Day Seven: As you walk around town, you start to notice that people seem different. Faces you used to remember have been swallowed by shadows; you may 'know' the person by a feeling, but their face is completely masked in deep black shadow. Their voice is unfamiliar, and its clear to you that something is wrong, but no sense of logic can explain this. Shadows seem to be replacing people around you--associates, neighbors, maybe even friends or family members. Even if they act completely normal, you are left with an unsettling feeling. The shadow impostors seem to come and go, but you never feel safe anymore. Something from the shadows is always watching.

Looming.

That was the word Rakovanite would use to describe the general presence of the people that meandered through Destiny City that night. On the one hand, he'd never been fond of strangers or people in general. It seemed reasonable to consistently think of them as something unsavory, something unpredictable and in the way. But this sensation came with more than just disgust. It came with uncertainty and confusion. Rakovanite was a home body as often as he could be. He didn't enjoy going out.

But it was required of him now, for his 'work.' Even if his solitude didn't lend itself to more than knowing people in passing, he was still observant enough now to realize that something was amiss in the eeriest sense of the word.

His classmates that day had been off, as had been the clerk in the little convenience store next to his apartment. These were people Rakovanite ignored on his bast days and held a mild distaste for on his worst days. They were faces and voices he knew due to little more than routine, and even if he couldn't be bothered to care if something was wrong with them in the sense that it may negatively impact their lives, he did have concerns over how it may negatively impact his own.

He did not like the uncertainty of it. The 'why' of it. And it seemed as if there was little he could do to investigate besides patrol, as was expected of him.

It wasn't common for Rakovanite to reach out for help. Captain Fettelite and Captain Wolframite could likely do more for him than Rak expected some stranger could. But neither were the height of ability in their organization, and Rakovanite wanted answers and actions from someone who could perform beyond that of what a captain was capable of.

His own general, Cavansite, had seemed to have little by way of information when he'd visited her a few days earlier, and Rakovanite was still hesitant to trust her. So he'd turned to the data pad and sent a message to one of the first general-ranked names he spotted.

It was for more reasons than one, he tried to convince himself, ever annoyed at the thought that he had to reach out and communicate with someone outside his limited circle. The benefits outweighed the cost. He needed to start networking now to progress to the point where he could aid December beyond simply being 'near' when things went wrong... It was simply necessary. He had no choice. When he wanted something done and had no power to do it himself... He had to rely on others. That's just how it worked.

'Benitoite' was a name he'd heard from a corrupt senshi earlier in the week. He doubted she'd expected him to remember the name, let alone reach out to him, but as far as point of contacts go, Rakovanite still had so few, and he knew better than to squander an opportunity, if he could help it.

The holidays were strange, no doubt about that, when it came to this city. So seeing people acting off, and looking so different, wasn't unusual per say. It wasn't unusual for something this time of year to be off but what was going on was off, obviously. People didn't look like people much less them self - it was like shadows over faces. He had wondered if he looked like that to other people, he certainly hoped not, but he hadn't asked anyone.

Shaking his head the General continued on his way, hands tucked into the pockets of his long coat. He had someone to meet, someone had reached out to seek an audience with him. He didn't know what about, he hadn't asked during the call, but they wanted to meet and discuss something and he was more than willing. So with a location decided the General was on his way.

He could have walked it the whole way but he hadn't, he wanted to see if anything new was happening in the city. Seeing nothing new and strange, the same shadows grabbing at him, he finally settled for teleporting to the location.

"Lieutenant?"

(I hope it's ok to assume your lieutenant arranged for a meeting?)

Rakovanite had little to go off concerning what he might expect of the general when he arrived. The knowledge of a name and a rank had led him to reach out, but he knew virtually nothing else besides only what he could assume. And he assumed that someone at Benitoite's rank would have more experience than Rakovanite did with his single month of being an agent. He didn't know what the other man looked like, but the telltale sign of a sudden appearance coupled with the aura of someone far exceeding his own power tended to make Rakovanite believe this was who he was waiting for.

"General," he greeted in return. "I hope I posed no inconvenience by asking you here." It was still more difficult than not to make it to and from Negaspace and so easier to meet in Destiny City, and after-hours seemed the preferred time for his comrades to roam.

He had explained what he could when arranging the meeting, that neither of his captains were familiar with these occurrences, that even his general had been especially none the wiser, and he'd hoped that someone with more experience would be more well-versed in knowing what someone particularly fresh as Rakovanite should do in this... odd situation. "I am... unfamiliar with so much still," he admitted. "And the people I know..." He thought to the odd overlay of shadows and how they seemed to encompass people, change them, make them feel unfamiliar in a way Rakovanite couldn't describe. "...Are not the most reliable at present."

Something like the feeling of discomfort for no explainable reason didn't sit well with him. He liked reasoning. He liked explanation, but these things were in short supply, of late.

"No, none posed I can assure you." Even if there had been he'd have not said it, and he would make time for duties whenever he could - it was his job after all. He was a General and that came with duties and responsibilities. Things he took seriously, despite looking like a teenager still. At least his uniform looked dignified, rather than some uniforms he'd seen, it lent him some sort of professional and mature look.

"I see, and so you sought out someone with more time spent serving. A good idea." Nodding his head as he spoke, approaching the other till they were closer now. Close enough that he needn't raise his voice and close enough to get a good look at the other.

"What is it you've got questions about. I'll do my best." Though he'd admit he didn't know everything, though he did know a lot, he wasn't perfect. There were members who'd served longer than he had, though most of those people had vanished. He figured most were burnt out from the war and had decided to make a silent exit and exist as civilians...for now anyway. He did hope that when it came time, whenever that was, for all things to come to a head they would return and do their duty.

"Explain things to me Lieutenant."

Somehow I lost this tag...I just found it by random. I'm so damn sorry. I think I lost an open tab for it, last year, and then never found it again.
