Destiny City News reports several sightings of 'rabid dogs' appearing throughout the city. Those interviewed claim that the dogs would surround them and chase them down the streets, seemingly popping in and out of sight until the person finally found themselves in a well lit area. You have the misfortune of running into these same dogs.
They cling to the shadows as you go about your way at night. Seemingly at the corner of your vision, one flickers by, and you turn and see nothing. Again and again it happens. They are trying to drive you into the darkest corners of the city, herding you away from the light. In the nearby distance are the lights of the city: streetlights, signs, traffic. You have to do something to get there, to escape these creatures. When you make it to any significant light source, you hear a low growl, a wailing hiss; the dogs have vanished.
For now.
He wanted to find these dogs but as much as they were present all over the city, none were able to be caught. He didn't take their mannerisms as "rabid" as the radio and news broadcasts were saying, advising citizens to call the police and animal control of such dogs were sighted and stay indoors.
It was strange they did not approach light but considering his own sensitivity in his eyes, he didn't blame them. What he wanted to know was how to corral them, herd them back, and use them.
He liked dogs.
In an vacant street, he had been trying to get one of the dogs only for them to vanish as he got close. "Damnit "

Crocoite hated this city. He hated the holidays here, specifically, as things always got woefully tedious. Not just because of all the festive and brainless civilians running around, pretending things were happy and fun and not weird at all. No, it was the strange things that always seemed to happen and, worse, seemed to be magnetized to him. Somehow, he always found himself in the strangest situations around the holidays.
Really, if he did not have a quota to fill, he would just stay inside. If he was lucky, he could simply stock up on energy before he went home tonight and not have to come out again in at least a little while. Long enough to get through the end of the month? Probably not. Unless he was particularly lucky.
Luck was never on the crocodile's side, though.
He found himself walking in pools of light to avoid the annoying barking things that were low speed chasing him. He was not exactly running, as they never got close enough to do him harm, and seemed to be tricks of the darkness more than anything else. He just wanted them to stop following him: the barking was getting really annoying.
"Are you being followed by these things, too, then?" he grunted at the officer he saw not too far from him, though he seemed to be trying to bait the dogs out of the shadows rather than trying to get rid of them. "I wonder if it's something going on down this road, or if they'll follow me all the way to my shop." He sighed. Behind him, the dogs continued to bark. For some reason, his did not sound as vicious as the ones the radio described.
In fact, they sounded rather small.

The half-youma turned, golden eyes bright as he regarded the officer and turned around fully. "Yes, but I can't get close enough to them. They n** and pull but they don't stay in one place. I've tried to see if maybe I could get one but they vanish too quickly." He said, deciding to leave his curious watch of the shadows to fully approach the other officer.
"Decided to take a break under the light so I wouldn't be ambushed. You work nearby? They will probably follow you if your workplace is dark." He said.
Then, carefully, he offered one of his large, clawed hands to him. "Captain Wolframite. I haven't met you before." He hadn't met a lot of the newer officers since his treason before.

Crocoite, for his part, had some manners. He accepted the proffered hand and gave it a firm shake, not at all dubious of the claws despite not meeting a half youma before. At least, not one that was on his side. He did know that Merlinite guy, but he was most definitely not a normal corrupted soldier. It was curious the way the youma parts differed between people, as this one seemed more beast like, while Merlinitewas like a dragon.
Crocoite found himself increasingly curious about youma, in general, as well as the effects of corruption and chaos on a starseed and a person. Those thoughts, however, he shelved for a later conversation. Right now, he had a very yippy and annoying problem to focus on.
"Captain Crocoite. It's a pleasure. Finally a soldier that is not immediately telling me I am too dour for their tastes." The man, older than most of his compatriots, rolled his eyes. He had little to no patience for kids, whether they were on the Negaverse's side or not. Bubbly personalities grated his already thin and frayed nerves. He preferred calm, business focused people. "Well, at least I can take comfort in the fact that I am not the only one being plagued by these things. I'll have to remember to turn on all the lights once I get back."
Her preferred a dim, ambient lighting when the store was not open, but he supposed he could deal with bright lights if it meant fewer barking shadows.

He had to give a little chuckle at that as he was mindful of their shake, being light as to not dig his clawtips in. It was refreshing to see someone not hesitate or second guess his gesture when they looked at his hand. While it was clearly dangerous as it was his weapon, it was rather insulting they would think he would be so careless as to cause them injury. If he was that careless and inexperienced with his hands, he wouldn't offer the handshake to begin with.
"Well that makes two of us. Most people consider me abrasive, serious, and get annoyed by my focus of work. I think they forget it's more my life than most people. It's not like I'm about to talk about the latest sitcom drama or my work." This was his idea of humor,. Ring a half-youma and unable to mix with the civilian world.
Dropping his hand to his side, he looked out down the street. "Between the two of us, we should be able to handle things. I can walk with you to your place and teleport out. That is unless you don't want me to know where you live. If so, you can tell me when to stop. Sound good to you?" He asked, not having much in the way of other plans for the night and finding his patrol being more and more difficult with the dogs. Staying to the rooftops was okay for traveling but there was only so many managable buildings to hop to and from in this district. [/size
