 Male 1 | Female 2 | Male 3 | Female 4All of these rabbits are members of the Bough of Song - but who are they? How did they join? Were they born into the warren, or did they come forth with great deeds to win over the hearts of the other adventurers? That's for you to tell me! In this contest, you're going to write a short explanation of how or why the rabbit is a part of the Bough. The trick is, you don't know which one you're actually trying for! You can write with whatever pronoun you desire, of course, and you don't have to try for any that you don't have interest in. The winners will be determined by a discerning panel of judges (me) based on how well your story fits with the feel and history of the warren. Rabbits will be given out in order of preference to first, second, third, then fourth. If a winner doesn't have a remaining rabbit on their preference list, then the next best story will be picked, and so on until they're all homed. If after everything any rabbits are left over, then Vari will jealously hoard them away put up another contest in short order for that poor soul. Rules: One entry/story per person.
Anyone except Variable Nonsense may enter, including any and all staff.
If a rabbit isn't on your preference list, it is assumed you don't want that rabbit.
No discouraging other users here or on Discord.
No whining about what rabbit you get or don't get.
You are not required to use the story you write, but the rabbit is required to be a member of the Bough of Song.
You must stay within the word count constraints listed on the entry form! Clear and concise - I have to read them all! ;p The contest begins now and ends Sept. 29th @ 23:59 CDT.

Leader This rabbit's story: They never could stand being alone. Or being anything less that the center of attention. For a warrenless bunny this was torture. They had spent time around other Warren's but each one felt they were missing.. something. They didn't want to be just another gatherer, or Guard, they wanted to be something, someone that you would look at. That was why the first time the visited BOS and saw one of their performances they KNEW this was it. They had to be up there telling THIER stories. Having people watch and listen to what they had to say. They immediately sought out how to join. Preference list: 1,4 (2&3 the same so if it came down to me and someone else give them their preference first? If not possible then) 1,4,2,3

Rabbit's personality:
Like the creeping vine she is named after, Ivy loves to travel far and wide. She is curious and carefree, leaping into any exciting situation without overthinking it much. Ivy moves through life with full belief and trust in the universe that if you jump, well something’s gonna catch you.
(Do you know how hard that was to pair down to 50 words lol)
This rabbit's story:
Ivy was one of ten kits born to her parents. This really worked out to her advantage because Ivy always wanted to be everywhere her parents didn't want her to go, and with so many children to look after, well her parents were pretty distracted. In fact, Ivy earned her name because her mama said she was just like a little vine, always creeping away when nobody was looking! Despite her parent's cautions and warnings, Ivy was just born with a deep seated belief that everything will always work out. As soon as Ivy was old enough she took off into the world. She never did like to stay still long and just kept searching farther and farther to find… well whatever there was to find! When she came across the Bough of Song she felt like what she had finally found was something she didn't even know she'd been searching for; A place like her. A place she could belong without feeling stuck. She regaled the warren with her experiences, telling anybun who would listen all about the things she had seen since leaving her birth burrow. Ivy especially loved telling her stories to the kits who enthusiastically gasped and giggled in all the right spots! The Bough became her roots, and like her namesake, she would travel far and wide but always follow those roots back home to share all about what she had seen before leaping back out into the world to see what would happen next.

Rabbit's name: Sunshadow
Rabbit's personality: Sunshadow appreciates the duality of life. Where there is light, there is darkness. He perseveres to discover every side of the story. He holds himself outside of the moment to ensure he doesn't contaminate events.
This rabbit's story: Sunshadow lives to document stories. While his retellings may not be as theatrical as some of his warren mates, he always strives to get to the heart of the truth. He was drawn to the warren after he heard another member reciting a tall tale, and simply had to investigate its origin himself. He brought his own version of the story back to the Bough, and now returns every so often to add in his newly collected tales.

Rabbit's name: Agate (I think this would work for any of them!)
Rabbit's personality: Agate is a very studious bun, something of a 'nerd' if buns have those. An awkward but adventurous seeker of treasures and shiny stones, and always full of wonder and curiosity!
This rabbit's story: Rocks, stones and shiny things have always fascinated Agate. Why are some shiny? Or smooth? Or sparkle in the sun like water on leaves? Agate was an oddball growing up, and left the family warren at a young age to find a new life. Something of a rolling stone, Agate was always exploring and investigating places for little bits and bobs, rejoicing over fossils and unique stones, studying little shells and bones and even creating stories about them sometimes. But there was no one to share these stories and discoveries and treasures with!
Agate once came across a couple nomadic buns that told tales of a fantastic group of rabbits that just roam and explore and adventure, but have a beautiful secret warren they return to. Agate was immediately enthralled with the idea and set out to find the warren at once. It turned out the Bough WAS
real, and just right! Agate was able to roam, study, and explore, and bring back fascinating new treasures and stories to share.

Rabbit's name: Brier Rose
Rabbit's personality: Determined, curious, daring, independent, kind, and animated.
This rabbit's story: Brier Rose was born in The Bough of Song and grew up loving the elaborate tales and performances of the adventurers. Her papa was a great adventurer and even joined the ranks of the honoured more than once. She didn’t see him much growing up, but everytime he came back he told her the most amazing tales and brought her back the most lovely things. Her mama instilled in her a deep love for the old stories of the founders, Thistledown, Mugwort, and Sparrow, as she told them each and every night to her and the other kits. She was one of many kits and she couldn’t wait to go out and find her very own claim to honour. She was sure she would become one of the greatest adventurers to ever live. Armed with this spirit and determination she became one of the youngest rabbits to ever leave on an adventure.

