After a long drive past the edges of town and though long stretch after long stretch of country roads slowly turning small access drives and the spans of open farm land turning into trees growing denser and denser the trio eventually pulled into the summer house’s drive way. The mage parked the car by the door and Xenia jumped out and gently got her new pet from the back. She carefully carried him into the house and into a bedroom on the second floor where she carefully laid him on the bed and pulled his shirt off. The mage quickly joined his old familiar partner and asked her to grab some things for him while he started to see just how badly hurt the male slave was.


Xenia gathered everything as quickly as she could, worried that the mage would need her for her amplifying ability. By the time she returned the other was ready and with his guidance the two of them were able to abstract the bullet and start the process of healing the worst of his wounds, the lighter ones either completely healed or almost completely healed by the time Xenia was done she had completely tired herself as she had to use more of her raw magic than she was used to now that her contract with the mage was officially voided he could no longer feed as much magic though her so she laid napping in a chair beside her pet while the mage cleaned up and changed the other male out of his torn and dirty cloths and into some clean sweat pants and a loose fitting but clean white t-shirt and waited for the other to wake up now that his spells have worn off.

The mage entered the room a little bit after Yusef would have woken up. He approached the bed with a glass of water and some foods of different kinds, some easier to eat for the slave and some with special magic properties for Xenia when she stirred again. Though he paused as he saw the slave had woken up. “I brought you some water, you must be parched but drink slowly your body is still weakened.” He said, his voice was softer than it had been when he spoke to Xenia as the shop but held the confidence of someone high ranking in their craft. “You got lucky those slave traders had you out when they did. Your mistress put a lot of energy into helping heal you.” He explained as he handed the other male the cup of water before setting the trey of foods on the end table before looking over at the resting kitsune sitting on the other side in the chair. He debated letting her rest longer but knew she’d be more upset if he didn’t wake her.


“Xen, it’s time to wake up.” He said his hand lightly petting her head. Xenia’s hand immediately shot up to grab his wrist as she cracked open an eye for only a moment before closing it again. A few seconds later though both eyes blinked open and she yawned. “How long was I out?” She asked her voice betraying her sleepiness a moment before she seemed to be fully aware and looked over at Yusef a moment before smiling. “I’m so glad! You’re finally awake, how long ago did you wake up?” She asked standing up and walking over to his bed. “Xen, I need to go home and deal with those matters from this morning, but I will send Sai over to finish cleaning this place so you two can finish settling in.” The mage said before vanishing right there after Xenia waved bye though most of her focus was on the male slave. “How are you feeling? Any pain?” She asked concerned.

The mage offered a small short of smile to the slave when he was thanked. There was a silence as Yusef sipped on his water a bit and the mage set the tray of food down. Though the next thing the male dragon said made the mage pause. “Not everyone in a position of power it cruel to others of lower positions. However, it really isn’t me you should be thanking.” He replied. “You should rest for the rest of today though, even though you were asleep your body went though a lot and judging from your expression your mind did as well.” He said giving a empathic look, he had seen some of the other’s dreams though his spells that kept the other stable while he and Xenia worked. But he wouldn’t mention it unless the other wanted to talk. It wasn’t his business anyway as this slave wasn’t his to begin with.


Xenia nodded when Yusef said he’d only woken up a few minutes ago though she frowned as he looked away. Was he upset about something? Or had her partner’s spell not yet completely worn off? Though if it were the latter, she would have sensed it as she had grown quite sensitive to traces of her master’s magic from all the years she had spent with him as a familiar they had developed a odd kind of bound and friendship with each other. She nodded when the slave said that he thought all his wounds were closed. “You were badly beaten up, and those wounds were serious. They may be healed over but be careful they can still open or cause problems if you overdo it our magic can only go so far after all.” She said. Xenia stretched, her normal glimmer fading revealing all of her tails. It was then she looked over and noticed the trey of food. She picked up a piece of fruit off the trey with a smile as she bit into it, it was a special fruit though her partner grew so it ripened absorbing his magic. By doing so it made it extra sweet to anyone with any magic abilities of their own but it also helped them to replenish their own magic faster. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, but how many masters have you had that hurt you?” She asked her voice quieter as she looked out a window her tails swaying behind her as she held an expression as if she was thinking of something.

