-------------------------------------- xX PERSONALITY xxxxxx
ROMANTIC-- Halinor is a romantic. She lives for the heart-wrenching sweetness of romance stories. She loves daydreaming and thinking of fanciful resolutions to troubles. This core trait is keeps her hopeful and resilient in the uncertainty or despair.
ADAPTABLE-- Nor is generally easy going and flexible. She’s always willing to learn, and even if the only thing she would really consider herself good at involve flowers, she’s gotten quite good at picking up skills that involve working with her tools. She manages to deal with complications with a calm smile, even if she’ll collapse (or explode) once it’s over.
PRACTICAL-- Sweet notions and stories are all good and well, but at the end of the day, Halinor grew up knowing very clearly that she had to make a paycheck. This understanding kept her from being a complete pushover before the outbreak, and in the months since it’s let her focus on the immediate objective on raids. She understands that things have to work first, and the living and making pretty part--which is what she specialized in--comes second.
AMICABLE-— Halinor always tries to get along with everyone she encounters. She only had a handful of close friends, all of whom she can only hope are still safe, but between her friends at school, her boss and neighbor at the flower shop, and her mom at home, Nor was never alone. She’s not exactly an extrovert--not being alone usually just meant working quietly together--but she does try to make friends with everyone.
HANDS ON-- Nor thinks very much with her hands, obsessing over the nuance of her project and always trying to make something pretty. She has a good sense of how to make things grow and how to make the most of what herbs she has, or generally how to do things with machines if she knows what she’s looking for. While she can’t always explain her thinking, she works best when she has something in front of her to fiddle with and some direction or goal,
SIMPLE-- While with her work and flowers Halinor demonstrates her extraordinary attention to detail, Halinor is generally laid back and relaxed. She doesn’t like gossip or mind games, and dreams of a humble life working in the flower shop. She does though, enjoy thinking of sweet symbolisms, such as speaking through the language of flowers and fortune telling “psychics” are fun.
Strengths and Weaknesses x■ Eye for detail/ Caught in the weeds-- Halinor has a keen eye for detail and making small things perfect and pretty. But she often gets caught up in the weeds and usually needs someone to pull her out to look at the big picture or remind her of other concerns. x■ Jack of a few trades -- Halinor is a fairly quick learner when it comes to domestic and hands-on work, but the only thing she’s ever really stuck with thus far is gardening and a little bit of cooking. x■ Social/ dependent-— Whether it was a friend or significant other at school, Mrs. Notley-Kim at the shop, or her mom at home, Nor has always had something around to rely on, either to keep her grounded or just be there to chat and enjoy a moment. Great for socializing, but it’s made her reliant on having other people around to keep her on her balanced.
Fears x■ Pain and disability -- living with constant health issues or not being able to run. x■ Death by fish x■ Seeing friends among the dead, or turning into one herself.
Special Skills x■ Gardening x■ Cooking x■ Handy with tools

xX BACKSTORY - PRE-OUTBREAK xxxxxx
spaceHalinor Oakley was born in a modest suburb in Dallas Fort Worth, attended decent elementary school and had loving parents. That gilded dream shattered in a car accident in October 2008: her father was killed, and her mother was paralyzed from the waist down. Between therapy, childcare, and finding a job, Nor’s mother struggled to pay the bills.
spaceNor and her mother eventually found some stability in a small townhouse down the street from a flower shop. Mrs. Notley-Kim, the elderly store owner, watched over Nor while her mother worked late hours. Halinor started helping out around the shop and started working to help with finances once in high school. She picked up another job immediately after graduation, but running weddings and the flower shop remained her dream.
spaceIn school, Halinor was a straight B student, and rather unremarkable in the crowd. She definitely preferred projects where she could work with her hands or be creative. She had two close friends since middle school and stuck with them and their circles and the occasional significant other. Her first relationship lasted two years and ended when she found out the guy was seeing another girl. As the drama settled, she and Erin, the other girl shifted easily from rivals to friends. After months of awkward flirting and questioning their sexuality, they started a happy relationship that unfortunately ended 2 months later when Erin moved to California for college. Long distance didn’t quite work, and they finally decided to just stay friends.
spaceNor had heard stories from her mom the weeks leading up to the actual outbreak. But her mother had a penchant for exaggerating the stories she heard at the hospital, and Nor was otherwise busy with her own life and a very condescending supervisor. When the outbreak reached her, Nor was at the airport with Jen and Tim, Jen’s boyfriend, waiting for their other friends to fly in. Within hours the three found themselves stranded with a few other survivors in the airport gift shop, praying their friends were safely elsewhere. The group raided security and luggage holds for supplies and kept each other sane and alive. Their safety was destroyed when an argument within the group attracted a horde. Halinor got separated from the other survivors, but the last she saw Jen and Tim had managed to get to a car. On her own, Halinor is now desperate to find news on her friends or mom, or at least other survivors.

Yer post is gonna go here. Words. Descriptions. Let us know what your character is thinking and feeling. Let us know what's going on with their senses. Put yourself in their shoes. "Oh, and sometimes your character will say stuff. That'll go here," they say. And then maybe you'll say why they said that, or how they felt as they said that. Thinking is also good. Anyone ever tell you to think before you speak? Exactly.
