Kelly was pleased to be spending this beautiful evening with Blair. Sometimes she still couldn’t quite wrap her head around that she had another friend, and thus far, this friend hadn’t up and vanished…but there was still time…and she was doing her best to keep the pretty brunette at what she hoped was arms length.
It was getting close to Halloween, and while Kelly didn’t…hate Halloween…it wasn’t her favorite time of the year. In fact…it was one of her least favorite times of the year…and maybe she did hate it. A little. A lot.
Though, it wasn’t the season’s fault that it reminded her so much…
Well. That wasn’t important.
The girl glanced sideways at the brunette and nudged her shoulder gently. “…Do you have any other great ideas for tonight? After we get ice cream, I mean?”
That idea had been such a nice one, and she had been excited for it, not that she was going to let on.
There was a sudden noise a few feet away, and Kelly let out a hiss of fear, startled. “s**t…what was that?”
Even after being a senshi for the past few years…she still wasn’t used to the strange noises that could come out of the city. Still wasn’t used to much of anything, and surely didn’t like any of it. Though…perhaps this wasn’t going to be so bad…it was nothing more than a dark cat…though there was something on its forehead and it looked as though it were talking…
Oh…but…no, what…?
Kelly glanced up at Blair, trying to seem as confused as possible…though it wasn’t hard. She was confused.

By contrast, Blair loved Halloween. And fall, in general. Cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything, and an excuse to spend a whole day, or even a whole week if you wanted to go all out, dressed up in fun costumes. A theater kid's dream.
Plus, any time spent with Kelly was time well spent, even if Blair was never entirely certain where she stood with the other girl. Sure, they were hanging out and talking regularly, but there was something about Kelly that seemed...closed off.
But maybe Blair was wrong. She wanted to be wrong. She really, really wanted to be wrong.
"Maybe we can see about a late movie, or something?" She offered, and gave Kelly a smile.
Which sounded like a great idea, until she heard a strange sound.
Blair wasn't stupid. She knew there was something up in Destiny City. It was impossible not to know, with everything that happened to Lance and Alistair. Blair was, however, impulsive, and a strange noise and a strange cat with a strange symbol on its forehead was more than enoguh to have her going after it.
"Here, kitty kitty...." she beckoned, moving towards it slowly and carefully, so as not to startle it.

The strange cat stared at the two of them for a few more moments, its long black tail swinging slowly, mouth still moving as though conveying the very secrets of the world to the two of them.
Though, as Blair moved towards the cat, it suddenly turned and flitted away, utterly vanishing into a patch of shadows that were caused by the edge of a building.
For a moment, Kelly just stared, her mind working hard, trying to process the information, not withstanding the fact that the cat was no longer…no longer anywhere. Talking cats normally meant senshi…which meant…maybe Blair…maybe…
Her mouth felt dry and she wondered if she should…try to do with Miss Lesath had done. Wasn’t she the same rank now? Didn’t she have the wings on her back to prove that? So in theory…couldn’t she…if that cat was trying to tell her something…couldn’t…couldn’t she.
“B-blair?” The word came out as a croak, and fifty thousand reasons as to why she shouldn’t try this came to mind. Her face felt pale, and she felt terribly clammy. “Blair…um. Do…do you…b-believe in magic?”
God. Now she was going to lose this friend too.

It was strange, how human the cat was acting. Its mouth was moving, but no sound was coming out, and it didn't look as if it was making normal...cat...sounds. In fact, if Blair had to guess, it seemed like it was trying to form....words? But no, that was obviously ridiculous, wasn't it?
Except, well...was it, really? How many times had Alistair or Lance or Quinn or Cassandra disappeared for a while and come back injured, or somehow different. Speaking of, the way that Cassandra had suddenly appeared in Lance and Alistair's lives, and yet was a close enough friend, somehow, to carry their kids seemed just as weird. Lance's old friend Cait had disappeared, and then a tiny green-haired girl named Clary had dropped in out of nowhere, before vanishing herself and being replaced by Cassandra. Rhys, who had been a friend oft he family since he and Ali were tiny, had simply up and vanished one day with no warning. And those were just the ones she knew personally, the ones that happened directly to people around her. Never mind how the city always seemed to have something weird going on.
So maybe a cat that seemed to be trying to talk like a human and had a strange emblem on its forehead wasn't so weird. Not in the grander scheme of Destiny ********' City.
And then the cat fled, and it vanished.
"What," Blair said, softly, and she blinked at the spot where it had been, before turning to Kelly.
She wanted to make a joke. She really did. Something dumb and just shy of blatantly flirtatious, something that might make Kelly smile and laugh it off.
But Kelly looked so...serious, and so shaken, that Blair couldn't make herself summon up anything even approaching humor.
"...Yeah, I think I do," she admitted, quietly. What other explanation was there, for all the weirdness in this city?

Kelly wished that she had something to drink, for it felt as though she would never get the words out, and when she finally managed to pry her lips apart, all that came out was a frightened squeak. Though…when Blair said that she believed in magic, she felt a small bit of hope rising in her and nodded, biting her lip.
“W-well…”
This wasn’t so hard. It couldn’t be so hard.
“T-talking c-cats…I met one once and um…they normally mean that…y-you’re magic. Or something…are you magic? B-because if you’re not I think I…c-can help.”
With trembling fingers Kelly drew out her henshin pen and clutched it for a long moment, hoping that this wasn’t going to be some horrible awful idea and wasn’t going to end up with her being laughed at, or worse…attacked by Blair being some other senshi.
God if she lost Blair…she would just utterly go mad.
After powering up into Eternal Sailor Kibirev, the girl couldn’t meet her friend’s eyes. “…I can make you magic. That’s how it worked for me…There was a talking cat and…and Miss Lesath made us…made us magic.”

