Warren Redeemed
Redeemed
Maze hopped to the main entrance of Bramblefell and looked out into the woods. It was just before dusk and she knew she didn’t have too much light left but she was feeling antsy. Her army was small and she needed recruits. Until she was able to lead enough rabbits, she didn’t have much to do and maze greatly disliked not being busy. She decided it would be a good idea to look around the Tanglewood a bit, maybe get some ideas for good training exercises for her army, as well as scope out what may be lurking around the warren.

She left the entrance and headed off in a direction she hadn’t been yet. She, Uzo, and King Joxer had seen much of the Tanglewood as they had searched for the place they now called Bramblefell. She looked back on the patch as she got farther away and smiled, her king really had chosen a perfect spot. However, once the trio had decided on the placement for Bramblefell, exploration had come to a halt as they readied the warren with burrows and protections. She was curious as to what else there might be. After all Tanglewood was a huge place and dense with trees and other brush. It was this very reason King Joxer ahd wanted to begin his warren here. It was easy to defend, hard to penetrate, and full of a rich variety of food. However this also made it mysterious. It was hard to know what you might encounter out here in the woods. Maze smirked as she hopped about, examining every patch of dirt or broken twig of interest. This is of course what made her army so important. It was her duty to protect Bramblefell from whatever may be lurking in the deep wood, or whatever may come investigating from somewhere else.

She came to a clearing between some trees and made a note to add them to her map. This would be an excellent spot for a training on finding cover. There were plenty of trees on the outskirts, anything could be hiding behind and in them and it will be important for her soldiers to know how to spot an enemy, as well as use these positions for themselves to conceal their own motives and formations.

It wasn’t long before she came to another interesting area. A large rock, three or four times her own height, jutted out from the soil and ran up against a tree. This would be a great spot for practicing ambushes, on either side. It would be important for her soldiers to know how to ambush, as well as what to do when they were ambushed. She investigated the rock closer and found that it would be just possible to hop up onto it, using the tree as a backboard to gain purchase and height. She experimented with it herself and was pleased at the view this afforded her from atop the rock. Yes, this would be an excellent training ground. She made another mental not of its position to add to her map before taking note of the setting sun and making her way back to Bramblefell, her thoughts churning with battle strategies and tactics.
