Ordinarily, it's not something you think about, but for some reason there is something strange about the shadows this year. When walking through the shadows in Destiny City, it feels cold, or maybe even like the shadows briefly clutched at you. You may feel sluggish when passing through them, or you may feel drained or even unnecessarily anxious. It may be easy to brush off at first, but it's certainly unnerving. It was the first time since Illyria had lived with him that the two of them had gone out together, this time powered up. He had hung out with another powered cat before, Itsuki, but this time it was different. This time it was during October, a time that he had been warned about and both experienced as being quite... dangerous. No one could yet tell him if the strange events during this time were due to the Negaverse and its' influence or if it was something else. Something that none of them knew about and he wasn't sure if he wanted to know. Still, it was a chance to test his skills at least, though he would have appreciated it being on a warmer night that this. It was starting to get cold and he hadn't yet gotten used to the change in temperature, even if it the sun was just setting. He knew there was something going to happen, he just didn't know what. He turned to look at his companion. "You all right? Just want to make sure you're okay. I patrol around here a lot so I know this place, but if you want to go somewhere else we can." He felt more comfortable staying near here, which also made him feel a bit guilty. If he wasn't patrolling other areas, did that mean he was missing possible Negaverse Agents or Youma? He hoped not. tefla Hope this is okay for a start!

There had been a small period of adjustment after Kami had extended the invitation to a warm, secure place off the streets of Destiny City. In due time though the young Mauvian had developed a sort of routine that she felt benefited both herself and the surgery senshi. Often enough, if she wasn't outside adventuring the kitten was often found curled up in whatever patch of sunlight she could find around Kami's residence.
Padding silently beside the Senshi of Surgery the young cat scrunched up her face at the lengthening shadows. This was her first time on a patrol with a senshi and even as she was looking forward to doing something new and exciting she found that her fur was fluffing up as she considered her reply. "I'm okay for now Kami," her voice was soft and there was a moment she considered leaping to ride on the young man's shoulders. It'd save her paws but she felt that she needed to be an equal participant, "don't feel bad that you like to stay close to one area over another. It's how you know that the Negaverse hasn't infiltrated here. There are many other senshi who patrol too. The job doesn't just fall onto your shoulders."
Her gaze lingered on Kami's face before she gave a small content mrrow. "If you feel comfortable here who am I to come along and take that feeling away?"
Fluffing up once more Illyria felt a chill run over her body and she shivered before glancing to her companion, "Is October always this cold?"

Kami's shoulders relaxed a little. He didn't want to impose on the tiny guardian cat or do anything that she wasn't comfortable with, so with her reassurance that she was fine let him know it was okay and he could be more at ease. Though there was something weird going on, he could feel it. It felt like every time he went through a shadow he got incredibly cold quickly and he was starting to dodge them when he could. After all, while it was starting to turn to fall, that didn't mean that it was supposed to be so cold already! It seemed that Illyria had the same thoughts though as he saw her fluff up a bit. "Not usually, or at least not until Halloween. but I've noticed it too. I don't know what's up, but the shadows seem super cold. I mean sure, the sun won't be shining on you when you go through one, but it shouldn't make that much of a difference." He replied, shivering again as he went through another one. "Though things always tend to get weird in October. If you haven't been a Guardian cat since last October, then I should warn you that weird, and often dangerous, stuff happens during this month. No one knows if it's the Negaverse or what, but it seems to effect everyone."

'Things get weird around Halloween.'
Just a line like that being tossed out by Kami had Illyria glancing sharply to the young man. Since it was fall already and the amount of pumpkins had increased in recent days meant that Halloween was just around the corner. The sentence intrigued the feline but also made her worry. Was this coolness that one received after walking through a shadow then an unnatural phenomenon? Kami had made a valid point that naturally you'd feel a small chill and, that, while in the summer was a very refreshing option. But in the fall when there was already a bite to the air walking into a frigid mass of blackness didn't sit well with Illyria; and she had a fur coat. Glancing back to the direction from whence they came the cat decided that she'd apologize to Kami later but she wanted be higher than ground level. There was something just unsettling about being close to the ground and the source of the shadows.
With a small sound of warning Illyria sunk her claws into Kami's uniform and used her considerable climbing ability to it's fullest to defy gravity. It might have taken a minute or two but in the end she perched on Kami's shoulders before butting Kami's cheek gently with her face. "Apologies ... but being on the ground was freaking me out. Do you mind if I ride shotgun on your shoulder?"

