It was strange but he was supposed to be meeting Aiden when he got off from work, and he’d left on time, but it took longer than usual to arrive. It just seemed that while he was walking he was winding up further away from the others job, or closer but in a different part of the city. Nothing made sense, though he wasn’t too surprised, something was always happening in this city.
“Sorry I’m late.” Huffing out the words, cheeks flush pink, he was a bit out of breath from running in order to make up for the loss of time. “I don’t know how...but it seems like I’d be in one place and a few steps later I was elsewhere - across town.” He was honest about this, something had really happened and he didn’t know just what. The only thing he could say was Halloween was the cause of it, or at least whatever happened this time of year.
“We should be careful while walking. I don’t think it’s safe. Other people seemed to have issues also…”

Aiden wasn’t about to admit that he had experienced a similar phenomenon and instead he simply nodded his head, taking Alex’s advice into minor consideration. “It’s fine,” at least he was here albeit late. Their relationship had been on shaky ground for some time and a part of him half expected his boyfriend to have to leave abruptly anyway. These outings felt like they were few and far in-between and often ended abruptly. Strange s**t happened this time of year and because of it Alex became an expert at the disappearing act and would randomly come home injured for reasons that he never truly believed. “Should we stop by the grocery store and get you something to drink?” There happened to be one two blocks away and it was one of those odd in-between hours where there should be much in the way of lines. The two of them usually went to the store late anyway to avoid too many people

It seemed the curse that this city seemed to fall under every holiday season had started and he hated it, it was the one time he couldn't stop Aiden from being pulled into the cities magical side. This wasn't some Negaverse or senshi thing...he had no control over it and couldn't keep Aiden out of it...couldn't keep him safe. That I 'm fine from the other made him think Aiden had dealt with similar perhaps, and it bothered him.
For a moment he wanted to clench his hand, but he avoided it, as he glanced the other over. "We can, if you want something to drink as well. Otherwise we should just enjoy the night together. We can do whatever you want." And hopefully remain safe, and in the same place, or so he could hope.
Why did it feel like as much as he was trying...that things were just falling apart in his hands? He was trying, he really was, but Alexandre knew this was all going to fall apart. As much as he hoped it wouldn't he could feel the sand falling between his fingers...he was just delaying it...waiting for the end. But he couldn't help but delay it....he needed Aiden - more than the other knew. Aiden was the normal that he needed...the home he went to after work and after being Benitoite. As much as it all felt like a loosing thing he was going to continue to try - like now.

“Might as well stop by the store then.” It would at least give them a direction to head rather than play the vulture game from the Jungle Book by asking the other what they want to do. “There are a few groceries I want to pick up for dinner.” It had been a while since he had it, but pot roast sounded good tonight. Add some red potatoes and green beans on the side with a generous helping of thick gravy. At the very least it would give him something else to focus on and maybe, just maybe, a warm home-cooked meal would do them both good. As the two walked side-by-side down the sidewalk, Aiden’s gaze was drawn the long shadows that crept up the sides of buildings and made alleyways seem darker than they otherwise should be. When they passed beneath a tree with hanging decorations, it felt like icy cold fingers raked down his backside. Even in the summer when you walk into the shadows there was a noticeable temperature change but this felt… different. He fought the urge to shiver and instead pulled his jacket tighter. It’s probably because I haven’t been as active as usual, or I’m coming down with something. It would at least explain his mood as of late.

"Ok, then I'll pick up something to drink if we're going." Because he wouldn't turn down a drink if they were going to the store anyway, even if he didn't need a drink. He would wind up drinking it once it was in his hand, and he knew it. "Oh?" Raising a brow and turning curious eyes on the other. "You have something in mind for dinner? I can help." Since he did like cooking, but what the other could have in mind he didn't know.
While he knew something was going on, and he was clueless as to what it was, he tried to ignore the shadows as well as the confused people on the street who seemed clueless as to where they were. Shifting closer to Aiden's side, reaching out for a hand, he couldn't help the shiver he felt pass through him. While he didn't draw a coat tighter about himself he saw Aiden do it. "You just felt that too?" He asked with concern in his voice. Something was going on - it had to be. "I don't like whatever is happening." And something was, without a doubt, happening in this city.

Aiden nodded his head in confirmation to Alex’s question about the cold chill when they passed through the shadows. It was an odd sensation but one he was trying to dismiss. “I’ll be fine making dinner on my own,” he replied as Alexandre’s hand found his own. Instinctually he wanted to pull away but fought the urge and just held on to him loosely instead. “The most complex part is making gravy from scratch, the rest is simple.” Sleet Tempest Snape Can probably move this towards a close if you'd like.

"Mmm, that can be complex." Especially if you wanted it to taste good, rather than boring and bland. "If you want any help ask. Maybe I'll try my hand at desert?" He offered up softly, almost hopefully, as he wanted to try and help and work with Aiden in the kitchen.
Damn it, he knew where this was all headed, he could feel it in the air between them, but he was trying to hold on and cling with all he could. He wasn't some idiot blond though. Things weren't going to last, after all this time, and he knew it. Maybe he could, for a little bit longer, cling to things and try...and hold on...make some more memories. Already he knew it would end and already he knew he wouldn't bother trying to settle down again. Too many bad relationships and failed attempts. This was it and it was going to end. Damn it.
"Anything you'd like for desert?" He might as well try though...for now. Just smile a bit longer and try and make some more happy memories.Shanyume I think we can finish with your post or one more from me.
