Every season, the members of the Bough of Song vote on the best story to come back from the lands beyond, and that rabbit is known as the season's honored. Their thoughts and opinions on things carry great weight for that season, and those who win multiple seasons throughout their lifetime are revered even into their twilight age.
This adventurous young doe is last season's honored - but why? Was it her grand adventures, or her way with words and theatrics? Is it her first time, or her fifth? That's for you to decide, and, in BoS tradition, the best story will win!
Rules One entry/story per person. Anyone except Variable Nonsense may enter, including any and all staff. No discouraging other users here or on Discord. You are not required to use the story you write, but the rabbit is required to be a member of the Bough of Song. You must stay within the word count constraints listed on the entry form! Clear and concise - I have to read them all! ;p
The contest begins now and ends Sept. 29th @ 23:59 CDT.

Stay a while, and listen. Username: One Little Jay Rabbit's name: Windswept Rabbit's personality: This girl is drama to the max a HUGE embelisher and lover of "big fish" stories. Shes mot a liar as her stories always have some basis in truth, but she believes even the best stories could use a little help.
This rabbit's story:Slaying the Sky beast So there I was just minding my own business collecting flowers in meadowbrook when all of a sudden a cry that shook the ground rang out across the field. Just like that the sky darkened and the sun was blocked out, it got so cold I could see my breath in front of me. Looking up that's when I saw it, The sky beast. (At this point she waved her arms dramatically above her). It was easily 20... no 50 fifty feet and had wings black as night and a tail stained with the blood of its victims. I knew that I had to do something about it. I couldn't let another bunny be taken by the great sky beast. So I stood my ground as their claws as sharp as razors dove down toward me. With my paw I flung a rock I had been keeping for just the occasion and smacked the sky beast right out of the sky. Just like that the mighty beast had fallen never again would it bother any bunny kind.
The True story: (because shes an embellisher) She was in the feild and an average common red tailed hawk swooped down. Frightened she turned tail to run and kicked up a rock from underneath her in her haste. It happened to strike the hawk and knock it down. She ran away before she could see if it had died. (Spoiler it did not)

Stay a while, and listen. Username: PZMJNP Rabbit's name: Lillamoon Rabbit's personality: Born a wild child that was groomed to be ladylike but quickly turned into a crazy adventurer instead. You can never be sure what you're going to get with this gal. She definitely has some authority issues and a penchant for recklessness though. This rabbit's story: She chanced upon two kits who had run off to have their own 'wild adventure' after having their heads too filled with stories. They decided they were big and strong enough to swim in Bubble Up and were wrong, they were smart enough to bring floating sticks with them for aid but ended up going too far out. When they tried to kick their way back they kicked in the wrong direction and just went even further out and started panicking. Long story short is Lillamoon saved them but in her dramatized retelling of the story it wasn't chance-she purposefully tracked them down, the sticks broke, and she had to literally dive down and drag them out on her back. In actuality the kits held on to the same stick and she swam back while biting it to drag it along. The kits confirmed the base legitimacy of the story though and so Lillamoon received lots of praise because who doesn't love a good rescue story?
Stay a while, and listen. Username: Einna Firekeeper Rabbit's name: Red Mist Rabbit's personality: Mist is a flashy and charismatic bun. She loves to draw in a crowd and hold their attention. Her drive to be noticed and appreciated leads her on many adventures in order to get as much material for grand, attention-grabbing, stories as possible.
This rabbit's story: Mist loves getting to tote around the honored title. This is the fourth time she has received such, and every time it makes her feel like the most special and noticed rabbit around, which of course she just LOVES. The tale that granted her this latest honored title was grand indeed! She remembers fondly the way all eyes, rapt and wide, were focused solely on her as she regaled the warren with her colorful adventures through Meadowsweet. The flowers had been in full bloom and were even higher than her head! She had stood up on her tippy toes and gasped with her paw held up to her ears to indicate their height, which the little kits had loved. She had gone on to describe running into a very aggressive bumble bee that did not appreciate her sticking her nose in its’ flower. At this she had mimed sniffing deeply and then made a deep buzzing sound with her tongue as she pretended to be chased all around by the flying insect. Oh how the crowd had roared with laughter at that! She grinned as she thought back on her dramatic flop to the ground, when her audience had gasped as they thought she had been stung, before she sprang up again victoriously exclaiming how she had tricked the bee! She couldn’t wait to see what adventures she would get to act out next year.

Congratulations! The rabbits in the Bough definitely appreciate a good laugh and a good bit of drama, and they look forward to seeing Red Mist perform her future antics for them!
