Bruises had almost healed.
Aches and pains were almost gone.
Nevertheless Liliane knew better than to try her luck with this one; she'd survived one bad round with an overly aggressive youma and she wasn't entirely sure she could take another on until she was fully functional again. However, she did have duties to attend to and given that she had delayed them for long enough she thought it best to at least do something.
That something had come in the form of walking through the park in the evening; for the most part she was nothing special, she looked like a normal person who had simply taken a walk to get some fresh air. How little people knew that she was waiting for something decidedly less pretty, and she was intent on making sure that no one went into dark corners where they were most vulnerable!
Weird as she might have been received, she fully intended to intrude upon those who put themselves at risk this evening... even if her only success was to freak them out enough to make them leave the park and head home!

The college lab that Shiloh went to on Friday evenings decidedly ran late tonight. Not so much because the experiments ran long, but because of how much of a mess his teammates left behind.
For years he had worked as a janitor, and couldn't simply leave the laboratory in it's current state for someone to have to clean up later! So he got to work. Tables wiped, spills mopped up, even the chalkboard got a thorough washing before he finally figured the room was spotless. By the time it was clean, the sun was beginning to dip below the skyline...
Home wasn't too far from here... But he knew very well that it wasn't safe to simply go through the park at night. He was safer than most, mind you, but powering up only seemed to call for more trouble to follow him around. He'd risk it tonight, and hopefully beat Alexei home with just enough time to order something for dinner. Surely the other man would forgive him for ordering instead of cooking (not that the judge ever scolded him for it or expected him to cook all the time).
There were so many options, and each thought made his stomach growl more and more as he walked through the park without much thought, until he saw something move in the peripheral of his vision that caused him to jump.
Oh. It was a girl. Common sense told him to mind his own business, but.... He still couldn't help but worry... No body should just be standing around in the dark like this...
"Um... Miss?" He called out, proud of himself that his voice didn't shake like it used to anymore. "You... You um, really shouldn't be hanging out in the dark much... Are you alright?"

Shiloh was greeted by an owlish expression, wide eyed and otherwise peculiar in an area like this. Her reaction times were at least on par with your average human, hopefully reassuring him that she wasn't something nefarious - if there was one thing she didn't need it was another beating in the middle of a park while she was still healing.
...Although she would have deserved it all things considered.
Instead she merely gazed at him for a moment and then shook her head. She was fine, she knew exactly what she was doing and her reasons for being here, but why was he here. Didn't he know that it was dangerous, that things lurked out here?
"I could ask the same of you!" she replied at last and placed her hands on her hips. "Don't you know it's dangerous out here? There are things out here, weird things," she glanced round, albeit to find nothing in her immediate line of sight. "Like drunk people and thieves," she clarified; she wasn't about to talk about ghost corgis with big mouths or weird people sucking the life out of others.
Not yet anyway.
If she had to go down the more upsetting and questionable routes then she would, but for now she'd simply go with overly paranoid do-gooder. The conspiracy theory creep could wait until she needed to up the ante.

That expression stunned him, his own eyes growing wide behind his glasses and a sheepish expression replacing his as he quickly looked away.
"I um... I just... Well... I just got out of class... A-and I'm used to these strange things... But I was moving! Honest, I was moving right back towards my home, but weren't you just... Standing there?" Had she been? Had he been mistaken? Shiloh was tired, so he wouldn't be surprised if he had, in fact, missed the girl having been moving about.
"I'm sorry... I should just head home, And I will, but will you be alright as well..?"

Well she seemed to have done something to him but she wasn't sure if that was just through sheer surprise at how direct she was, or whether or not he was confused as to how best to respond to it. Whatever she had done though, she felt a momentary pang of guilt as it seemed to have made him uncomfortable.
"That's a really late class..." she murmured and shook her head. "What weird school keeps you in that late?" she asked after a moment. Was it HITS? She'd heard stories about that and given it was some sort of higher-class school she could only imagine that working hard, even overworking, was probably one of the key characteristics of anyone who studied there!
"I mean yeah, I was standing here," she added.
"Been here for a while actually," she continued and glanced around the immediate area. "But I needed to make sure no one hung around, it's important."
Shiloh may not understand the need for it and he couldn't be blamed for that if he didn't, but she'd been caught out far too many times, gotten there too late. She needed to be proactive about this and start her patrols earlier (and incognito) so she could catch some of these individuals before they did the vampire thing.

