You notice a black cat with what looks to be some kind of marking on its forehead, which in Destiny City is not an uncommon occurrence. It appears to be opening its mouth as though speaking, though no sounds come out. The cat entices you to follow it both by its silence and strange energy signature, and you don’t quite seem to be going anywhere in particular, but you feel compelled to see where this journey will end. As the small creature gets to a shadow filled area, it turns and gives a final audible meow before seeming to melt into the shadows. All searching yields no results the cat is simply not there…perhaps this wasn’t such a normal occurrence after all!

It could be said that Etoile wasn’t the smartest of cats, and certainly not the smartest Mauvian there was, despite how technologically advanced her fellow brethren were supposed to be. After all, surely, if she was truly that smart, she’d know better than to have gotten herself in the current situation she had unexpectedly found herself in.

Everything had started out normal enough; Etoile was simply on a stroll, one of her usuals, when a strange black cat had caught her attention. Of course, it wasn’t as if she could have known that the cat was anything but unusual- the forehead marking and strange energy aura had identified it as another Mauvian to Etoile, and Etoile being Etoile, had decided to follow after it, in the hopes of making conversation and perhaps a new friend. Before long, the little cat had strayed far from her usual path, so engrossed in following the unknown feline that she hadn’t been paying attention to where it was leading her.

Oblivious to any dangers that may be waiting for her, Etoile tried striking up a conversation.

“My name’s Etoile! What’s yours?” she asked, wanting to know more about her hopeful new friend, but while the other cat opened their mouth, no sound came out. Maybe they were shy? Or perhaps they hadn’t quite figured out human speech yet! Etoile wasn’t one to be deterred- she’d find a way to communicate with her fellow Mauvian. Surely, she could figure something out… or ask one of the smarter-looking cats she had met way back when for help. Something along those lines, anyway.

In the meantime, the journey continued in relative silence, save for the occasional attempt by Etoile at communicating with her newfound friend, who led her down alleyway after alleyway, each more shadier than the last. These things were lost on the Mauvian, however, so engrossed in keeping up was she. Finally, the two reached a particularly dark corner that Etoile couldn’t recall having ever been to before, with menacing shadows that perhaps may have a more sensible person thinking twice about following any sort of stranger into… not that Etoile was any of that. After all, she was the biggest enabler of her bonded senshi’s antics, who was just as reckless as she was.

“Oh! Is this your home?” Etoile asked curiously, excited to possibly get to know her friend better, but the only response she received was a single meow, before the other cat vanished into the shadows. Confused, but not deterred (as usual), the little Mauvian tried peering further into the shadows for any trace of her vanished buddy. “Hello? Where did you go? Are we playing a game now? Should I start counting?” Still, there was no more response, and Etoile, truly baffled (and perhaps a tad bit heartbroken) finally conceded that wherever the black cat had gone, it was no longer around.

(And she had been, very sadly, ditched.)

Retracing her steps back home, Etoile wondered if she would ever see the other cat again.
