Warren Redeemed Redeemed Joxer twitched his little nose as he hunkered down under the little fallen log in the meadow. His parents were looking for him again and he did not want to be found. Why wouldn’t they just leave him alone? He didn’t need them. He stayed under the log until he couldn’t hear his name being called anymore, and then finally ventured back out. His ears swiveled around as he made completely sure he was alone. Finally. He kept trying to go off by himself so he could actually think without his mother prattling away at him, or his father trying to give him some meaningless life lesson, or his stupid brothers and sisters trying to engage him in idiotic games. How did anyone expect a young kit to make any sort of plans or have any sorts of thoughts in that environment? He shook his head and picked up a stick and began sketching out an idea in the dirt.
For a while now he had been designing something. It was all still in his head. Misty and hard to grasp but it was the beginning of something great, he could feel it. He used the stick to sketch something that to him resembled a sprawling kingdom of burrows and passageways and secrets and power and guards and treasure but to anyone who might look at it, it basically just looked like a bunch of scritches in the ground. Joxer was only a kit afterall. None of this mattered to the young rabbit though, he knew exactly what he was looking at and a small smile formed on his mouth as he thought of how this kingdom would be his.
“What are you grinning all about?” A crazy, little harsh voice called out. Joxer startled and his jerky movement caused half the kingdom to be erased in the dirt.
“This is none of your concern. Go away.” He called out in his most imperious tone. He had been practicing.
The kit belonging to the voice was a little younger than him. She had dark fur with odd white rimmed eyes that made her very unnerving. Joxer secretly liked her immediately. “Well fine not like I care or anything.” She started to hop away, looking for all the world like she really didn’t care. But Joxer knew better. He was excellent at reading body language and he could tell she was just trying to play it cool. He smiled more now that he knew this fact. He could use it to his advantage.
“Well, I could show you. But you must keep it secret and you must do exactly what I tell you.” He called out softly to the other kit.
She flicked her ears in his direction and he could see her thinking it over. Finally she hopped back next to him and looked up into his face. “My name is Uzo, and I always keep my promises. But you better show me something cool.” She grinned wildly.
Joxer grinned at her. “Oh it’s cool alright.”
And that’s how Joxer and Uzo first met. Uzo quickly grew to admire Joxer and, after witnessing the way he could get other kits to practically do whatever he wanted, she knew she wanted to be close to him. Uzo was drawn to excitement and manipulation, even at such a young age. And this rabbit, well she knew he would grow to be one of the most powerful around and with it would be many fascinating things and rabbits to play with.