Blair blinked, and then blinked again, and looked down at herself--round and soft and squishy, and not exactly impressive magical material--and shook her head.
"Magic? Me?" She sighed. "If I didn't know you, I'd think you were making fun of me, but....you wouldn't, so, here we are I guess."
And then she watched Kelly change, and her eyes went wide, bright and shiny with admiration.
"Oh, wow," she said, softly. "You're so gorgeous, like....you're really pretty usually? But even more pretty? I." She coughed, and covered her mouth, blushing a little. "....Yes I'd like to be magic, please make me magic, I'm going to stop talking now."

Kibirev stared at her for a long moment, and finally gave a little laugh, feeling her face heat up in a rush of emotions. Blair hadn’t screamed. Or run away. She had only called her pretty. And said that she looked even prettier as Kibirev.
She…could handle that. Most likely. “All right…I um!” For a moment, she wasn’t quite sure what to do, feeling as though she suddenly hit a wall but…
“Oh! Right! Here um…” Reaching out, Kibirev took Blair’s hand and savored the feeling for a moment, wishing she had the courage to do something bold or silly and lace fingers with her. That would feel nice, she suspected.
She was not a bold creature though, and simply averted her eyes as she tugged her friend towards and into the nearest mirror, working through exactly what had happened to herself and Bea when they had both been awakened to this new life.
At the thought of her former friend, Kibirev faltered and swallowed hard, her grip on Blair’s hand tightening. “So…um. This is Mirrorspace and…I’m going to help you become magic!” Providing that it had been one of the guardian cats. Providing that she could figure out what to do.
Glancing sideways, she tried to judge what her friend was thinking. “…Please don’t be scared. I won’t let you be hurt…”

Blair inhaled sharply when Kibirev took her hand, and then she felt very, very silly for doing so; she didn't need to be an idiot about this. Really, she didn't. The girl she had a crush on was holding her hand and leading her somewhere magical and mysterious on the other side of the looking-glass, this was literally the coolest thing that had ever happened to her. No. Big. Deal.
(Very big deal.)
She looked around, taking in the place that Kibirev called "Mirrorspace," and exhaled.
"Wow, this is...really something." She said, and then she looked Kibirev in the eye, firmly. "Now, what do I need to do?"

Kibirev felt utterly nervous, and when Blair’s words seemed more than a little lackluster, she felt as though she were just…wilting. Utterly and completely wilting away. “Oh…um y-yeah it’s…something…”
She felt as though she had lost all of her confidence, though when the brunette looked right into her eyes, she bit her lip and nodded, still holding the other girl’s hand. “Well. Come this way…I guess.”
Quietly, the Eternal Senshi led her friend to the great, black mirror that sat in the room and after a moment’s hesitation, she tugged Blair closer, and gently pushed her into the mirror itself.
If this was going to work, obviously this was the best way to do it. If all of this was just some cruel joke and that cat hadn’t been a special one…well then.
…Obviously she was again going to be friendless.

Blair went when Kibirev pushed her, and stepping into the mirror was like stepping under a pool of ice water. She let herself fall, into and through the darkness, and when she came out the other side, she was changed.
She looked down at herself, and gasped. There was no question--she was magical. Her head jerked back up, and she looked at Kibirev with wide eyes, and then flung herself forward, wrapping her arms around her friend.
"Thank you!! Thank you thank you thank you!! This is amazing!"

If she were going to be honest with herself, Kibirev hadn’t thought that this would work. She was so utterly crippled with self-doubts and worries that she could hardly even bring herself to look. Though, when she suddenly felt the flair of a new dark mirror aura spring up, she swallowed hard, and when she felt arms wrapping around her, and the excited babbling of Blair’s voice, Kibirev managed to finally look up.
Blair was a Dark Mirror Senshi.
She had actually done it.
For a long moment, she only stood there, and then with a shaking laugh, she hugged the other girl back, squeezing tightly. “You…you’re welcome! I…I’m so glad that it worked! Now you know my secret…and now…we can be even better friends…”
Provided she still wanted to be…though. She seemed so happy. For a moment, Kibirev just nuzzled a little closer, letting her eyes close as she enjoyed the moment of warmth in Blair--or whatever her new name was—‘s arms. “Thank you…”

Blair nodded, excitedly. "I can't believe it, this is...this is amazing." The magic and Kelly, huddled up against her, pressed in her arms...
Blair blushed, and then disentangled a little bit, though she did it reluctantly. It was such a nice, comfy hug, and part of her wished it could be more than it was. But like Kelly had just reminded her, they were friends. Nothing more.
"Thank you. For trusting me with this. For bringing me here, and for...for introducing me to all of this." She twirled around. "And look at me! Look how gorgeous I look!"

Kibirev laughed softly, looking so very happy. “Of course! You do look gorgeous! That purple is so pretty! Come on, we have to figure out what your name is and how to get your supplies!” That would mean either finding that cat again from earlier or finding another Guardian Cat to help out but…that shouldn’t be too terribly difficult.
She gazed at Blair for a long moment and hesitated, holding out her hand and taking the new senshi back out into the city, savoring the warmth of her hand while she had the excuse to hold it.
Finally she hesitated. “To go back to normal Blair, you just think about who you are, what you look like…and then…” Kibi closed her eyes and her own magic faded, leaving Kelly standing before the brunette. “See? Then, we can go find a cat! Easy peasy!”
Now, if she could only assure that she wouldn't lose this friend...this would just be perfect.