Kami was about to say something else, when suddenly he was stabbed in the leg, and looking down, saw that the little guardian cat was now climbing up on him. He stopped walking and let her complete the climb. He would have said something about warning him next time, but she did apologize. "It's all right, I understand." He said, walking into another shadow and feeling the chill again, but this time he could have sworn his foot got a little stuck and looking down, didn't find anything that could have caused it. He continued out of the shadow and moved on. "I don't blame you for being a little freaked out. With the Negaverse you can kind of guess that something is going on and what it may be, even if it is an illusion." He still couldn't think of that Circus incident without shivering a little. "But when October comes, it seems to be completely unpredictable. I'm not even sure if it's the Negaverse at this point. Though if it was then that would at least explain things." But so far there had been no word. He couldn't decide that if the Negaverse was behind it if they didn't know and it was somehow leaking into the world more than they thought it would, or if they were behind it and were using some sort of psychological warfare. "I'm glad we could patrol together tonight though. It's better to have two or more at this time of year in a patrol group."

Illyria had settled her weight as best as she could on Kami's shoulder as the young man continued to try and explain the difference between the events that often went down in regards to the Negaverse and the seasonal weirdness that seemed to plague Destiny City. Her fur began to slowly flatten as she took the time to try and calm her racing heart. The shadows still looked out of place, out of another world almost and she would have hissed at the shadows that they continued to skirt around. Eventually the young cat gave an impatient huff before preparing to jump back off the Senshi of Surgery's shoulder. What sort of guardian cat would she be if she wasn't taking the lead and making sure that everyone was kosher up ahead?
Instead of doing so though she thought about what Kami had said. "So we don't know for sure who could be behind things during this time of year essentially? Gotta say, not knowing is not the greatest feeling in the world."
Her muscles bunched up before she started a soft purring, "I am glad that we could patrol together as well. Having the opportunity to get out and stretch one's legs is a fine thing but it's even better with company. We look out for each other, right?"

He nodded. "Yes, I hope we find the answer at some point. I would like to know whatever this other... magic is besides Chaos and Order, if it truly is separate from those two." He said with a sigh, slightly angling his body so that the cat could easily jump off of him. Taking another look around he could have sworn that the shadows appeared to be growing, and he decided to head towards a source of light. Hopefully that might stop them, at least a bit. He nodded again to her. "Of course. I think everyone should patrol with others more often. I know that fighting Negaverse Agents by yourself can be tough, especially when they can so easily call for backup. Or at least teleport." He always wondered how equal the fights were when they had unlimited weapons and the ability to teleport, but he supposed that it did cause them to lose energy which may have made them more sluggish. Still, he wished he could do more as a Senshi. "Let's head to a street light and see if we can find anything suspicious from there. I don't like these shadows."

Illyria felt Kami angle his body for her in case she wanted to leap back down onto the ground. The Muavian was glancing at the lengthening shadows before tentatively working out a route that she could take while on the ground that would avoid most, if not all, of the shadows that still lingered. There was no desire on her part to repeat the experience of the sudden chill that had occurred earlier.
Even as Kami suggested moving closer to a streetlight did Illyria make a noise of agreement at the suggestion. Being closer to a light source would make it so it was less likely that they'd have to worry about whatever strangeness with the shadows was going on. "I too would like to be able to put this current mystery of ours to rest. I don't really appreciate the whole aspect of "not knowing" what's happening."
Even as she leaped off of Kami's shoulder perch did Illyria skirt carefully around a growing shadow that almost seemed like it was trying to 'cut' her path forward off. "It's a good thing I've yet to fight or even find any Negaverse agents then. I don't think I'd care to meet them at all."
Even as she strode closer to Kami's feet did Illyria keep her head turning from side to side. "I like your idea of getting closer to the lights nearby for I too share your opinion of these shadows."

He had blinked but could have sworn that the shadows were moving in random directions. Not just growing. Well, not random, but in ways that seemed to be reaching out to them on purpose. He stepped over one and it seemed to give him a slight chill. "We're almost there. I just wish I knew what was going on. Some new Negaverse magic? A Youma? I'm not sensing anything at least." He said as he quickened his pace a little, making sure that the Mauvian could keep up with him.
