Crocoite was leaning on his cane, relaxing after a patrol. He had no problems with the White Moon tonight, thankfully, so it meant he was able to play with his 'food' a bit. There was something wholly satisfying in breaking a human being down into their most basic instincts, and pushing them as far as they could go when facing a fear of death. No one wanted to die, at least not the civilians Crocoite had encountered so far.

Quite the opposite. They wanted to live. So badly. Some begged, some bartered. Crocoite always took up a good bargain, though they rarely got the fair end of the deal. Sometimes, he did let them live, but the costs were severe. His favorite kind of encounter was someone with their mate. A boyfriend or girlfriend, a spouse. Someone they had a crush on. The weight of a life for a life was never an easy load to bear, particularly under the threat of being killed by a crazy man with a crocodile cane.

Every answer was always different, but they were always fun. Tonight, his prey had managed to escape with his life. It was only fair, after all, but Crocoite took most of his energy and his arm. Of course, he had not promised to ensure the man lived from the encounter, and left him bleeding in an alley with his arm in his lap. He would probably be fine.

One alley over from that encounter, Crocoite was looking over the ball of energy. Not as pretty or satisfying as a starseed, and not something he wanted to hold on to, but he supposed it would do for his quota.

Everything was so new.

Despite being aware and ready with the textbook answer for what his newfound powers of chaos would do for him (and what was required that he do for them), Rakovanite still felt mildly overwhelmed when he powered up. He wanted to say that it was simply because it was new. He wasn't used to new. He was only used to what was routine. He hated new. ...But it was more than that, wasn't it? 'New' happened of its own accord every day. He could adjust when he had to, to alterations in his schedule and habits.

This, however, was not that. Joining the Negaverse and conforming to its routine was not the same as a simple adjustment to when his classes would meet. This was an in-depth re-write of his entire life, and it was difficult for someone so set in their routine to grasp, as Rakovanite was.

He'd known what it meant. He'd been prepared. Or as prepared as he could be. But that was no substitute for understanding through living it. And there was no going back, now. Rakovanite had to adjust.

Slowly. Because he was patient. And he liked things done right.

Rakovanite didn't patrol alone. There was seldom reason to when he wasn't familiar enough with his abilities to successfully be a threat to anything he might find. But he wanted to become familiar with them, and that meant spending time powered, even if for little more reason than to simply adjust.

He stood in the alley behind one of the clubs he was familiar with (something needed to be familiar about the night), with his earbuds in as he scrolled through music on his iPod. The night wasn't about attacking, right? So he didn't need to do more than stand and feel and try to sense what was going on around him. He'd never been particularly talented at feeling and sensing as a civilian, but Rakovanite at least had a vague idea of what it meant to have other powered people around. Fettelite and Wolframite and Cavansite had all been with him at some point...

And then there came another niggling, something that may have been as familiar as any of those sensations. He still had no idea what a White Moon aura might feel like, but just in case it was similar, he decided to investigate this one's source.

Rakovanite moved toward the sensation, down another alley, and it only took one look for him to decide that it definitely wasn't an aura belonging to a senshi. A shame, really, as it might have been nice to learn. But another agent was fine too, he supposed. "You could stand to look less dissatisfied," Rakovanite rumbled quietly at the other man.

"Oh? Could I? What if I told you this is my happy face?" Crocoite sighed, sensing the familiar aura of another soldier and tilting his head in the direction of the sound. He did not, though, actually turn his head to look at the new comer. That would take energy, for one thing, and would also require at least a modicum of interest in knowing who the person was. And Crocoite lacked that in a spectacularly irritated fashion.

He was, at least, drawn from his brooding. He wondered if the man in the other alley was still alive or not, or if he would wake up in time to realize he'd been had in the deal. It would be a shame if he didn't, but that was just part of the game.

As far as the rules decreed by Crocoite went. Which could change at any time, and with full bias.

"Do you have a reason behind drawing my attention to you, or are you criticizing everyone you meet in dark alleys tonight?"

There were still so few agents- or powered people in general- that Rakovanite was familiar with, fewer still that he'd been able to distinguish an aura from, as often he'd been only a civilian when coming into contact with them. And since he had a vested interest in getting better at... all this, of course he would be led to seek out any odd forces he might be able to pick up. But he was not a social man by any means, and having discovered only an irate agent, rather than someone of Order, Rakovanite couldn't help but be... almost disappointed.

His sigh was soft, little more than a whisper though the air, and his tone flat and unaffected when he spoke. "You imply I limit my criticism based on location, but anywhere can be an acceptable setting for such things." He hardly thought he'd been giving criticism in this instance, anyway.

"I suppose I was unsure of what I was looking for," He still wasn't exactly sure he was actively looking for anything at all, so much as just following any sensations that happened to make themselves known to him. How else was he to learn? "And in that search," (though he hesitated to call it a search). "I stumbled upon you." And then, because Rakovanite had oddly been the first to draw attention to himself despite it being out of character for him, "Forgive me."
