed Mel so very long ago. Although this time the glowing bandage remained longer over the area that she was attempting to heal and when the bandage disappeared the teen could at least ascertain that for the most part the area was sufficiently healed and would hopefully trouble her no longer.

Bernard was glad that she took the Pen, though she seemed to be in quite a bit of pain, and he wished that he could do something about it. However, she managed to power through it, powered down, and then back up, and she was finally the Super Senshi that Bernard had sensed her to be.
He purred a bit as she ran her hand over his head, happy that he could help and that she was no longer in so much pain. "Of course my dear. I'm always happy to help a Senshi." He replied, giving her his fur-stache grin. He watched as she used some of her power to heal a part of her body. Healing was an interesting power. Of course, it made fighting harder, but it worked well when one was on a team.
"Super Sailor Lacerta. I like it. Though I'm sure in no time you'll be Eternal Sailor Lacerta. I'm sure that you will do amazing my dear." He said, admiring her outfit. The bandages were flying in the wind a little bit...
He shook his head, trying to distract himself from the moving objects. "Would you like an escort back to your home? I'd be happy to stay with you until you get there!" He offered, though if she did not take it he would be on his way. He had done what he had needed to, and he would have to start making his own way home. He hadn't been there in a few days and scrounging for food had been simply awful.

There had been some doubts in her mind about receiving this gift of more power but as she stood a little straighter Lacerta would end up admitting to herself that it felt right; it felt normal. "Super Sailor Lacerta. I think I like the sound of that too Bernard," however as much as Eternal Sailor Lacerta was considered the redhead couldn't see that far into the future. Things could very well change and faster then anyone could predict. However now was not the time for such negative thoughts. Instead the girl looked down once more at Bernard and smiled. It was sweet of the Mauvian to offer to be an escort home but that was one offer that she was going to have to decline. There was a sense of duty that she wanted to maintain and that was keeping everything that she was away far from her home and her unsuspecting parents. There was a second reason behind her decision and that was of course that she wanted to share the news with one individual who was never far from her thoughts.
Sighing softly Lacerta gave Bernard another long look before kneeling. "It's a touching offer to escort me back to where I reside but I couldn't impose that on you. I think I will be alright. I need to meet with a friend and then after that I'll be calling it a night. Thank you for all that you've done for me tonight though Bernard. I'll never forget the service you have provided to me."

Bernard nodded. "Very well madam. If you ever need help in the future, I will not hesitate to answer." He said, giving her a smile. He felt a twinge of worry at the young woman going home all by herself. She had looked quite hurt after all. But he couldn't try and baby every Senshi forever. They were their own persons and needed to figure things out. He could only help when they asked for it.
"I'll be around then, this is one of my favorite parks. I hope that we can speak again soon." He said, before giving her a bow, turning around and starting his own walk home. It was then that he realized just how tired he really felt, and was glad that he would finally be able to rest in a safe place without having to worry about falling into a shadow and ending up who knows where.

Watching as Bernard turned around and left the area Lacerta sighed before debating the idea that she was contemplating. While it was true that she was still hurting a little bit it was imperative that she seek out Acubens. The news needed to be shared as soon as possible in the teen's mind. Taking off at a slow enough pace Lacerta powered down for the walk into Destiny City's downtown area.
Her mind was sorting out facts and one other fact presented itself to Izobel and that was that she needed to find something to eat as well. A meeting with Acubens wouldn't go over well if she was constantly hearing her stomach gurgle. Ducking into the nearest cafe Izobel quickly ordered a sandwich and soda and sat down to eat.
She was decidedly a little apprehensive but all things would work out fine, she was sure of it.
