The bun who greeted Drift at the entrance to the barracks regarded the bun for a moment, nose twitching furiously as he tried to suss out this visitor's deal. After a moment of cautious sniffing, the red-dyed bun sat up sharply on his haunches and waved a paw.

"One moment, friend!" he said enthusiastically before whirling around and scampering off into the barracks.

While he waited, Drift might notice that most of the buns in this area were actively engaged in something - either simple drills or tidying up. The precious few who had free time to mill around watched him curiously before hopping off to find something or other to occupy their time.

Soon, the first bun returned, following closely behind a blue-eyed buck. Caper came to a halt in front of Drift and dismissed the scout, who once again sat up sharply on his haunches and waved, with a nod.

"Hello, friend, my name is Caper," the buck said. His face bore little emotion, though his tone was not unkind. "I've been told I might be of assistance to you."

Caper studied Drift for a moment, and finally nodded. "Between you and me," he said, leaning a little closer for emphasis. "There's a lot of buns in this warren who have no idea what danger is out there. And that's not a bad thing, they just need others like us who think about keeping everyone safe."

The blue-eyed buck sat back, his eyes wandering past Drift to watch a nearby drill for a moment. "The buns I have here, well... they're learning, but disciplining buns who have a natural inclination toward having fun isn't always easy." Still, they'd come a long way since the very start. His little scouts were learning, and that made Caper quite proud.

"Our goal is to protect the warren, keep an eye out for danger, and help out the other groups as best we can," he added, returning his gaze to Drift. "I want our guards to always be proactive and always want to be helpful to whoever needs it. We can always use more members, if you do stick around."
