Fall was coming, you could feel it in the air, the trees had yet to start turning colors but the knight had no doubt they would change soon. Already you could smell a fireplace here or there, and see smoke curling upward from a chimney, it was warming in a way. She liked winter, as cliche as some might call it, the knight of Polaris was a child of winter.

Heels clicked on the ground as she walked, stalking the night for any youma or Negaverse agent, she wasn’t looking for a fight but she also wasn’t the sort to back down from a fight either. Not any more.

She’d never been much for fighting in the past but she was now, she had a duty and a calling. Maybe it was because she’d transcended, maybe not, but it had started around then. She had a wonder to fight for and to rebuild and she wasn’t going to lose to the Negaverse and she wasn’t going to back peddle on her wonder, to let it fall back to ruin. It meant too much to her - it was precious to her.

Feeling a rock under her foot she stepped back, for a moment, before kicking it across the street. So far things seemed peaceful, though that didn’t mean a lot, there could and likely was some officer plotting something big to grab energy. Some events that would happen plus Fall, and Halloween, were coming. The holidays were never safe, for anyone.

“What will this year bring. I wonder.” Shaking her long dark hair the knight knew it wouldn’t be peaceful, it never would be. How bad it must be for children who wanted to go out and collect candy. How many weren’t allowed by ever protective parents, who were right to be protective? This city was a mess and it only seemed to be getting worse.

Slidr, on his part, had been sitting on a rooftop with one leg hanging over the side and the other bent so he could drape his arm casually over his knee.

The first time he had told Alexandre he had worked when in fact he actually had the evening off, guilt gnawed at him to the point that he ended up going home early under the guise that he was feeling sick. But now, as the strain on their relationship seemed to be holding on by only a few threads, the lies seemed to come much more easily.

It had been a while since he had felt comfortable in their shared room which is why he had moved some of his belongings into one of the spares a few months ago. It was done under the guise of wanting to pursue some hobbies that needed more space or a room further from the living room in case there were guests over so he could sleep.

For almost four years Aiden had been absolutely loyal to his boyfriend, never once had he considered cheating on him with someone else and at one point had even considered proposing despite knowing that marriage was not something Alex was interested in. However, as time went on, certain aspects of his personality remained unchanged; most notably his reserved, or seemingly asocial, behavior. It made adapting to new housemates difficult, even if they were related to Alexandre. This was Alex’s home and in the end, Aiden really had no say as to who took up residence in the extra rooms.

But what pushed him to the edge was the secret meetings Alex had. For the number of times he had come home to unfamiliar cars parked in the driveway only to peer in through a window to count anywhere between four to six people who he didn’t recognize. It made him feel uncomfortable as if he was being shunted aside for something he really didn’t understand. He had never been introduced to any of these people and because his boyfriend didn’t mention that there would be guests, Aiden chose to pretend to play ignorant and power up instead and wait until the people left.

Today was not that kind of day. Alex was home, on the couch with both dogs nearby watching some documentary, and here he was being a stubborn a*****e refusing to go home like some errant child running away from their problems.

Slidr had been so absorbed in his own thoughts that he had completely missed the aura of a knight until it was almost directly below him… no- the aura was stronger than a knight but not the same strength as the prince or princess he had witnessed fighting when they had entered the Dark Kingdom so many years ago to retrieve the Code.

Where the other didn’t say anything about the aura they felt Delphi wasn’t like that, not tonight anyway. Not one for being social, aside from the few she allowed close to her, the knight knew she needed to deal with others, however much she may dislike it.

Glancing upwards she called out. “You can come down you know.” She didn’t know just who it was but that was ok - they were a knight. It was worth talking to another knight and checking in on them, make sure they were ok and weren’t too new and clueless.

“The view is better up here,” he replied.

He motioned with one hand across the horizon which was only blocked by one building across the street and a few tall trees. Plus, going down there meant he’d have to move and right now he wasn’t really in the mood for pulling some fancy parkour moves to go down to street level.

“Care to join me up here instead? There’s plenty of room.” At least this way they wouldn’t have to wander around looking for someplace to sit.”

“Fine.” Shaking her head the dark-haired Russian moved to climb her way up to the roof and join the other. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen you out and about. Has it just been we’ve not run into each other or...you’ve not been busy?” He was still a page after all, so she assumed he’d been inactive for a while. So what was the reason he was out now?

“The view is nice but I’d rather be moving. I was patrolling the city.” To handle any youma she may happen upon, or officer.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 29, 2019 9:58 pm

Slidr would have rolled his eyes and told her to go ahead and keep patrolling but instead just gazed out at the distance.

Some preferred to keep moving while others watched and waited for something to come to them. Right now he was feeling more of the latter, play bait and let whoever happens upon him exhaust themselves trying to reach where he was at.

“My relationship with my boyfriend took precedence.” At least it did, until recently. “I took a pretty long break from my powered responsibilities hoping to repair something that was slowly breaking. But in the end-” his words trailed off and after a few minutes passed it was clear he had no intention of finishing that sentence.

Ahhh...so it had failed, or was failing still, but either way it was beyond repair. Perhaps it was good that she wasn’t interested in dating, she didn’t have to deal with such a thing. For a moment she considered saying something, but what? In the end she settled for reaching out with a hand to lay on his shoulder.

