xxxxxHawkstep moved through the forest underbrush as swiftly as she could, Sky High had informed of a potentially fun new place to explore. He'd described it as a 'big dark hole' which could mean... well anything as far as Hawk was concerned. Could it be a cavern? Or perhaps a whole that opened into the ground and swallowed all that was around it? Or maybe it was just an overly large warren den he'd mistaken for somewhere to explore, which did happen on occasion.
xxxxxHer paws flew effortlessly over twigs and roots keeping an eye on her companion's shadow coursing dutifully across the ground ahead of her. She kept an ear out for movement around her but it wasn't her focus, it had been a while since she had found anything of value to trade with the explorer, Everquest, and she was itching to find something new to give her. Sky High cawed down to her, signalling they were getting closer to their target and Hawkstep let out a tiny howl in excitement. Oh, what treasure would await her?!

xxxxxOceanic Ruins stretched and yawned, greeting the sunrise as she usually did and crawled out of her den. Well, she called it a den. She'd dug out under a partial hole out of the ground under a stump and called that pile of leaves and dirt and twigs home, for now at least. She was a nomad, moving from territory to territory to find goodies to trade for food as hunting animals wasn't her strongest asset... but finding shinies and gems? That she excelled at.
xxxxxAs the sun rose over the mountains to the east light began to trickle through the dense foliage she'd homed herself under illuminating her way as she began her daily exploration. You can't find goodies without hard work, you know. The sound of pawsteps crashing through the foliage caught her attention briefly but she paid it no mind, she wasn't a threat to others, being on the slightly smaller side, and made an effort to show respect to others to avoid conflict. She sniffed the breeze quickly and started out into the forest keeping a keen eye out for treasures.

xxxxxxHawkstep continued following her companion as he began to lower himself in a controlled descent near their target. Hawk slowed to a stop as she reached his side, nosing him lightly, "Beautiful work my dear Eyes-in-the-Sky," she smiled at him, "This looks like an exceptional place to find treasures."
xxxxxxSky High nodded, closing his eyes and leaning into the nosing as his feathers puffed up in pride at his job well done. "As always, of course," he croaked at her, eliciting an eyeroll from Hawk. He didn't notice, or if he did he feigned ignorance it as he always did, but chuckled all the same at the reaction he'd caused. Sky High was not a humble bird and he liked it that way. After all, what great treasure scout would be?
xxxxx"Yes of course," she let a small chuckle escape her throat. She turned from the crow to the large dark hole before her. It hadn't been any of the things she'd expected really. It seemed to have once been covered with a tree but it was weirdly flat, like no tree she'd seen. The planks of wood had rotted away with age, causing the dark hole into the ground the Sky had initially reported on. To one side of the hole, attached to the flat-tree was a large hoop of rusted metal. She tilted her head, wondering why such a decoration had been attached to this flat-tree.
xxxxx She lowered herself to the ground trying to ignore the pungent smell of rotting wood and stuck her head into the dark. After a moment her eyes adjusted slightly and she noticed a path down into the dark had already been made! Had she been the last to find this potential treasure trove? She frowned as she lifted herself back up and looked back to Sky, "Someone may have beaten us to this one, Sky. There's a path to the bottom already... it looks weird though as if a wolf had dug them out of the rocks themselves... unless," her voice trailed off as she thought. Could this be a human relic? She'd heard of them from Everquest but had yet to see one in her travels, not that she'd been looking very hard for them.
