Big Bad padded ahead of his adoptive mother, paws hitting the ground with a quietness one wouldn't assume the large male to be capable of. He held his nose close to the ground as he paced throughout the Red Woods. It was only a few weeks ago he found two small pups, and now he was back on the prowl. If there were more to be found he wanted to do so. Was someone just dumping pups in the Red Woods? Despicable -- a pup wouldn't be able to survive in these conditions.
Forbidden Oath trailed behind him, content to just observe. He had request her to join him in-case they found puppies. Last time he had been on his own and struggled to carry two lost pups. Red had flailed about barking and snarling, intent on leaving any mark on Big Bad upon her discovery. If they found multiples, again, he'd need someone better with kids to coax them out of hiding.
Her head snapped up as she caught wind of a scent. No -- two. She turned to look at Big Bad, grimacing at the sight of her rather massive son still head first into the dirt. Not the most dignified of sights she had ever seen, honestly.
"We have visitors," she murmured, padding up to his side. Big Bad snorted from his spot, head lifting as he looked in the direction of the scent.
"I've been aware," he answered, chuckling as Forbidden Oath frowned at him. "I didn't want to say anything until they were closer. They're not on pack land, it's not a crime to be here."
"Still, a warning would have been nice," she huffed dryly, mentally tucking away the question of when he got old enough to begin sassing her in response. Awhile ago, if she was being honest. Parents just didn't like admitting that their children were adults, even if that child was a very big Alpha and had proceeded to adopt children of his own as well.
Wow, time flew.
She shifted onto her haunches as Big Bad turned to face the newcomers, neatly placing her paws in-front of herself. The last time they had visitors that weren't two starving pups it had been a wolf mad from years of lonely travel. She hadn't been there for the experience, but she had heard enough from her son to know it had been an unpleasant one.
"Think they can hear us by now?" Big Bad flashed a grin her way, met with a dainty shrug of her shoulders. Big Bad, one to seek out trouble before it could come to him, nodded and pulled himself up to pad towards the scent. Forbidden Oath didn't have long to find time to chase after him, paws taking an extra step here and there to keep up with his stride.

The behemoth of a wolf paused as he heard voices, noting they were most likely about him. Within sight of the two his eyes narrowed, noting both the stance and absent gaze. Instinctively, he stepped before Forbidden Oath in answer, covering view of her entirely with his size. She remained quiet, both light on her paws and voice.
"You're on the edge. We don't mark as heavy, intentionally." In the current state of the pack he had desired to lessen the scent to help recruit more wandering wolves. That, and those who had ill-will were also welcome for other reasons -- mostly to raid them in response. Stealth might not seem to befit someone of his size, but his pack enjoyed wandering in the shadows of obscurity.
"Who are you, and what are your intentions?" He felt Forbidden Oath settle behind him, the corner of his mouth twitching. Why was she relaxing? This wasn't time for a nap. Perhaps she was absolutely certain they weren't in danger? He had long learned to listen to her hunches, but he also was frankly stubborn.
With his stubborn nature he also was the type to barrel forward, which had momentarily blinded him to the size of the other. An Alpha, perhaps? Big Bad struggled with sizing; it wasn't easy for him to judge who was and wasn't beyond average when the only reference he had was himself against others. His pack didn't host many large wolves -- not yet, at least. Did that mean they were from the nearby pack? He had sent scouts earlier to determine any packs within the mountains and located one so far... was this...?
Oh, this was interesting.

Big Bad had heard the claim before. 'We were just passing through, we don't mean any trouble'. Hadn't that been what caused the Crows downfall on top of the plague? Big Bad was perhaps one of the most welcoming Alpha's to lead the Crows in generations, but that was to potential new-members. He quietly listened to the two wolves, face stoic and body still. Aha, there it was -- he was right, they were from the pack in the mountains. That, or he had two packs nearby he had to keep an eye on.
He felt pressure against one of his legs, glancing back to note Forbidden Oath nudging him. She locked eyes with him, eyes narrowing as she shook her head. What was she saying? He didn't have time to ask as, soundlessly, Forbidden Oath stood upright and spoke up.
"You lost your way, then?" She stayed behind Big Bad, although her voice carried strong despite the soft intonation. "This is Big Bad, our Alpha. I am Forbidden Oath." She ignored Big Bad's irritated thump of his tail, instead placing a paw on it in response.
"We're from The Crows," he reluctantly revealed. It wasn't like his mother to be so open -- was she confident in her decision? What made her instantly trust the two before him?
"If it's food you're looking for then you wouldn't mind us tagging along then, would you?" He added finally, unable to stop a large grin from appearing. Fine, he'd test their intentions. That, and honestly he had yet to meet another Alpha near his parts. A part of him even wanted to see if this Snow Rabbit was worth befriending.
