Finch pushed the young rabbit into the interrogation burrow and blocked the exit with a thick tangle of thorny vines. Magpie was already waiting inside, tucked against the shadows. "Well, well, well, caught you at last didn't we little BRAT!" She shouted the last word at him as she hopped right up into his face before darting back behind him. "Magpie, I found this little weasel running away from the scene of the crime. Now we know who is responsible for all this treasonous berry graffiti don't we little one, don't we!?" She hissed into his ear from behind him before shoving him farther into the room and in front of Magpie.

Little Brother was rapidly nearing adulthood. Though still a little thin and gangly, he had grown into his paws in the last few days and was losing some of the baby chub from his face. He'd spent the last two months of his life in quiet rebellion, intentionally creating obstructions in the brambles and smearing berry dye wherever he could, but it was finally catching up to him. He'd been caught before. Sure. But his petty acts had never garnered quite... this much attention. Maybe because his graffiti had never gone so far as his latest one - a red one that read "KING JOXER SUX and his feet smell." The young buck hadn't had enough time to figure out if now was the time for regret before he found himself being shoved into the interrogation burrow. "Hey!!" Little Brother squirmed away from Finch as she shoved her face into his personal bubble of space. "You can't prove anything." 159

Magpie glared at the insolent little thing. How dare he disgrace Bramblefell and their king and then have the audacity to LIE about it. She stalked closer to him as Finch hopped out of the way. Stopping before the gangly little half-grown kit, she stared down at him. “You should not tell lies young one.” She brought her paw down and held it over his head, toying with the fine fur at the base of his ears, debating which one she might wish to pluck out for her trophy. “We know it was you. Just tell the truth and all will be better for you.”

The whole time Magpie was staring and glaring and talking, Finch had been hopping circles around the little squirt. When she started ruffling his fur she giggled maniacally and did a few little binkies, maybe accidentally/on purpose kicking the perpetrator in the butt. “Yeah yeah yeah!” She screeched in his ear, “Tell the truth little squirt! We know you wrote those horrible things about the great King Joxer! Didn't you?? DIDN'T YOU??" She hopped back into the shadows giggling. Words: 79 Total: 191

He'd always known that Magpie and Finch were creepy. Their reputation preceded them, but Little Brother had never gotten close enough to witness their unsettling insanity firsthand. Truly, the stories had not overblown these two's ability to unnerve even the bravest of souls. Still. The young buck was not about to be cowed. He wrinkled his nose and, through sheer force of will, forced himself not to flinch away when Magpie started toying with his ears. They can't. Prove. Anything. He thought to himself. What was the worst they could do?! "What horrible things?" He demanded, whipping his head around to glare at Finch when she kicked him in the butt. What a horrid creature! Little Brother had never disliked anyone less after so little interaction. He tucked his ears firmly against his head and narrowed his eyes. "Anyway, why would you even care what's being said, unless you were afraid citizens would realize it was all true?" 158 159

Magpie’s nostrils flared in anger, “WHAT!?” She yanked a tuft of fur from his head and showed it to him. “This is for my trophies of rotten, stinkin’ liars!” She stood on her hind legs and towered above him. “How dare you speak of our FAIR and GREAT ruler that way!” She hopped back, tagging Finch in. She shook with anger. She stared him down with rage in her eyes.

Finch vibrated with excitement as she leaped in front of her sister and stared into the little pipsqueak’s eyes. “YEAH!” She shouted, and then dropped her voice to a deep whisper as she hopped back behind him. “A dirty little liar you are. My sister hates liars if you couldn’t... TELL!!” She shrieked the last word and then skittered away into the shadows laughing gleefully. Finch then began skipping around the outskirts of the room singing, "Little brat is a liaaaaaar, gonna get kicked out of the briaaaaaaar, he made his bed and now he's dead, what a little liaaaaaaaaar." She proceeded to sing this over and over again at varying volumes. Words: 112 Total: 303

"OW!!!" He squealed, pulling his head away and glaring at Magpie through eyes that burned with growing animosity. That was uncalled for! Somewhere in the back of his mind came a creeping thought that whispered, maybe he really had gotten in over his head. How was he supposed to know that they would send the resident crazies after him for doing something so inconsequential? He was only writing the truth, and here they were, out to suppress his voice of dissent. Little Brother told himself to keep up a strong facade, but couldn't quite help but to shrink a little away from his maniacal interrogators. They were well and truly off their rockers, and the sting on his head from that missing tuft of fur was a very real reminder. "I don't think what you're doing right now is fair or great in any way," he said defiantly. "Doesn't reflect very well on the King, does it?" It probably wouldn't make matters any better, but he couldn't quite help it. He saw the sleeping monster and he had to poke it, there was no explaining why. All he could do, really, was hope that Finch wasn't being serious about him ending up dead. 159 158 203

Magpie leaped back into Little Brother’s space and got right in his face. “I could take more from you, you know.” Her voice was calm and steady in a way that most bunnies found quite unnerving. “Maybe a whisker, or a NAIL!” she shouted the last word then returned to her calmer tone but this time it was a little more seductive and menacing. “Or you could just give me a confession.” She smiled at him, “Confess now or we will be forced to call on the good and just King Joxer, and HE will determine your fate!” She stroked the top of his head, “it’s a dark and scary world out there Little Brother, especially at night. We’ve seen some dangerous things out there haven’t we Finch?”

