Redeemed
Popo hopped along a ridge of the field, looking out over the land below. All seemed well for now, but she knew she needed to always be alert. It was pretty peaceful this time of year. Food was plentiful and rabbits were happy. Many kits were growing up and so the parent buns had their hands full. But Popo knew it wouldn’t always be so serene and that she needed to be there to step in and calm rabbits down or help diffuse and deescalate situations before they got out of hand.

The warren that had started in these fields was growing. Popo furrowed her brow, she wasn’t sure how she felt about that warren. The Arbor seemed like a nice place, the rabbits were happy, though messy, and they pretty much kept the peace. However, Popo didn’t much care for their lackadaisical ways. Where was the3 structure? The rules? Every bunny seemed to just do whatever they wanted and someday that was sure to lead to disaster. Popo didn’t trust rabbits. So many of them just could not handle themselves. They needed rules and orders so they could function like good members of the world. Popo nodded her head firmly. That was why she had made it her job to travel around Hopscotch and make sure she was always available to step in when needed. Popo believed herself to be the only rabbit, as far as she knew, who was capable of handling themselves.

She squinted into the sun and noted all the different moving dots that were rabbits. Most of them seemed to be congregated near a large rock over by the Arbow warren. She could hear some faint squeals and screams coming form that direction, but she also could see a lot of small dots that must be kits so most likely it was coming from them. She twisted her mouth and frowned at the screaming as she debated whether she should go step in. She didn’t care for all that noise as it could be disruptive to the peace of the fields, but there also weren’t any other rabbits around… so it was probably fine. But yet, Popo felt this pull to involve herself in any situation. She couldn’t help it, she just had this innate sense that it was her duty to report and manage. Though… she may have been called nosey and bossy in the past so she was trying to moderate herself. It seemed there were other adult rabbits there… so everything was prooooobably fine… but…. Popo shook her head and turned toward the cluster at the rock. She better just go over and check it out anyway. Just to be safe. If no one needed her help then she would walk away. She could do that totally. She began hopping closer to the rock and the screams and shouting got louder the closer she got. It was also quite the mess she could see berry dye all over the place and all over the kits. Well maybe no one was in trouble but GOODNESS they were making an awful mess. And who was going to clean that up? Hm… she should probably make sure she was allowed into the warren first. That would be the right thing to do and Popo always did what was right. Okay, check in first, then deal with the mess second.
