A circular stone arena surrounded by a deep moat. It is one of a few such arenas currently in use, and is blocked off from the others by 3 meter high netting that runs around the perimeter of the moat. This lets spectators as well as participants see how the other teams are doing.
This match: Tag between Choukyu Akimichi and Derych Kain.
Hearing his name called over the broadcast system, Choukyu would approach the entrance of the arena he was to be in for his first match. If he was being honest, he was somewhat disappointed that it was only a game of tag, but whatever, he’d do his best anyway. When the gate opened, the Konoha genin would walk into the open arena and look around, trying to figure out if there was a way he could maybe use terrain to his advantage. It was just a simple flat stone circle with a moat around it from the looks of things, which made Chou wish he had done a bit of Ninjutsu training, but with a shrug he would walk in towards the middle and wait for his opponent to show up.

Derych stepped into the area with his opponent, Choukyu Akimichi they said. He was unfamiliar with the name as it was probably an shinobi from another village. Derych was at a large disadvantage with his lack of knowledge of jutsu and techniques. But it was alright. He watched his opponent intently. Nearly an entire foot shorter then him but clearly had a bit more mass and weight behind him. Not technically overweight but given his frame it was hard to tell without getting in real close. He had faught men like this before but it was too hard to tell how this would go. Derych shook his head for a moment remembering this was not a trial by combat but a game of tag?'Such a strange form of a test. Speed was probably the key to this trial... or trickery.' Giving it a bit of thought, shinobis are to usually excel at deception. Ether way he was ready. He gave a bit of a bow as he saw customary in these parts as a greeting. He closed his eyes for a moment and tried to remember his training, being the first time he would have used any of which against an opponent.
As his opponent entered the arena, Chou would eye him up and down, ‘Alright... he’s got a good amount of a height advantage on me,is probably a decent bit older...’ he would think to himself as he sized the other man up. When his opponent bowed, Chou would bow back, figuring he should at least offer some basic respect with this not being a serious death match or anything. After a slow, deep breath, Chou would settle into a fairly basic fighting stance and charge at the other shinobi. Just before reaching Striking range, Derych would see Choukyu flip off sideways before launching at him from an angle with a flying sidekick, trying to get the first point.

Chou would feel his foot sink into the side of the man as he made contact before the large man would fly off from the force of the impact. Chou would then vanish for a moment before appearing under Derych and kicking him upinto the air, jumping to follow him. In the air behind the other shinobi, Chou would run through the 4 hits of the Lion’s combo before falling and landing beside the other man.
