- The Council
• Head Elder (1) - (Locked) The Eldest member of the Council and final say in most matters. Must be fair and just with the betterment of the whole in mind. At present, Beechbone holds this rank and cannot be challenged.
• Elders (4) - (Locked) Pack leaders. All work in favor of the pack as-a-whole, but some may (unofficially) align their support with specific aspects of the pack and its members. They handle disputes and are officiators of life-mating ceremonies; although those have been sparse these days. At present, Fern Valley, Hazel Lock, Creeping Bramble, and Evenstar hold this rank and cannot be challenged.
xxxxx▶ Evenstar oversees the Earthbound along side the TBD Terran, lending a hand to the Chroniclers when necessary.
xxxxx▶ Creeping Bramble works closely with the Chroniclers and aids with the Earthbound activities.
xxxxx▶ Fern Valley oversees The Elven Army along side the Marshals.
xxxxx▶ Hazel Lock oversees general outsider activity and aids in the Elven Armies activities.
xxxxx▶ Beechbone oversees the Forager's, but works as closely as he can with all ranks.
• Chroniclers (5) - (limited-rp requirement) For quite some time this rank was only held by Elven born who kept track of the pack's history, tradition, and could recount such information from memory. Now-a-day, there is whisper that Wildlings, as well as outsiders, might be eligible to hold this rank. They tend to be a part of every official gathering, ceremony, and trial. Are also rather 'in the know' of most rumors. At this time, Shaded Amaryllis and Roachspeak hold this rank and cannot be challenged. There are still three other slots available!
---
- The Overseers
• The Speaker (Seer) - (Locked) Figurehead of the Terrans. This individual is generally elevated by their sisters and the Council due to the respect and notoriety of their actions. Now, it is just the natural progression of things... the longest standing Elven Terran assumes the role. But they are more than just heirs, and despite every attempt to alleviate their burdens; The Speaker's role is to carry a part of the packs weight upon their shoulders. They are the ones who listen and interpret the earth's subtle communications, whether it's through physical evidence or through visions. She must be able to piece together a larger picture from seemingly disparate sources - hunters' reports, meetings with the high council or laymen, changes in the weather or wildlife -- along with helping manage the different circles to cooperate and communicate. At present, Sundew Scion holds this rank and cannot be challenged.
xxxxxOversees: Terran, Seer-blooded males, Links
• Marshals (2) - (Locked) The superiors and overseers of The Elven Army. These individuals delegate tasks to the Generals directly, are in constant communication with said individuals, and relay the needs of the army with the Council. They are respected members of the pack and usually Elven born. They involve themselves in the activities of the military force as often or as little as they desire, but are known for their incredible feats during The Final Stand. At present, Fell Fire and Shivering Aspen fill these ranks and cannot be challenged.
xxxxxOversees: Elven Army
• Wildling Ambassador (1) - (Locked) The Wildling figurehead representing all wildlife within The Murkwood Court. They are welcomed in on most Council meetings, can have direct access to the Elders and the Elven-restricted areas, and are required to greet and inform the wildlife upon joining The Court’s ranks. They keep the wildlife safe and in check, and must be a fair and just individual with confidence to stand before, and along-side, these dire wolves. At present, no individual holds this rank! More info to come!
xxxxxOversees: Wildlings
• Court Denmother (1) - (Locked) First and foremost, the Court Denmother is a teacher. They are honesty, patient, tolerant, and receptive, yet brave enough to push boundaries when necessary; this, in order to see positive growth (and potential change) in the future generations of Elves. But this is not to say they dismiss culture and tradition altogether. Instead, Court Denmother's are trusted to remain dedicated to the appropriate delegation of The Court's history, with a passion for the preservation of it. Beyond that, they are the face of the Court Mentors, responsible for communicating concerns directly to the Council. They work closely with the Chroniclers, gathering pertinent information to share with the other Mentors. At present, this role has been filled by Petals Open to the Moon, and cannot be challenged.
xxxxxOversees: Court Mentors
-History: Mentors managed themselves prior to The Fall, gathering information based on experience while working with Chroniclers to fill in any of the gaps. Life for The Murkwood Court has changed substantially, however, with Overseers implemented to help mitigate stress upon the Council. The Court Denmother’s position was created by Beechbone and given to Petals Open to the Moon, his mate, which raises questions that few are willing to ask of him directly.