Finch nodded enthusiastically at her sister's words and got right up close to the little brat's ear to whisper lowly, "Yesssss it really is. We know yes we do." She then leaped away and danced some sort of flailing dance before jumping almost right on top of the liar's toes then leaping back again and bounding around in a crazy circle over and over and chanting. "The great and wonderful King! The great and wonderful King! Yes you could confess you coooould! Confess confess confess!" Then she suddenly stopped in her tracks and stood still as a rock before turning just her head to look right into the little toad's eyes and saying lowly, "Or perhaps please don't confess. Then we get to bring the wonderful and mighty King and he can decide your fate.... Yes..... this is a better plan." She giggled shrilly and leaped close to her sister, loudly whispering to her, "Let us just bring the King! Please sister... let me go get him!" She cackled and darted over to the door dancing excitedly beside it, barely containing herself. Words: 182 Total: 485

Little Brother's determination was starting to wilt. Every time Magpie got all up in his face, he drew back and little farther, and though he would never have said it out loud, internally his mind was starting to conjure up images of dark beasts haunting the forests outside. That could really end poorly for him... The young buck tried to tune out Finch's unsettling chanting to think, to weigh his options. And finally, he came to a conclusion - the outside world was probably more than he could handle. He opened his mouth begrudgingly, intending to hand them the confession they so desired, when... "Hah! Great and wonderful! You two are delusional. You're ALL delusional!!" Oops. total 159 + 158 + 203 + 116 = 636

Magpie kicked out her back feet in agitation. She grunted and stomped her foot. "This little twerp isn't going to confess to anything!" She shook her head. "What an utterly useless creature you are. You don't deserve the greatness of King Joxer's kingdom!" She turned to Finch and nodded. "Bring the great king, let him decide the fate of this, this.. maggot!" She shook again. She positively hated it when she couldn't get a confession. But she supposed it didn't really matter, he would have been banished either way.

RedeemedFinch let out a shrieking, cackling, giggle and hopped gleefully around the room. "Oh yes, oh yes! I shall go and fetch the good King!!" She quickly zoomed out through the passage, taking extra care to kick up as much dust onto their twerp prisoner as possible. When she returned, it was with a twisted and mad smile gracing her features. She bowed low as she stepped into the chamber, holding the thorned brambles aside for their great King. King Joxer strode into the room, his extravagant bulk taking up much of the available space as he towered over the other three rabbits. He inclined his head at the gangly buck before positioning himself in a relaxed loaf. He simply stared at him quietly before speaking in a soft voice. "I hear you are finding your life here in my great warren... unsatisfactory?" He paused and motioned with his paw for the buck to respond. Meanwhile Finch was practically BESIDE herself. Her vibrating body could barely stay still in the presence of King Joxer and she kept letting out tiny little giggles of glee that she attempted to suppress with a paw to her mouth. "I mean, I never said..." King Joxer was quite large, more so than Little Brother had really expected up close. The young buck trailed off mid-sentence, unsure what to say. Was he supposed to lie?! CERTAINLY NOT! He puffed himself back up and narrowed his eyes at the scary-looking king. "I wouldn't call it great," he huffed finally, tucking his ears to his head and glaring at the creepy twins as if to warn them not to rip any more fur off of him. Horrible little things. "I don't think it is satisfactory, come to think of it." total 159 + 158 + 203 + 116 + 98 = 734

The King nodded his head seriously and gave the young buck a slight smile before continuing in a low voice, "Well my young one, if the security and safety of Bramblefell is not satisfactory to your clearly high standards, I think it best if you leave, don't you?" He unfolded his paws and rose to full height, sitting up on his large back haunches so that the tips of his ears nearly brushed against the top of the burrow. "Finch," he called pleasantly to the quivering ball of excited rabbit behind him. "Would you be so kind as to escort our independent friend here out of the warren if that is what he so desires?" Inclining his head to look down at the buck, he held out a paw and lay it heavily upon the smaller rabbit's shoulders. "I truly hope you enjoy your new life of independence and Bramblefell wishes you well," and then leaning down he placed his mouth right up against his ear and whispered, "Do not ever return." With that, King Joxer heaved himself back out of the burrow and left his guards to follow through on his orders. Finch leaped forward as soon as her King was gone, giggling like mad and doing a jerking little dance. "Little liar is gone gone GONE!!" Words: 218 Total: 398