Xenia’s ear flicked as Yusef took a deep breath before saying he was alright before showing her that he was healed and she smiled. “I can see, just don’t push yourself, magic can only work so far so just be careful and let me know if something feels off.” She replied though she acted like she didn’t notice when he started to stand but sat back down as she finished her fruit. Though as she picked up another she got an idea and cut off a slice when he mentioned her tails, she giggled a bit playfully at the sound of his voice. “I’m a Kitsune, but currently I only have three tails, but when I reach 400 I’ll have all nine of my tails.” She replied her tails swaying. “Have you been around anyone with magic abilities before?” She asked as she offered him a slice of the fruit she’d picked up. “Here try this.” She said.


Though after she asked about his past masters the air immediately changed and she frowned slightly, and she could tell they weren’t good memories for him. Though she watched she didn’t say anything letting him choose if he wanted to talk himself as it was obvious though that no one had been all that kind to him. She wanted to comfort the male as his pain was evident but didn’t want to startle him as she waited calmly, her ears twitching as he cleared hit throat before replying. She frowned as he said how young he was when he became a slave and for a second her expression showed anger. Who would make a kid that young a slave, she found the idea sickening! Her tails swayed also in anger at the thought. “That’s awful.” She whispered before the metallic scent of blood reached her nose. Xenia reached over and forced his grip to loosen her sharply pointed nails carefully wedging in his grip. “Now, now, don’t go hurting yourself when I just got you all fixed up.” She said, her voice was gentle and playfully scolding him ever so lightly. “I didn’t mean to dig up bad memories for you, you don’t have to talk about your past any more if you don’t want to.” She replied not letting his fingers go until she was sure he wouldn’t harm himself any more. “And even though some days will be harder than others, and I can’t promise you’ll never get hurt, you are safe here, and I won’t punish you as long as you obey me and my rules. I find needless violence to be very boorish and pointless.” She told the male dragon.

Xenia frowned a moment as the male looked down asking her why she cared, though the question was whispered her fox like ears easily heard. She was quite as he added to his question calling himself less than dirt. “hummm, my full reasons for me caring so much for you is a secret for now. But for starters let’s just say you caught my interest. And I care because only those insecure in themselves treat others around them like filth. You may be a slave and yes, your job is to serve me unconditionally. However, if you aren’t at your best or are unhappy than it makes for a unpleasant home.” She replied her tails still swaying behind her as she spoke. “I made sure you were nearly fully healed because leaving you in such a poor state not only speaks poorly of me as your mistress; but for as long as you were that bad off there was no guarantee you wouldn’t reopen your wounds and passing out again.” She added. Her ears twitched as she could smell the salty scent of tears and the barely audible sniffs indicating he was crying. She nodded and let the male go when he said he would go clean up. “Don’t just bandage your hands. Take a good shower, wash your hair and body really well, you stink like that wrenched place.” Xenia said as Yusef held his recently cut hands under the faucet. She nodded when he said that he had no choice but to accept any punishment she gave if he messed up. “As long as you behave then you won’t have to worry about punishments here. Now go take your shower and then meet me in the living room downstairs, I’ll tell you the rules and if you are feeling up to it we can cook dinner and eat. We should both take today easy and tomorrow I want to do some shopping with you. I didn’t get to picking anything up for you today after all.” She said.

Xenia looked at the male as he apologized for her seeing him like that, she just gave a small nod. She watched as he stood up again bowing to her when she told him to shower. A few seconds later Xenia stood up and picked up the trey and the empty glass and carried it down placing the dishes in the kitchen sink before putting the trey in a cupboard before she walked to the living room to wait for Yusef to finish showering. She opened up a old diary she’d been reading, really it was her partner’s processor’s notes that the kitsune had found to be interesting as it detailed notes of other species he’d studied as well as teachings he’d learned as a kid that had long since phased out. Xenia remembered some of the events detailed but her memory was from a very different view point as she was still a wild kitsune in his time the thought to serve another as a familiar far from her thoughts in those times.


