It was all over... Wasn’t it? ‘Mali had said his goodbye and left the hallway without much thought as to where he was going. The first friend he had made, gone due to his own stubbornness.
And it had hurt. His stomach was in knots, and his head seemed to throb with a pressure he knew came from gritting his teeth too hard.
He shouldn’t be as angry as he was now, after all, he was the one who ended it. And it was ‘Mali’s own self who decided enough was enough, and that he was done pretending to be something he very clearly wasn’t.
Lines in the ground shouldn’t have to be made with between friends. Not everything needed to be utterly defined. Not every single feeling needed an explanation. It was a game he was far too done playing with his friend, and cutting the ties that bound them came far easier than trying to carefully wrap each word neatly.
Gods, was he tired of all this.
Yet here he was, stuck in the Negaverse because he was too weak to teleport himself out. And still easily found had anyone wanted to search for him.
A twist here, a turn there, and then finally he found himself closing the door behind him, locking himself in a small closet that smelled of somewhat less sickeningly sweet as before coffee. It took a moment, but he finally recognized exactly where he was, and pressed his back against the locked door to slide down and pulls his knees to his chest.
He wouldn’t cry, there was no point in it. The pain wasn’t nearly as bad as that time when he felt truly betrayed... ‘Mali needed only a moment.
Just a little while longer, and everything would be better.

Chip had flushed the Coffee Fabricator of premade coffee grounds, having determined them to be vastly inferior to grinding things on site. Not to mention way less fun to watch. No destruction? Hardly even seemed worthwhile. But it was worth testing, just in case it was great. That said, Chip was busy with a different project...His Catted Battle Drone, which still had many kinks to work out, so he was half-body deep in some components, pawing at connections not quite working as he wanted them to when the door to his "workshop" opened, and closed again. It was a delicate procedure, so he didn't stop right away to see what was going on. His hindpaws flailed in the air a little, and there was a soft bzzzZAP sound before he finally pulled himself out, a tiny tendril of smoke snaking up from a spot on his hat as he turned to see who came to visit. "Ah! Zubymal!" he declared cheerfully, lightly padding over to have a look at the slumped senshi. He still loomed massively over Chip, but being so crumpled up made him seem much smaller... "What brings you to my," the saucer-shaped machine suddenly made a loud WHAM noise, and a spinning disk shot out in an arc, landing with a rattle and a thump a few feet away to roll noisily to a stop a few seconds later. Chip waited quietly while the racket subsided before finishing, as if nothing had happened, "...fine workshop today?"

Perhaps he had been a little blind when he suddenly came into that familiar closet. He hadn't noticed the whirling cogs, or the sounds of machinery grinding and clanking. Mali's mind had been far too occupied with the realization of what he had just done.
He wasn't sad over it... No, it was a much more complicated feeling than simple sadness. Frustration, irritation, anguish, but also another lighter feeling. Like perhaps it was always meant to be this way, and now that it had, it was one less burden to worry about.
It was hard to brood over any of those thoughts when he suddenly came face to face with something so small and precious... And apparently accident prone.
It was even harder to not chuckle at the sudden destruction of the machine and the nonchalant the kitten handled it.
"I am not sure..." Mali confessed, scooping up the kitten and pulling him into his arms without asking if he could. "I must have come here just naturally. Perhaps it's because it's the only room I know of that people don't typically go into all the time, and that it has a lock."

Chip nodded thoughtfully at that. "And," he said with a big, kitty grin, "I don't have a key to it, either! Makes everything more fun." There was an extra little ffffPOW from Chip's odd saucer. Chip ignored it, as the sound subsided quickly, though his ears did flick at the sound. He climbed up onto Mali's knee and balanced there. "Are you okay, Mr. Zubymal? You look a little ill." He wasn't the best at reading human emotions, so, naturally thought 'unhappy' was 'sick'. At least, it was natural to him.

"You don't... How strange. I thought this was your room.. Perhaps I was mistaken and someone else has a key." Then again, from what he knew about this world, things were ancient, and there was no real telling what was what, what was new, and what was here far before he was born.
None of it really mattered though.
"No, no, I'm not ill just... Off, I suppose. It seems like it's the wrong word to describe what I feel as just sad." 'Mali reached up and gently stroked the ears of the little thing, finding it only natural to smile at him, even if that smile didn't reach his eyes. "I gave that gift you made to Wolframite. He loved it, just so you know. But we had a fight, and I don't think we'll be friends again..."

