Pip was jumping on his freshly made bed of picked flowers. He wore a large petal on his head and had wrapped a vine of some kind around his shoulders. He was very engaged in a little show he was putting on with two flowers he had found that fit oh so neatly over his paws. Then he heard it.

A joyful giggle!? He had only known himself to make such a sound. He popped up higher on his back legs and looked around. Not too far off he saw two bunnies looking at him. They’re laughing! And not in a mean way, but with pure joy! He felt a warm bubbling up inside himself. He closed the distance between them in one giant leap. And immediately began talking way too fast. “My name is Pip! And I never ever met anyone outside of my warren before, I've never been outside before! And these are real life flowers and I love them! Have you seen them!? Do you want to hear my story!? I’ve had a great adventure today!”

The Bunnies seemed to agree, with amusement and maybe some confusion, that he should tell his story. Pip was delighted! He had always wanted to tell stories. Not in the dull, boring way his warren would drone out the ancient stories. No, he wanted to tell exciting new stories in a fun way. He wasn’t sure how to go about doing that, but like he’d always done in his life, he began with little thought and let his body follow.

“Well, this morning was my BIG MORNING OUT”. He stood up tall when he spoke those last three words and splayed his paws out dramatically. As he explained the rite of passage where you get to step outside the warren burrow for the first time ever, he paced back and forth. He waved his paws dramatically as he described the lessons he had to pass in order to even be allowed out. Then with great intensity he described the walk to the warrens main opening. “So, it’s my first day and I’m hopping along with the guard and I can see the light!” He paused and made an overly dramatized face of shock. “Then I could smell a million wonderful new smells.” He flared his nostrils. “And I couldn't wait! I didn't want some little walk around! I wanted to explore the world!” He stood up on his hind legs again and tried to look brave and purposeful. “So I leaped forward and knocked over the guard.” He mimicked bunnies falling to the wayside, then crouched down low and darted in fast little hops. “This is how you run in the tunnels.” He said, panting as he darted in little circles. He stopped suddenly, “then I got outside and I was so amazed!”

With more dramatic gestures, faces, and movements, he described how he escaped the guard and came to be playing by himself in the flowers. He could tell his new friends enjoyed his story. He felt like he’d brought them joy. He was so in love with this feeling! He came to learn their names, Smudge and Fivespot. They shared their stories and plans with him and invited him to join them. Pip felt for the first time in his life like he was accepted. They like my crazy ways! And they’re so glamorous with their decorating ideas and plans for dyes. His old Warren used dyes, but only to paint the same lame symbols over and over again. He was brimming with excitement for his new life. “You know guys,” Pip said as the sun hung low in the sky, “I thought today was already the best ever, but then I met you guys… who knew life could be so good.”
