SMART - Gigi's always been told she was too smart for her own good, although admittedly, that was mostly from kids who didn't like her in sixth grade. She could understand concepts and figure out problems quickly, especially math problems. Her school grades were a point of pride for her, but unfortunately, she was always more book-smart than anything-else-smart. HARDWORKING - Gigi's parents always pushed the idea that she could do anything if she worked hard enough and she believed it. Whenever she has to do something, she gives it her all and does her best to complete whatever task she has to the best of her ability, no matter how limited it might be. PERSISTENT - Gigi does not like quitting. She's of the opinion that as long as she tries, she can get somewhere. She hates failing and quitting simply means admitting that she fails. Even if she gets things wrong, she'll keep trying until she gets it right. HELPFUL - To be honest, Gigi is a people pleaser. She doesn't like feeling useless and tried to offer help whenever she can, sometimes to her detriment. She doesn't even find the latter to be a problem because if she's the one having the problem, at least it's not the other person. INSECURE - Gigi was always called the smart girl, someone who made her parents proud and while she herself takes pride in that, she's also worried that she doesn't have much more to offer. She hides it very well under her persistence and an almost stubborn belief that things will go right though. NAIVE - Gigi was always rather sheltered. Her parents took care of her and all she had to focus on was to get good grades and get a good job. She can be rather optimistic and subconsciously, she thinks that things will work out eventually. She always expects the best out of people and her inability to read people doesn't help.
Strengths and Weaknesses x■ Very hardworking and persistent but doesn't know when to quit x■ Quite smart and can understand concepts quickly but isn't very good at thinking practically x■ She's good at listening and helping others but she hates confiding her own personal (emotional) problems to others Fears x■ Being useless/disappointing people x■ Being alone and dying x■ Drowning Special Skills x■ She can cook very well x■ She's good at macgyvering small tools and getting the most out of them x■ She's a good listener and can empathise with people

xX BACKSTORY - PRE-OUTBREAK xxxxxx
spaceGiselle was born in Arlington as a first-generation American, her parents having emigrating there from Egypt. Their family was a lower middle class one but her parents were loving—if a bit strict—and she never wanted for anything growing up. Being an only child and given her great performance at school, her parents had high expectations of her, encouraging her to focus on her studies in order to get into a good university and get a good job, often at the expense of things like going out with friends and socialising. 'That all can come later after you graduate with good grades and start your career' was what they told her when she wanted to go out to a party or get a part-time job and it was repeated often enough that Giselle came to really resent that statement, but she loved them too much and was too meek to do anything about it.
spaceShe eventually graduated high school and was accepted into MIT's Mechanica Engineering program, to her parents' endless pride, and she was quite happy about it too. Having to move away from her parents to live on campus, Giselle found herself much more free than she used to be and took this chance to live out her college days as best as she could. While she never lacked any friends at school, she wasn't close to anyone and at college, she was much more outgoing: staying out late, going to concerts, attending a party or two, even going by the name 'Gigi' to basically reinvent herself for the college crowd. Her grades weren't spectacular like they used to be in high school (and it was something her parents noticed and commented on disapprovingly), they were still pretty good.
spaceShe was finishing her third year of study when reports were coming in about mysterious attacks on people and she didn't think much of it. But within days, rumours of a zombie apocalypse began to spread on campus and a few people even fled the school. While still thinking all the rumours were absurd, Gigi was privately relieved to be visiting home for the long weekend. She was in Dallas when their bus was attacked by a horde of people who acted in such a way that they could only be called zombies. Frightened out of her wits, Gigi barely managed to escape with a few other passengers only to be confronted with chaos and the horrifying realisation that this was happening everywhere.
spaceAt first, the group of them (and a few stragglers who found them) kept together, but tensions grew between the more headstrong ones about where to go and what to do and after an attack that left someone dead, there was infighting within the group. Gigi and a couple others tried to keep the peace but harsh words and accusations of not contributing anything beyond nagging were thrown against them. Despite her hopes of keeping together because of safety in numbers, the group split, with one group heading towards the coast and the others going inland.
spaceThe smaller group of four got along better and beyond some close shaves while trying to get supplies, they managed to make good time. By that point, Gigi was still incredibly scared, but with how well things were going, she dared to hope that they could make it to Arlington safely and be reunited with her parents. But unfortunately, by the time got there, the city was overrun and a surprise attack forced them to split up. With a baseball bat and sheer dumb luck, Gigi lost the zombies on her tail and managed to get to her parents' apartment, only to find it ransacked and empty.
spaceUp until that point, Gigi only contact with her parents was a phone call she made before the first attack, telling them that she was on her way. Even after the attack when she found the phone lines were down, she didn't worry too much when she couldn't contact them. Her father was strong and her mother was resourceful enough to keep each other safe. But standing now in the empty apartment with broken furniture and blood streaks on the wall, all she could hear was her mother's worried voice telling her to be safe and that they'd be waiting for her and she broke down crying.
spaceAfter that, Gigi desperately tried to find her groupmates, dodging and hiding from zombies whenever she could, but it was to no avail. She eventually decided to leave the city and find her luck elsewhere, more terrified and alone than ever.