Rabbit's name: Lullaby
Rabbit's personality: This sweet, tender doe genuinely enjoys caring for young or unwell members of the Warren, putting other's comfort and happiness first. She doesn't seem to have a mean bone in her body. She also sings beautiful harmonies for the kits and anyone else who requests background sound for their stories.
This rabbit's story: Lullaby's parents weren't part of a Warren and like most she set off at adulthood to discover the world, spending a season travelling across a long distance. The fun ended when she had a run-in with a fox, only managing to outmaneuver it by making a couple desperate leaps from unsafe heights. In her blind panic she ended up falling into a uniquely positioned fox den and was too afraid to jump back out. Instead finding a small tunnel from a different animal that with some frantic digging she was able to wriggle into and then continued to dig like the wind. The fox tried digging behind her a short time after but eventually decided it was too much work for the meal. She spent somewhere around a full day digging, putting as much distance between the den as possible before tunneling up to the surface, nearly dead from hunger and thirst. Two members from The Bough of Song found her this way and led her back to their great tree. She's made this place her home ever since, completely devoting herself to caring for others. Lullaby isn't very adventurous anymore but makes up for it by being extra helpful to the community. She regales her tale like a ghost story, greatly dramatized and in the dark. It's fun and helps remind everyone of the need to stay vigilant about their surroundings.

Rabbit's name: Horizon
Rabbit's personality: Couragous, optimistic, a dreamer, carefree, outgoing, driven
This rabbit's story: Horizon was born into a small warren made up of cautious, paranoid rabbits that hardly ventured more than a few hops from their dens. Growing up, they were told all sorts of stories of vicious predators and horrible monsters that lie in wait to snatch them up. These stories were intended to strike fear into the kits and keep them in line, but it had the opposite effect on Horizon. They weren't scared, they wanted to see these fantastic beasts with their own eyes! As soon as they were of age, they left their warren to search and explore.
They found out about the Bough of Song during their travels through another rabbit they met along the way and fell in love instantly. It was so starkly different from what he had once known, but so utterly perfect! No longer would they have to travel alone for they had found others that understood the call of the unknown.

Rabbit's name: Leaf crackle
Rabbit's personality: Leaf crackle is haughty and frightful of the unknown. Yet, due to their egotistical and prideful personality, coupled with needing a home, he attempts to do a bit of adventuring out in the relative unknown for the Bough, whom he is loyal to. Even if he stumbles over his feet.
This rabbit's story: A rabbit who just enters the brook might think that crackle is one of many of the honored, as they have ease telling stories with frivolous and wordy length. The leafs that they sport as bandages helps the idea. Other buns from the warren are likely to know the truth-—he’s a complete liar. Leaf crackle might be haughty and act like they’re all knowing, but they’re a prideful bun who doesn’t dare tell of their failing adventures. Like how they stumbled upon the group on accident, wounded. Or how when they was cooped up there and swore that they would go—but never did. And definitely not about how they don’t know how to cope without a home or how their parents kicked them out of their own burrow.
No, Crackle claims that they spend their days as an adventurer. The bun doesn’t wander far off from the burrow—and usually comes back the same day sporting some sort of wound, or on a particularly bad day, with nothing as he was too afraid of scuttling leaf to venture further. Not that they would ever tell the group that or any newcomers. To them, they boast tha they went on many fantastical adventures—the stories just change every time. It’s descriptive and persuasive story telling—or so they say.

Rabbit's name: Allspice
Rabbit's personality: Brave, foolish, and a heart big enough to beat out his common sense, Allspice doesn't always do what others might agree to be the "sensible" thing, but he sure does love a good adventure - and good adventures make the best stories.
This rabbit's story:
At the edge of the forest, where the grass grows tall and dense, the shadows seem to come to life with the faintest shift of the breeze, and a tiny shape shivers with the expectation of a life full of promise after what could have very nearly been despair.
When the sun had risen that day, all had been well - kits and mothers played in the new morning dew and collected sweet grass for their burrows to snack upon later. Only, when the light began to fade, something else rose from depths of the Tanglewood and it, too, was growing hungry... but not for tender grass shoots or fragrant flowers. The rabbits knew its name well and spoke it only from within the safety and warmth of their burrows.
"Fox", they whispered.
Allspice, however foolishly, did not fear the stories of the sharp-toothed villain featured so prominently in these tales. At least, that is what he boasted to the other young bucks. He had never seen a Fox, before, after all - and neither had they. Still, they warned him against traveling the wood so late in the day. Why, the sun would be setting any moment!
Yet Allspice, brave, foolish, buck, had already made his promise and meant to carry it out. Off he went, shadow long against the setting sun. No one from that burrow ever heard from him again - but he found a new place in the Bough of Song, and lived to share his tale!

So sorry for the delay everyone! Thank you for your patience while I suffered through my fever. I loved all of your entries, but these are the ones I liked best for the Bough for now - but I hope you all bring your stories and your future rabbits by to tell their tales in the future!