"A fight?" Chip asked, even as he rubbed his head gently against the petting. "That's too bad...What happened?" He imagined a battle of epic proportions suddenly, and added, "I hope you didn't break anything when you were fighting!" Possibly the wrong kind of fighting he was imagining. Mercifully, nothing else made any sort of sudden noise behind him just then, though a single puff of white, odorless smoke puffed out of his saucer, and dissipated quickly.

"No, no, just a fight with words. Those tend to be the worst kind, I fear." They could be shot out faster than one could think and do much longer lasting damage.
"... I think I realized that what I wanted from him, he didn't want to give. And that made me angry. I don't think... It is not proper to go into too much detail but I'm unsure how we'll still be friends after all of this. After all, I'm tired, Little Chip. I'm tired of feeling like I need to pretend to care about alot of things when I simply do not." To comfort himself, he pulled the kitten closer to his face and gave his little head a rub with his own.
"Humans are awful creatures. You should be happy you are not one of us, and you can spend your days tinkering away without a care in the world."

He didn't actually do it often, but Chip purred a little at the head rubbing. He let the senshi talk for a little while before saying anything. The little kitten was listening, although admittedly, he was focusing a fair bit on the head rub, and rubbed his head back in appreciatively. "Humans aren't so bad," he replied after a bit. "I mean, you make such delightful things when you try! And there's so many of you...I'll bet there are others you'll get along with better." Big Fluff seemed to Chip a fairly good/useful being. He existed, and would do as he asked without much trouble. But, even he knew his requirements for what made a human "good" and "useful" were pretty basic compared with how they interacted with one another. And that it was subjective. Not everybody needed minions for building stuff.

"That's just it, little one. We're not so bad, but still bad. Still awful at communicating and even worse at making and keeping friends. Or perhaps that's just me... Think of it this way, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a flaw in my code that keeps me from functioning properly..." Words he never expected to come from him spewed from his mouth, and it made him all the mor miserable. Him, Landry, flawed. It seemed so unheard of.
And yet it had to be so. Otherwise he wouldn't have fought with Wolframite all the time... Or be here in a sad pile of woe being comforted by a kitten.
"I don't think you've very helpful at talking about these human problems but... you are very cute, and I believe that helps in it's own way."

"Maybe not," Chip agreed. "I've never seen the code that runs people..." He wasn't sure such a thing existed, although he was entertaining the possibility, now that it was mentioned. For the moment, though, he was content to be a cute little fluff ball for Zuby, since it meant he got very nice head rubs, and would probably be deserving of a favor later. The purring suggested he might forget to ask for a favor, though.

”It’s certainly complicated, and not nearly as fun as these interesting contraptions you come up with.” Chip certainly wasn’t the person to talk to over all of these feelings that were swirling inside of him. His company was just a bandaid covering a wound that clearly needed stitches.
It worked for now. Especially with that sweet little purr that came from the kitten.
“I don’t think I desire being sad like this anymore. Do you perhaps like... Churros, chip? I think some sweets, perhaps some ice cream, may mend my aching heart, and I would certainly enjoy the company.”

"I've never tried a churro before," Chip replied, not moving away at all. "I will happily try some... for science." The little kitten could tell something was not good with his human visitor, but he hadn't the foggiest idea how to deal with it, so he just did what he did best: Remained cute, and plotted a new machine, though it was a bit foggy at the moment.

”I believe you’ll like them. They are as sweet as you are.” Feeling a little lighter than before, ‘Mali stood up, taking the kitten in the crook of his arm.
“Ah yes, Science. The perfect reason for indulging in sweets that are certainly not very good for you at all. And a perfect distraction for my muddled mind. Let us be off then. This will be one experiment that I’m most certain you’ll enjoy.” He could ignore all the heartbreak for now. All of that aching could be drowned out by copious amounts of sugar and sweet, innocent company.
Yes, sugar could temporarily fix all things.

Chip had no objections to being lifted into the air, and once they were moving, he wriggled around a bit to get himself comfortably situated. As always, his very small size helped immensely with remaining comfortable. "I hope it doesn't taste like cats, though," Chip said, maybe ever so slightly serious. "That wouldn't be too good." He shook his head. "But I'll believe you!" His tail flicked around lightly, brushing against the man. "I'm sure it'll be good." Soon, he would know the taste of churro and ice cream together...and he would certainly enjoy it!