Xenia’s ears twitched as she heard foot steps on the floor boards above her indicating her pet was out of the shower. She finished the page she was on in the diary before looking up just as the boy entered the room. She smiled as she took in his completely different appearance. She smiled and gave a pleased nod when he mentioned his scent satisfying her. “You smell a lot more pleasant now. I hope you feel better now with all that filth gone as well. You definitely look much better no doubt.” She replied gesturing him to sit in a chair at a light angle from the loveseat she was relaxing on, her tails spread in different directions. When he sat down Xenia cleared her throat before starting to speak, not wasting much time. “I expect you to follow my rules at all times, whether you are in my presence or not. If you break any of them while I am away, I expect you to come clean when I return, if you don’t come clean when I return, or you try to hide your disobedience your punishment will be tripled. When you break a rule, I expect you to take any punishment without complaint or excuses to get out or lessen your punishment.
Rule 1. You are only to refer to me as ‘Mistress’ or in public ‘Mis’. If I want you to use any other term for a time, I will tell you and you are to use that term only while we are in that situation.
Rule 2. You are to obey me and carry out my orders without question.
Rule 3. You are to speak to me or any guest I invite in my home with nothing but respect, you will refer to guest as ‘Ma’am’ or as ‘sir’ unless told otherwise. I deal with plenty of high ranking and powerful aikashi and will not tolerate you disrespecting them or embarrassing me in their presence or otherwise in any way. ” She said pausing after the fourth rule to make sure her slave was following along before she continued.
“Rule 4. Is on a similar note to 3, on occasion I may hand you files or pieces of information to deal with. You are forbid from ever looking at such files for any reason and you must never allow anyone else to handle or look at them either.
Rule 5. While in public you may speak to others if spoken to directly however you are not to speak my name, and be vague with your answer if asked questions. If you are not spoken to directly you must wait for my permission to speak to others.
Rule 6. You are never to attempt escaping for any reason. For now, I don’t want you going outside without me however if you behave and earn my trust I may allow you access to the garden without me but that is something you will have to earn.
Those are your rules for now, I might add more or relax others as you prove yourself but I will tell you when I change them. Do you think you can remember those rules?” She finished her voice calm but also firm, her rules weren’t up for debate and Xenia needed to know her slave understood them all.

Xenia watched her slave as he nodded along as she told him her rules. When he said he already had her rules memorized she gave him a pleased smile and nodded. “Good.” She praised. Though as he said he had a question she raised a eyebrow but nodded her permission to ask. However, the male cut himself off, looking as if he were too scared to ask and instead said it was silly. Xenia sighed. Yusef, around here there aren’t stupid questions, if you are curious about something you may ask, as long as you are respectful and I don’t have any guest over. The worst I will do when you ask questions is say ‘no’, or ‘not now’. The only time I will get upset or punish you for asking something is if you keep bringing up a topic I already said no about, or if you ask something without requesting to and waiting for a go ahead from me when guest are here.” She said before standing up and stretching while yawning lazily before looking at the male. “From the question you started to ask, I am going to assume you were going to ask about flying to stretch your wings, no?” She asked pausing a moment. “I like to sit on the roof at night for a half hour or so, as long as you remain close, you may fly however it is not a tracker so if something happens to you I will not be able to help unless you are in sight.” She stated before adding “I will put a spell on you that will tell us both if you stray too far. You will get one warning sting just before you reach your max distance from me, after that it will turn to a constant pain that will become increasingly painful every second you take to return. I hope you heed it quickly though, because before a minute is up it will be powerful enough to take you down and then you’ll have to find your way back on foot. The woods around here are dense enough the moon’s light doesn’t penetrate the trees at all, and are confusing enough for most during the day let alone once the sun fades.” She warned. Such a spell as she described was surprisingly easy as she merely transferred a small fraction of her magic signature to the male and if he went too far for the connection it reacts which is why it becomes more painful, it didn’t actually get worse, but it feels like it does due to the intensity and it being a constant pain it created the illusion of getting worse (if only because of her power of suggestion it does).


Xenia nodded when he mentioned getting dinner started before then asking what she enjoyed. “I am not so picky as some, though I am not a fan of extremely ‘flavorful’ foods as humans I do like more flavor than some other creatures. I have a few cook books from different times in the kitchen with some of my favorite foods from them marked. But tonight, let’s make something together, we can pick some vegetables from the master’s garden and I believe there is some marinated chicken in the fridge we can put together with seasoned rice.” She said before brushing off his apology for his growling stomach. She was sure he was plenty hungry, who knows how poorly fed he was before, and all he’s had since she got him was a light snack, she’d have been surprised if the boy wasn’t hungry! With that the three tailed kitsune started to walk though the kitchen to the back door. “Master’s youngest apprentice should also be arriving any time too, but she doesn’t eat much and will be fine with a small bowl of rice.” She said, thinking out loud as she determined how much they would need to pick from the gardens.
