Day One: During this time of year, the shadows are always growing longer and darker. Ordinarily, it's not something you think about, but for some reason there is something strange about the shadows this year. When walking through the shadows in Destiny City, it feels cold, or maybe even like the shadows briefly clutched at you. You may feel sluggish when passing through them, or you may feel drained or even unnecessarily anxious. It may be easy to brush off at first, but it's certainly unnerving.
Autumn was drawing in and with it both the cold and the darkening nights began to encroach upon the city. This was nothing out of the ordinary, in the grand scheme of things the seasons came and went. Much like school semesters everyone knew when they would be coming (roughly) and what was expected when they occurred. On this occasion the heavier coats and jackets would come out, the sweaters would be dug out from the back of the closet and the thicker boots would be pulled on to expectant feet.
In the case of Liliane she was quiet suseptible to the cold and as a consequence the thicker socks and more sturyd boots had come out already. Sweaters were now firmly in season and while she continued to rock the more vintage vibe she was much more bundled up than she had been in summer. Suffice to say that by winter she would resemble a ninja with her face partially hidden by a woven scarf and a woolen hat.
Nevertheless as she slipped out into the street, closing the door to her house behind her, she was hit by what could only be described as a rather unpleasant 'blast' of cold. An odd thing to be sure considering there hadn't been any wind, hell, there was scarcely a breeze! Having stepped out into the morning air, surrounded by otherwise dimly lit streets, she couldn't quite fathom why it was so cold. It was only October, the bite of winter wasn't supposed to hit for another month or so...so why?
She'd be late if she dwelled on it for too long.
She adjusted her bag and within a few moments she was walking down the street, eventually the sun would come up. It was more sluggish now, less inclined to show itself as winter did close in and it certainly wasn't helping with the bizarre cold. A little sun would probably have gone a long way but when it came to Autumn beggars couldn't be choosers right?
Her lips pursed as she drew wove through the streets and made her way to the bus stop. At first it was barely noticeable, her stride remained unhindered and despite the bite in the air she wasn't entirely perturbed. It was only as she drew nearer to the lights that kept the bus stop visible that she began to sense something. She could have been imagining it, ever since she had been awoken into her new state she had been seeing and feeling things she'd never been aware of before but...
She paused to glance behind her, a precaution as much as anything, but she was fairly certain that something had touched her.
She was quick to shake her head dismissively and scurry towards the stop before her bus arrived. She wasn't sure what it was about darker mornings but they did always make her feel a bit sleepy; as she took her seat she began to realise just how worn out she did feel. Ah, perhaps she was still adjusting? She was going to appreciate it when her body did finally accept the change in light quality but for now she would make sure she downed something strong when she got to the University.
Nevertheless while such a sensation wasn't too distressing at that time in the morning, it would be throughout the day as things got progressively worse that her paranoia would rear its ugly head. It would only be a matter of time before she fell into step with the rest of the residents of the city and began to feel more than a little 'out of sorts'...
