Before, her head had been in the clouds. Colorful as the Elves could be, their sometimes waspish whispers had been hurtful to hear, even when Sundew wasn't the target. She had preferred as a pup to...well, if not forget what she heard (it was never safe to), at least bury it with something else. Her imagination had been rich in that regard, especially with all the history she had wheedled out of chroniclers. Legends were always better than rumors. Even as the Elves had traveled, Sundew had tried not to pay too much attention to conversations not involving her directly--and that had been both easy (so much to consider, so much time meditating and sorting through possible visions, so much energy spent walking and hunting and talking) and difficult (living with the Elves by definition meant hearing talk wherever you went).

She had thought that nestling into their new home might put a stop to such chatter, if for a moment. Then again, Sundew was still naive.

Several elves had gossiped as she gardened that morning, and it had troubled her all day--not that Shaded Amaryllis would have done something so dreadful to her own child, but that another could ever think so. But it had been true that she had been completely absent as of late...In the past, Sundew would have left her be but watched worriedly from afar. That policy didn't feel right anymore. She had a duty that was more important than ever now. That and, well, if she didn't tend to one in need, what good was she really?

Still, the Terran was anxious as she approached the chronicler's den like it was a lion's. As much as Sundew opened herself and her space to others (and reaped the benefits and consequences therein), she didn't want to assume Amaryllis' preferences. "Chronicler?" she asked. "Chronicler Amaryllis, this is Sundew. May I visit?"

Amaryllis lay hunched in her den, feverishly muttering to herself, though the words sounded muffled in a strange way, and occasionally her head would jolt or twist in an odd direction. She was so enthralled in... whatever it was she was doing she didn't sense Terran Sundew until she spoke, startling the Chronicler and causing her to jump from her crouched position with hackles raised for but a moment before she realized who had interrupted her concentration. "M-my apologies, Terran Sundew," she stood and turned quickly, sitting between the seer and what occupied her time.

"Of course you may visit, Terran, you are always welcome to join us," her gaze briefly flicked behind her before resting on the purple eyes gazing back at her. "Was there something I could assist you in finding, Terran? Perhaps an old legend or...?" she bowed her head with respect to her Terran. She shifted on her paws awaiting an answer from the seer.

It wasn't that she was impatient, no. She just had more... important things on her mind that seemed to be occupying more and more of her thoughts as she waited on the seer to speak.

Us?

"Though I do miss your stories, I might hope to assist you for once," Sundew said gently before ducking in. "I'm afraid I had neglected you while we were traveling...Will you forgive me and let me sit a while with you? I want to know how you are doing."

She skittered backwards a little as Sundew made her way into the den, scattering some leaves and cursing to herself silently as she did. "Oh, lovely Terran, I am unsure of how you could assist me in these moments I'm a bit..." she glanced quickly around her den, almost suspiciously, as if she were making sure something was out of sight, "pre-occupied since... the move." The last words fell from her mouth stiffly. She knew that wasn't what she had wanted to say and was sure Sundew would catch on as well, though there was little to be done at that point.

She shook her head slowly, her eyes raised to Sundew as her head was lightly bowed, "I will be honest with you, Terran, I am not well. My loss has hung heavy over my head since awaking in the healers' care. I have heard some of the words being spoken behind my back but," a heavy sigh escaped her lips, "I've had a... project of sorts to keep myself occupied where I can..."

"How are you, my dear Terran?" she smiled, attempting to shift the attention away from herself and her.... project.

Sundew hesitated the moment Shaded Amaryllis began to scoot back, but other than laying her paw back down mid-step she tried to act like the scurrying had been noticed. Concern grew in her nonetheless.

"There's something to be said about having a den again," she said. "And to see everyone find their own as well. I saw this place in a vision, but I could have never dreamed just how beautiful it all was..." Even just thinking about the collective of joy and relief across the Elves' faces was enough to make her eyes sting. But now wasn't the time.

"Would you like some help with the project?" Sundew asked hopefully. "Anything at all. I would do even the smallest thing if it might ease your pain, Chronicler Amaryllis. We have all suffered, but the burden does not have to be carried alone."
