Kanja was pretty bored. The Genomes he met all had their own things to do, so he wasn't sure anyone would come to see him today. He was lazing about the lake he called home, now and then startling some of the bugs that landed on the surface for fun. He was mostly bellow the water, his eyes barely above the water, when he spotted something strange. That was a genome, wasn't it? He slowly moved in the water, closer to the long grass and reeds by the shore to observe.

Hm... they appeared to be female, and if he was correct, an adult. He didn't know many adults, and none of them were female. He followed her, keeping to the water until it was obvious he had to get out if he wanted to observe her more. So that's what he did. He was silent in the water, but not so much on land as he followed her.

Kanja was half behind some foliage, ducking down so his black hair and orange eyes were visible. He was staring at the genome... oh! He spotted her! He lifted his head to show off some of the golden scales on his blue skin.

"Amber." He repeated her name. "You're a genome I haven't met before." He stated, approaching her without a care and looked her up and down unabashedly. Kanja was on the tall side for a child, already about 5 feet tall, and growing. "I'm Kanja! I saw you by my lake lake."

"I've been lucky in meeting many genomes lately. Though most of them have been around my age." He thought about Saga, Padparadsha, and Amaryllis with a smile. "I think I'm supposed to be in the lake. My egg was found there, and after I hatched, I returned there. Living in that ship dries me out too fast and makes my scales itch." Finally, Kanja closed the distance between them, and was standing... very close. He had no issues being in her personal space, and was actually really curious about the decorations she had on her outfit. "I like your shining rocks." He said, reaching out to touch the band on her arm. "I think I've seen things like them in the lake."

"I never saw a reason to. I mean, I live in the lake, so collecting them just seems silly. They are basically collected already at the lake bed." He held Amber's hand as he inspected her jeweled bracelet. "I can bring one up for you to see some time if you like." He offered. While the lake was his home, and he considered the contents 'his,' Kanja was happy to share.

"Amber, where are you going?" He finally let go of her hand and looked at her curiously. "What do you do?"

"Alright. Come by the lake again and I can bring some up." He liked the idea of spending time with people, so he would look forward to it. When she pat her weapon, Kanja looked at it. "Oh, you're a hunter then?" He asked curiously. He wanted to see the weapon, but at the same time, he felt maybe he shouldn't. "I have never had meat from the land animals or the flying ones." He smiled brightly. "I live on fish and the plants I find." He looked at her thoughtfully. I have never hunted on land. Can I join you?"

"A weapon?" He blinked curiously at the question. "No, I don't think so?" He had only ever used his hands and teeth when taking out fish. "I never thought about holding any sort of weapon." He thought about Aren and his replacement leg, and thought about the weapon that did that. "I don't know what I would even be good at. What could I use under water?"

Kanja sighed. "I understand." He was inexperienced, after all. Going with Amber would likely slow her down. "Oh! When you are done hunting, come to the lake." He turned and pointed to where the reeds grew tallest. "The other side if the reeds, where you can see the slope of the bank. Drop a rock in the water. I'll come and see you." He beamed at her. Maybe he could bring up a shiny thing from the lake for her! He got an excited look on his face. "Have a good hunt!"
