After all the shopping she had done it was no wonder she was tired, even someone such as herself got tired from a day out shopping, and Genevieve had called it an early night. Shortly after dinner, spent with her parents, she had headed up to her room to wash and get into something comfortable for bed. She stayed up for a while, not accustomed to going to bed so early, but she did eventually fall asleep.

It wasn’t until hours later that she woke, in the middle of the night, to some odd sound. It almost sounded like one of her cats but it wasn’t one of them. When she sat up and turned her light on she wasn’t surprised to see more than one of her cats, they liked to curl up and sleep about ehr bedroom and on her bed, but what did surprise her was how agitated they all seemed. Their eyes all directed at the same thing.

Crawling across her bed she spotted candy corn on her floor; where had that come from? What, without a doubt, had her cats acting out was what was in the middle of the circle of spilled candy. It looked like a candy corn itself but it most certainly wasn’t. It looked like some gremlin or troll...something small and creepy looking with gnarled pointed teeth and glowing eyes. Getting up, grabbing a pillow as she did so, she aimed to beat the thing and make it leave. Shouting at it, she’d later be glad her room was across the house from her parents, she didn’t expect the thing to lunge at her and bite down on her leg. Crying out in pain, one of her cats flying after the creature, it scampered away off to somewhere unknown. Looking out her bedroom door she saw... nothing. Had it vanished? She heard nothing and saw nothing as well. It had - hadn’t it.

Scooping up her cat before it could give chase, and bring it’s siblings with it, Genevieve managed to make her way to her bedroom door and close it. She didn’t need her cats being attacked by whatever that had been. She also didn’t want to go after it or have it wander itself back into her room. The cat was deposited no her bed and the candy corn scooped up from her floor. Marching over to her window, throwing the window open, she tossed the candy outside before closing her window.

“Falls here...I should tell someone.” Maybe Jada...keep her and her family safe. That was an idea...but not this late. She’d call in the morning and let Jada know.

Were she friends with others, lots of others, she’d be calling a meeting the next day to let them know what had happened to her. She’d let Jada know though and see if Jada could do something about spreading the word; as it should be. That was the thought that Genevieve fell back to sleep to.

As you head down a very familiar route that you frequent one night, you come across someone giving away free candy corn. Whether you love it or hate it, free is free and you decide to take it home, shoving it in your pocket to be forgotten. Eventually you head to bed, only to be woken up but a soft, high - pitched snarling sound near the foot of your bed. You sit up and find that the candy corn is splayed out across the floor, and among it, in the center of what seems to be a sacrificial circle… Is a knee high gremlin shaped like a candy corn. It sees you and bites you, before scampering away. Before you can catch it, it's disappeared. Sans the strange little bite on your leg, there's no evidence this was anything more than a dream, and by morning the marks are almost completely gone. The only lingering effect is an extreme need to consume sugar for the next twenty four hours.