"It's university... I-I wasn't meant to be there that late but I cleaned the place after my teammates left..." Shiloh knew he had a bit of a baby face, but did it really look like he was still in a highschool?
The moment she said she was standing around, alarms went off in his head, and he stumbled back a few paces. While he had gotten stronger... It didn't mean that he was comfortable with fighting... And if this woman was really a powered person (because who else would just stand around waiting for people to tell them to get lost?), he wasn't quite sure if he would be able to fight..
".... Are you maybe a police officer or something...? Why would you hang around here...?"

Liliane's gaze was inquisitive as she continued to listen to Shiloh's explanation, in fact they almost lit up as he indicated he was actually a perfectly functioning adult who was more than capable of keeping his own hours. It wasn't as if she hadn't spent a considerable amount of hours in the library or in CAD suites working through her own projects, it made sense that a university student in other disciplines would be inclined to behave the same way.
"That was a bit lame of them," she observed and shook her head. "Why didn't you make them stay behind and clean up with you, would've been faster you know," she pointed out. Nevertheless when he asked if she was a police officer she couldn't help but laugh.
"I'd be like...the least scary police officer ever," she mused and waggled her eyebrows. "I was going for 'crazy weirdo' vibes, but I guess you're pretty attracted to that and I should have upped the ante," she admitted. Granted, she didn't know he was powered but for the time being she could afford to be at least a little honest with him.
"There's just a bunch of bad people who have been coming out here lately and I want to make sure they can't find anyone to hurt this time," she admitted. "I figured if I scared everyone away it would pay off," she shrugged. "That way those guys have no one to touch and they'll leave unsatisfied. Sometimes removing what they want and starving them of what they need to keep themselves going works better than getting right in their face," she added.
"If they can't find what they're looking for here then they might go somewhere else and I can slowly start making myself a pain in their arses until there's nowhere for them to target anymore."
She paused.
"It makes sense to me anyway."

"... Technically, they didn't have to, I guess.... But I wanted to help the janitor so I stayed..." The longer he stood there, being talked to, the more anxious he got. It wasn't as if he knew this girl, she was a stranger and one who seemed to know exactly what sorts of scary things were out here.
... what if she was one of the bad ones? Shiloh had power, and had gotten stronger, but he as still a non-combatant when it boiled down to it.
... He just wanted to go home, to his Alexei who would have a fit if he got home late.
"What if those bad people hurt you? Wouldn't it be safer to tell the police and have them patrol this area...? It doesn't seem safe to have a civilian like yourself do this...If you'd like, I can go to the police with you and give a report as well.."

"Then at least I managed to keep everyone else out of trouble," she replied smoothly and lifted a brow. It seemed like such an easy thing for her to understand, but this guy seemed a touch more apprehensive. That made sense though, if he really was just someone passing through and he was completely normal than her ramblings would make little sense and contacting the police would make sense to him.
"Not so sure they could take them on," she added and wrinkled her nose. "Besides that just achieves the opposite," she shook her head and sighed. "I just got people out of here and telling them would just mean they come in here - that's kinda defeats the purpose of what we're trying to achieve here, you know?"
"But if you need to get home you can totally do that," she grinned. "That's kinda what I'm aiming for here, yeah?" she chuckled. "Tryna get you out of the bad spot so that the creepers don't come out but you're being all loiter-y and stuff with me," she wiggled her fingers. "You're as weird as I am, aren't you?"

"... But what if people start to think you're crazy, and then the police arrest you for harassment...?" That made more sense than anything else. And people in the city were more than a little jittery these days, given all the craziness that always seems to happen.
The more she talked, the more uneasy he became, and he took a few steps away, gripping tighter at the bag on his shoulder. Shiloh very much disliked the accusations, and he found himself wanting to go home more and more.
"Y-y-you're right, I apologize... I should just go home... I um... Good night then!" With a slight nod, he turned on his heel and quickly began to walk away, hoping that she didn't follow him.

Liliane leant backwards, if only to get a better view as Shiloh made a very quick exit. Generally speaking she probably wouldn't have been happy with how that had went, she didn't necessarily like it when people were uncomfortable around her... But sometimes the right thing to do was the hardest thing too. She wanted to make sure that people stayed safe and if she had to freak them out to do it then so be it.
"You too!" she called after him, offering a wave as she returned her attention to the task at hand.
Although, as she stood with her hands in her pocket the young woman did have to acknowledge that he had a point. Eventually someone was going to call the police on her and if she was incarcerated then she couldn't keep anyone safe. She'd have to come up with an alternative to standing around like this; maybe there was potential for some sort of spook show or a way to do it in a more 'subtle' fashion.
Her lips pursed thoughtfully and even as she stared in to the fairly empty park her head was whirling with potential ideas. She'd thrash her plan out at home but for now she still had a couple more hours to go.
She settled herself in, there'd be more folks to spook but for now Shiloh was free from her grasp!