“Planning to come out more often now?” She questioned, looking over the other. “Trade in your title soon for that of squire?” Hopefully. Another squire, another knight, would be good. It wasn’t that anything big was happening, at least not right now, but it would always help in the end to have more of higher ranks and with experience.

“You’ll have to work on training.” Learning to fight, that would be a need, even if nothing big was happening in the city. “Not tonight though.” No, he didn’t seem likely to move from here, and she was ok with that. He could do as he wanted, she’d remain here for now as well.

“I need to move forward in some facet of my life… may as well be this.” Sounded kind of cynical when said like that but the way things were with Alexandre there really didn’t seem to be much of a future with him.

So many secrets and lies. They were tearing a rift between them and no matter how he tried, it seemed that this cavernous ravine was doomed to split wide open and be a permanent divide between them. Secret meetings to their house, coming home with injuries and the only explination that he’d receive was that he fell or some dumb s**t answer like that.It aggrivated him to no end and only served to make him worry but it was obvious to tell that Alexandre simply didn’t want him to know or be involved with whatever trouble he was in.

Aiden knew his boyfriend well enough that while he hated to tell lies, it seemed over time he had found a taste for partial truths.

“I feel like I’m being called to my wonder, but I’m not ready to go there yet.” He finally admitted after some time. There was supposedly a piece of code there he could locate but he worried that if he retreated to the place that he almost yearned to visit, he may never come back to Destiny City… to Alex.

“Go, when a wonder calls you should go. There may be a reason. I know mine calls often.” Now more than ever, now that she’d taken on it’s markings, she was happy to go and spend nights there and lose herself there for hours. Cleaning and walking, looking over the books she could not read. Her wonder was hers and it was precious to her.

“I’ll go with you if you want, if you worry about something.” She would always support a knight wanting to see their wonder...wanting to rebuild them. More than a fighter she was one who wished to rebuild their wonders and homes. Even if no life would be there for a long time, even if she could not live there, it was worth it. It always would be.

“We can go tonight and return tonight.”

“Not tonight…” Slidr shook his head and it felt as if something within him broke. It was as if he was punishing himself for lying to Alexandre. So much of him simply wanted to run away, to a place only he could go but doing so would be cowardly and he still had Riley to consider.

“If you feel called to go to yours we can visit your wonder. But until I figure out what I’m going to do with the situation at home I just can’t go to mine…” Doing so would mean that he has accepted that both he and Alexandre were officially over and that he had resigned himself to fighting this war as a knight of mercury and would be devoted to this life instead because at least in this regard he had control over his life and growth as he worked towards becoming a Knight, perhaps even transcended like Delphi.

“We can go to mine, you’re dressed for it. Were you a knight of a warmer place I’d not bring you - you might freeze.” Like cosmos or venus knight, Uranus as well. They were simply not dressed for it.

“When you are ready we’ll go to yours.” And he could answer it’s call then, see why he felt the call to go. There was some reason it wanted him to return. Even if it was because he’d simply never gone before it had been away for far too long, which seemed to be the case. “You think you can handle the cold of Polaris?” She asked with something of a smile, or maybe some sort of smirk.

“I should be fine,” Slidr stood up and pulled his fur trimmed hood over his head.

Despite how thin his uniform looked, it was made to withstand the temperatures of his own frigid wonder. A river of solid eyes where not even the currents flowed beneath it; or perhaps he simply didn’t dig far enough the last time he had gone. He had meant to return with an ice pick or something else to use to see if he could crack the surface as his weapon, although it appeared sharp at one end, really didn’t hold up against the frozen surface of his wonder. Hell, the damn thing couldn’t even block a spear as it descended upon him.

Slidr touched the scar that cut across his eyebrow in remembrance of when the General nearly severed him in two. Even today he could recall the sound of his weapon shattering under the petite mans surprising strength.

“Ok, that’s good.” Because he would need the protection that other knights didn’t have, for her wonder was as cold as could be. Although there was that one fountain of warm water, and offering to those who visited but were not meant for the cold.

“Let’s go then.” Offering a hand to him as she stood and stretched. “It is, for most, boring I’m sure. Buildings filled with books and unused court rooms. But it is impressive to see.” To be inside of and walk the halls, to wander the shelves of books. The place was a sight to see. She just wished it was as it once had been - filled with people. She wished to see people milling about, even if she wasn’t a people person, she wished it could thrive once more.

He accepted her offered hand, drew in a deep breath and then exhaled slowly. It has been years since he was last teleported anywhere, a sensation that he likely wouldn’t forget in this lifetime or the next but still something he had to prepare himself both mentally and physically.

When ready, Slidr nodded his head so she could speak the ritual known to every knight.

Nodding her own head the knight didn’t have too much trouble focusing on her wonder, on its call, and bringing them there. The change in temperature was drastic and harsh, sudden, and the wind breeze was biting. There was no snow falling, thankfully, but the ground was covered in slowly melting snow. Cobbled stones under there feet made up the square which was, on three sides, surrounded by buildings.

“We’re here.” She spoke softly, glad to be on her own wonder. It was calming and peaceful, although cold. “Side bigger buildings are courthouses. The two round ones, in the corners, those are libraries.” She said motioning to the buildings as she spoke about them.