---
- The Elven Army
• Generals (2) - (limited-rp requirement) These Elven born survivors oversee the soldiers and wardens of the pack. They are excellent communicators, quick thinkers, and action-oriented, with leadership qualities that are unmatched. Their primary duties are to ensure that all ranks are pulling their weight, to reprimand minor infractions when necessary, and to ready the forces for battle. They should only approach their superiors when an issue must be escalated and cannot be handled on their own. They are required to inspect every individual under their charge for merit as well as to ensure that no Troll manages to sneak their way in. They are at present keeping the Rogue population in check as well, as most are forced to fall under their umbrella
xxxxxOversee: Soldiers & Wardens
• Soldiers - (unlimited) Any beast strong enough to fight and willing to protect the pack at all cost. These individuals are heavily informed as to what a Troll is and, moreover, what to look for when out and about or in combat. Frequently, soldiers are seen sparing and training within the grounds designated, tirelessly readying themselves for the inevitable war to come. Between the two military ranks, the soldier has the most expected of them.
• Wardens - (unlimited) Any beast willing to guard and protect the pack grounds at all times. The best Wardens are stealthy and quick, but having strength to fend off an enemy is never a trait to overlook. Although Soldiers get the most flack from their superiors, Wardens carry the heaviest burden of ensuring that the territory is protected from unwanted advances. They often work closely with Scouts to relay information quickly from beyond the valley into its heart. These individuals also work in rotation, so there are always members on the look out.
• Recruiter/Scout (7) - (limited) This rank has recently been opened to all beasts willing to find and recruit outsiders, as well as search for signs of Troll activity too close to home. Due to this rank having the freedom to roam the wilds beyond the valley, individuals must be stealthy enough to avoid unsavory confrontations but amicable enough so as to attract potential members. Some are known to work in tandem with the Wardens of the pack, sending word from the outside without having to trek through the valley themselves. Most Scouts are rarely seen, for they are always out on the hunt.
---
- The Earthbound
• Terran (Seer) (unlimited) The grounded, the connected. Once upon a time, they kept track of the lands overall health, looking into the past or future to determine suitable hunting times, where to send hunting parties, and when to avoid outings. Now-a-day, what with the influx of outsider blood, the role of the Terran is muddied. Some are healers, true to their roots, others are not. Still, they are all highly skilled and highly respected, some even feared. The Elves have been known to envy their existence in the past, but most have come to accept them as powerful aids gifted by nature itself...
• Links (unlimited) A rumor turned reality, these Wildlings, or 'Links', have been blessed with Terran blood and are considered quite sacred and rare. The range of their abilities is still being uncovered, but clearly Terran and Links (and, perhaps, the odd Terran-blooded male!) benefit the most when they are bonded together. Whispers speak of a shared 'sight' between the two, rumored after one of the newer rogue Terran's joined rank, and this has sparked interest in the higher-ups. The Council has requested that these individuals be separated into two 'factions' which will directly relate to how they can benefit the pack as a whole. While most tasks they undertake are given by their bonded Terran, in times of great need they act as an extended sight for the pack and can be asked to travel great distances, leading parties in search of rare items, herbs, enemy/ally movements, world events, etc.
xxxxx⊕ Earth Links are Wildlings who can only see by way of the ground. Bears, hares, raccoons, deers, pumas, and jackalopes are all categorized under this branch.
xxxxx🜁 Sky Links are Wildlings who can keep watch up from above. Often times, they are the individuals most responsible for tracking weather patterns and relaying when storms are on the horizon. Crows, vultures, and perytons all fall under this branch.
• Healers (unlimited) Any beast with the knowledge of medicinal herbs willing to mend minor to severe wounds. These individuals are well versed in all plant life, from the most beneficial to the deadliest, and are constantly scouring the valley for new ingredients to test. Some are tasked with finding poisons and their cures, and those healers are also required to tend to the silkworm nursery; the only known deterrent to the slumber caused by flowers at their entryway. A healer or two is often sent to the training grounds to look after the bruised and battered Soldiers, ready to seal up a wound quickly so fighters can quickly step back into the fray. And still, others are left to tend to the gardens of the valley, gathering seeds and growing the plants that might eventually lend to the aid of their friends, or the demise of their enemies.
• Court Mentors (unlimited) More than just your average nanny, the Court Mentors are teachers, designed to guide and help prepare the pack's youth for their futures. They are required to know enough about everything, so as to best inform, with each Mentor having their own method of instruction and specialties therein. Parents may request the tutelage of a specific Mentor, or request that several have a hand in their child's rearing, to remove some of the strain from their own duties. Mentors are trusted members of the pack, must have the patience and flexibility to work with young, developing minds, but come in all shapes and colors...
