There seem to be a problem with our search engine bringing up posts before 2010. We will look into fixing this issue after we finish work on the summer event.

The bug with Daily Reward had been fixed yesterday. It should work properly to show the item rewards this weekend.

Missing prize grants, broken museums
It seems Runway's decided to act up again D:
Since August 2nd, the runway has not been automatically updating the Museum of Museums nor sending out prizes the following morning.
The following is speculation but this does come on a roughly one year anniversary of a total runway break when the first of the month bugs were still a thing, so it seems a bit more like residue of that perhaps, unless something was just accidentally hit D:
Regardless of the cause it would be nice to see the automatic prize and museum systems up and running again soon if possible!

We've been making a lot of major changes to the backend, and although it shouldn't affect Gaia Runway, looks like I still made some mistakes along the way. sweatdrop
I'll look into fixing it tonight. Things should be back to normal starting tomorrow.

Regarding the recent amount of spam in forums like Gaia Community Discussion and Site Feedback, would it be possible to revise the specified requirements of becoming a moderator or raise awareness about how moderating works and how to apply in order to encourage users to join the mod team? The amount of spam is really overwhelming and is a low priority to existing moderators due to the amount of other TOS violations on the site and a lack of manpower.

What is it that you would like to revise on the requirements for becoming a moderator?
However, if that is not a possibility, it might help to make an announcement or staff update calling for new applicants. I've noticed that there are many who would like to help but don't understand how to and a post like that could give them some answers.
There are 182 days in 6 months, we are asking for 100 reports, so that is less than 1 report a day, so not quite sure why there would be a concern about the amount we are looking for as being excessive. Perhaps you could explain further?
For the ModApp we are looking for the number of reports and whether or not what it is you report is actually valid. Whether or not the report had been handled when we review you for the Moderator position doesn't matter, just whether or not the applicant has an awareness of what is a violation on Gaia.

Because the situation is so pervasive and unrelenting and due to the lack of moderators on the team currently, the time frame and amount of reports, while normally fine, isn't the most helpful in the current situation. Because they are spread so thin, many moderators appear unable to divide work evenly in a way that allows them to handle serious site violations, as well as less severe reports. As a result, forums like GCD are flooded with advertisers on a daily basis and it takes up to a week for these threads to fall off of the front page. Many users don't even report them anymore because they aren't aware they are being taken care of.
By reducing the amount of reports required to apply, it might encourage more users to join the mod team and address these concerns as well as help maintain other site issues so that the current team isn't struggling as much.

I sorry to be a bit thick today, but really do not understand. You are saying there are plenty of posts to report due to all the violations on the site. But you want less reports to be required because of all the violations on the site?
How is having less than a report a day an excessive burden to becoming a Moderator? If as you say, there is plenty to choose from, you could get your 100 in far less than 6 months.
We do not wait for 6 months to review your work, if you get your 100 reports in 30 days that's fine with us, as long as you show you understand what constitutes a violation of site rules.
Now, as a hint, sending in 100 reports of the same type will not show that you know overall what things break more than one rule, so I would suggest not just sending in 100 spam reports so that we can see that you do have an understanding of Gaia's Terms of Service overall, but other than that, you should be good! smile
There are several violations of course, but because of the lack of moderators and the piling up of issues on the forums, it would be beneficial to get more staff as soon as possible to help keep the forums afloat. Reducing the amount of reports needed to apply would allow more users to apply much faster to a team that desperately needs it.
I was not aware that the process was within a six month period, rather than a six month wait. That is very good to hear. However, having to submit various reports rather than the most visible is not such good news. Because these advertisers are what we're confronted with the most on the daily basis, it accounts for a good chunk of the reports we make. When the site was much more active, it might have been easier to find multiple instances, but they seem few and far between on most parts of the site.
EDIT: Since we're getting close to the end of the discussion, I can revise my questions and we can continue next week, if that's alright.
Reporting more serious types of violations helps us see you understand that ads are not the most important/the only content for mods to deal with. This is considered when applications are reviewed.

Some fairly strong political discussions take place on Gaia and I feel it is in all of our best interests to understand where we are covered and how.

Unfortunately we can't discuss the details of an account with anyone other than the account owner. They can file a ticket in the Help Center to appeal their ban. If they don't know why they haven't been banned they can send me an inbox and I can explain it to them.
You are making an assumption that the discussion was the reason the account was banned.
As I said, we can't discuss any details but I can tell you that unless something you say breaks the rules, having a discussion, no matter how political typically will not get you banned. Gaia makes no judgements on your political opinions and welcomes any and all discussion. We only get involved if it changes from vigorous conversation to Trolling.

We definitely need more Gaians to help with adding tags to older items. I'll think of adding some rewards for suggesting tags and for having tags approved by mods.

In my attempt to learn the innerworkings of the backend, I learned how to update avatars of NPCs and staff — Yuro just happened to be my test subject at the time! I think she looks pretty good.

Yes, a mobile update is coming and we will increase the rewards across the board. The mobile version will have a system similar to what you mentioned with a ticket system.

That's a great idea! We will look into and see if any of them would work. All items are made in Flash so it might or might not translate into pixel art properly.

Yes, we will be adding more features to both the IOS and Android apps. They share the same framework so we can update both platforms at once. Though with limited time we usually test with the IOS version before we push updates to both platforms.

I don't know if this is "fixable" but there are several items on marketplace (some of which I have in my wishlist) that constantly say there is one for sale. But when you click on it, there is no item for sale. I know it sometimes takes a few minutes after things are bought to show up as such but several seem "stuck" on there, even though they've been purchased. Thank you.

Always okay to share your own opinion, but be considerate to who you're talking to, and always consider the point of your post, instead of whether you might be banned or not. Is your point to inform the reader, provide an alternative point of view with supporting reason, or for something else? Imagine yourself as the person you're posting to, if you deem that your own post has a point to whoever's listening, good chance you're not breaking any forum rules. But of course, no matter what, the core forum rules still apply.

When will this "Privacy policy" screen disappear? I've had to accept it almost every time I open a new gaia tab and honestly... as someone with an already laggy laptop that is near it's death, it just lags me further. I've accepted it countless times, why is it still showing up? I reckon I should only need to accept it once?

We've recently installed a script from a 3rd party provider and it only shows up for European users so we haven't been able to test it properly. I will look into having a different script running. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Updates are coming soon as well as ability to play LK in the mobile app. Hopefully things will start working for you again.