-Extra: Court Mentors are permitted to take up a Hunter, a Harvester, or an Earthweaver rank in addition to being Mentors. This will help supplement their days when not in caring for children. (Please state which of these you would like when applying for Court Mentor)
-History: Once upon a time Mentors were assigned only to the royals, predominantly seen as 'parent replacements' while their Lords and Ladies and Kings and Queens all went about their usual 'duties'. Elves would often be appointed the role and serve in it until their death, at which point another would be hand-picked to take their place. Mentors became obsolete under the weight of Troll tyranny, many of the originals killed in the attack. Chroniclers once helped shape the pack as a whole, with their stories and knack for recollection, but that was when there were many... two can only do so much on their own. So now, as the Elves settle into the New Era and are finding themselves overwhelmed with young, impressionable faces all around, there is a need for teachers once more.
• Grave Keeper (1) (Locked) Established by the Chronicler Roachspeak, this role is, as it implies, one where graves are maintained. Although no Elves nor outsiders alike have fallen since their great escape, Roachspeak has taken it upon himself to not only create a site for mourning, but to upkeep it as well. His primary duty as Chronicler was to keep track of the dead, so this new obsession comes effortlessly. Grave Keepers dig the graves, protect the space, bury the dead. They work along side their Grave Hands to see that the memorial is respected and upheld, and that all lives are remembered.

- The Foragers
• Hunters (unlimited) Any beast willing to provide for the pack. This was once strictly in favor of the wolves diet but has since opened up to a variety of plant life, seeds, berries, and any other food source required by pack members. The majority of these individuals work in groups, however with the introduction of Wildlings, the different species tend to partner up with their own kind.
• Harvesters (unlimited) Any beast willing to gather the raw materials used for crafting, such as: plants (like cotton and jute to create twine), broad leaves for 'script', shells and shiny stones, tree bark, pelts, etc. This role often sees a lot of Wildlings filling its rank.
• Earthweavers (unlimited) Any beast willing to take the gatherer's supplies and craft workable items. In the past, these individuals were strictly jewelry makers. Now, they work to craft an assortment of useful items, ranging from garments, armor, to storage and everything in between. So long as a wolf, or a raccoon, can create it naturally, using the materials grounded in this worlds reality; The Court's Crafters can make it happen.
---
- Denizens & Secondary Ranks (No formal application required!)
• Treasure Hunters (unlimited-NPC engagement) With the pack settling into their new home, there is a resurgence of those who miss having a collection to covet. As the name suggests, these individuals scour the valley and beyond for treasure; and anyone can do it, but it is far from a glamorous job. Most participate in the hunt in order to help bring closure to their fellow Elves, or to themselves. Others go out in search for treasure merely to build upon their own collection; regardless of who owned what first. In some cases the individuals must travel near to or deep within the old Elven Homeland in order to uncover the jewels left behind... but only the emotionally ready can truly take on this task. Wandering aimlessly is a surefire way to get caught by an enemy, but the Scouts have talked about a wolf named Trinket who might be able to help...
-OOC: Treasure Hunters can find any number of 'naturally occurring' jewels and jewelry in the world through RP, but to obtain a 'relic' or token of their finds, they must work through the NPC Trinket!
• Entertainers (unlimited) This rank comprises of individuals who possess a certain skill, be it singing, dancing, storytelling, etc. While anyone can call themselves an entertainer, very rarely do they get the chance to make a name for themselves... at least not a positive one.
• Grave Hand (unlimited-Restricted RP access) Although an ominous title, these individuals are tasked with helping the Grave keeper in all his daily duties. Digging, placing stones, aiding visitors, and reaching out to the living relatives of those who have fallen are only a few of the tasks they might be asked to perform. While there is an unlimited number of individuals who can be chosen as a Grave Hand, only the Grave Keeper can decide who will help tend to the garden of the dead.
-OOC: Individuals must plot with/be approached by Roachspeak to consider themselves a Grave Hand.
• Terraformers (unlimited) These are the plant cultivators, more concerned with the valley than most and those who tend to the Elven gardens of The Murkwood Court. Some of these members are merely hobbyists while others are eager to stay connected with, or find some connection to, the Elven roots. They share a name with the Terran due to how closely they work with the earth, even having a Terran or two consider themselves one with this rank as well.
• Protected Prey (unlimited) The Wildlings who do not want to hold rank within the pack but, instead, simply wish for protection. This is not necessarily a rank anyone can apply for but is the assumed title of the aforementioned types.
• Youth (unlimited) This relates directly to puppies, but can include adolescents as well. The youth are generally considered 'in training' for whatever role they wish to take long into their adulthood.
